What an Honor!!! New Yorkers you're the best!
And you can bet your last money, it was probably a STONE GAS honey!
Get Down and boogie...Can You Dig It....feel Tha Funk
catch You On The Flip side'
Nothing like a rousing celebration in honor of someone who just killed themself.
When I watch Soul Train reruns from the 70s, I am struck by the absolute decline in the quality of music, driven by MTV and Rap. The bands on soul trains had horns, and guitar, and drums, and bass and melodies and vocals. They sang about love, life, and the black experience. Go on You Tube and watch videos of Sly and the Family Stone , Parliament, or James Brown. It is a brilliant, multi textured experience full of surprise and substance.
Rap features no instruments, except for canned recordings. The lyrics are inane, hateful, and demeaning to women and insulting to blacks with intelligence. It basically takes no talent.
Don Cornelius showcased outstanding music and that music is long gone.
@StackDat... you don't know what his troubles were... who the hell are you to judge?
Blacks with intelligence also know how close minded and one dimensional these statements are. You've described more stuff ON THE RADIO than just rap (some of it...NOT on the radio). Your post is a classic expression/projection of a different kind.
now what do we do? yea keep the music alive, of all generations.
SWEET, I bet Don Cornelius would love this tribute!
I would love to see video of this.
He was Super Cool, I really miss him!
You are only remembered for what you have done... This is a great tribute to his life's work. I wish him peace love and soul!!
One of the things he did was he shot himself. It was actually the last thing he did.
Ignore the troll
I mean if people are remembered for what they did, this guy should be remembered for shooting himself.
To all those who are judging this apparent act of overwhelming despair, but by the grace of God go you.
Rest in peace, Don. You were loved and will always be appreciated. May your soul find repose in the arms of God.
PEACE.
I saw that Wolf's comments were already hidden, and rightly so, but I proceeded to flag them still anyway, just to make a point.
Sweet Baldman. You're a champion
You're welcome.
You cut me so bad man. It hurt deeps down that you flagged my post.
I am deeply terrified at the vastness of your intellect. The overwhelming wit dripping from your sarcasm makes me feel so little.
peace...love...soul!!!

I remember Soul Train every Saturday morning growing up in Queens. He was definately a ground breaker when racism and oppression was the norm. God bless and rest in peace.
I love it when people come together out of love and respect! Don Cornelius would have loved to see this great event in honor of himself.
To the family of Mr. Cornelius, we wish you LOVE, PEACE and SOOOUL!
Dark day in New York

I would love to witness something like this.....
I loved Soul Train when I was young, I used get yelled at by my parents for staying up so late watching the Show, Rest in Peace Soul Brother...
Looks like a bunch of idiots in the square.
You know what your response means!!! Sorry!!! you just don't have any soul, your bag.
On the day of your passing, and you will pass away. You can be assured that no one will go to Times Square to dance you out.
No way to have gone out, but did he produce a winner; ableit a shadow of American Bandstand.
