A photo taken with an iPhone shows a man, thought to be the bomber, lying on the ground with severe injuries after an explosion in Bangkok on Feb. 14, 2012.

NBC News, msnbc.com and news services report from BANGKOK — A man thought to be Iranian was seriously wounded in an explosion near Bangkok's embassy district Tuesday, police and a government spokeswoman said, after he reportedly threw a bomb at police that bounced off a tree and blew up near him.

The explosion occurred in the district that houses foreign embassies, including the Israeli Embassy. The Israeli Embassy is more than 800 yards away across a main road.

Police Col. Warawut Taweechaikarn, a senior officer in the district, said the wounded foreigner was Iranian.

The incident came a day after twin bomb attacks targeted Israeli embassy staff in India and Georgia.

Besides being inhumane and a violation of the Geneva Conventions, torture does not work.

You only like it because the idea makes you feel good, and that should bother you.

    Commonsense:

How the heck do you know torture does not work?

Iran has fired the first shot.... the end result is obvious. We have seen what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran is definitely mapping its own demise. The World cannot wait to assist. It is just a natural phenomenon.

This is hardly their 'first' shot.

But we do not need to wage war against the entire Iranian nation. Sooner or later the Iranian people are going to grow sick of their 'supreme' dictator and his goons.

Once again commonsense, everyone knows that the world does not have an axe to grind with the Iranian people, but rather an oppressive government. We already had a chance to help the Iranians once and our cowardly leader side-stepped that chance. And yes, the Iranian people are probably already sick of the leadership, but the Syrian people were too and that has worked out just great for them, hasn't it?

What may, and probably will, tip the scales won't be another terrorist attack by Iran or Israel (unless the wacky Persians hit the U.S.). It will be when the U.S. finally puts stringent Banking sanctions on Iran. Those proposed sanctions will completely hobble their ability to move Oil Payments into their country from Iran's oil customers. THAT will hurt them drastically, and send the little "Rat Man" Ahm-a-nut-job over the edge. The next few days or weeks will be interesting to say the least. Of course our oil will continue to cost more and Gasoline will be over four bucks a gallon by spring...................there goes the economy. So put one of the cars up; start that victory garden in the spring and go to cash in your 401K.

      Clipper,

I have to agree with your first sentence. No one has an axe to grind with the Iranian People. There is a need by the common Iranian citizen to at least attempt to throw off their Theocratic, Terrorist supporting regime though. THEY have to make the attempt just like the brave Syrian people are trying to do now. As for your comment about our "cowardly leader" I would have to remind you that It was George W. who decided to invade the wrong country (Iraq) while we all know that his invasion into the wrong country cost us American lives and trillions of dollars in debt. With Iran producing technically advanced, shaped charge I.E.D.s for use in Iraq, George W. should have handed the Iranians their asses in a basket. Didn't happen. Our failures go back 60 years with our inability to conduct wars to rid ourselves of the threats we face, instead, we try to "contain" them only to have them rear their ugly heads again and again. Iran with their blatant support of terrorist organizations worldwide is now the case in point.

I just LOVE what Billy Connolly (hysterical Scottish comedian) has to say about these punks- "Every time a bomb goes off, the world is one WANKER short". Yeah and another funny skit portraying a suicide bomber training his cohorts, "now listen up; I'm only going to show you this ONCE!"

The end result of putting 19th century explosives in the hands of a person with a 6th century mind. Quit buying their oil, become energy independent and send them back to the sand where they came from.

This could be a perfect example of a "FALSE-FLAG" Bombing but then again, if it is the Iranian Govt. it's game on & I would think the Israeli's & American's are already interrogating this wanna-be martyr....
