Full moon rises behind New York City

Space.com reports: Traditionally, the April full moon is known as "the Pink Moon," supposedly as a tribute to the grass pink or wild ground phlox, considered one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other monikers include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon and, among coastal Native American tribes, the Full Fish Moon, for when the shad came upstream to spawn.

(Traditional names for the full moons of the year are found in some publications, such as the Farmers' Almanac. We also published the complete list of full moon names here on Space.com. The origins of these names have been traced back to Native America, though they may also have evolved from old England or, as Guy Ottewell, editor of the annual publication Astronomical Calendar, suggests, "writer's fancy.")

If God makes something in the Universe, and there's no one around to see it, did it really get made?

yea like if a tree fell and nobody was around does it make a sound? yea no shnit it does, put a recorder near it and would it record sound? and to yur comment, if god MADE something does it really get made? well just said he made it so id think that that means uhhh no shnit he made it you just said that

I'm sorry my friend but for a sound to be heard their first must be an ear or some similar object to reconize it has such. It might indeed make a sound but your going out of your way to assume you know what by it's very nature is impossible to know. Besides even if you hear it afterwords the fact remains that if you hear it then clearly someone was around to hear it, even if it's thanks to tecnology. Besides at the end of the day we didn't have a recorder for that time in "history" so your argument has little merit. On top of all that you twisted his words around and you know it, that being the one thing you should never do if you wanted to be taken seriously by anyone with half a brain. The way I see it god may exist or may be an ancient myth made by the cowardly and scared, but how would any of us truly know any diffrently? I mean you can have all the faith in the world just has I do that aliens exist but until you see one with your own eyes you can never and I repeat never know if they truly exist, your lieing to me and more importanly yourself if you say I'm wrong and we all know it. Besides if he is real he clearly wishes for us all to live independent and truly free lives that's why he doesn't stop the rapist or the murder. So everyone who is waiting for god to save them can continue to do so after all that is freedom is it not? But you can be sure if he wishes us to live free lifes then he also wants us to die free deaths.

Personally I'd have it no other way and I can't seem to understand why anyone would turn down the true freedom of being their own messiah, afterall preach all you want but my actions and attempts to help others were done because I enjoy doing so, not becuase I fear for my eternal soul, how many christians can honestly say that desire doesn't reflect in atleast a portion of thier actions? Hell if it means spending forever with a god who watches and does nothing has his creations destory all they know then I'd rather hang with the big red goat guy because at least he will give you want you want before allowing you to destroy yourself.

You can too. Sorry to put a damper on it.

These pictures are photoshopped or manipulated. Look at the edges around the moon. These pictures are enhanced. I do the same thing but I let the people who see it know that I enhanced the photo. I took some pictures of the moon thursday since the moon rose early during daylight, but I had to enhance it because the sky was too clear and the moon was not as bright.

In this digital age, we can ALL take pictures like this if you know how to enhance them with photo software.

who cares....allow others to enjoy the moment no matter what has been done to the photo

Bit late to the party but...the only thing I see on the edges of the moon is distortion from heat haze. In a city the size of New York, that's hardly surprising. MSN is very careful about labeling enhanced or Photoshopped pictures, and I've seen very similar ones from before the digital age when not everyone had access to a darkroom.

I have to blame obama for this one simply because he's the one in office.

Montiso, what are you complaining about, now? I saw the moon this evening on my way to the supermarket this evening. It was on the horizon and it WAS pinkish orange, and HUGE! I went nuts and showed everybody in the parking lot! I am 64 and have always been really into the moon. I swear , I have NEVER seen a more beautiful moon in my life! Amazing.

it is not the owsomness of the pic that matters but its linkage to reality physically, theoritically and obviously.

Arguments are formed when there is an abiguity or less clear to an object... the far at which an object is to reality the more the magnitude of argument will attract... be guided accordingly please
