San Francisco photographer Phil McGrew says he has been trying to make a picture like this since he moved there two years ago. Thursday's violent storm finally allowed McGrew the opportunity to make the picture, but he says he made it from inside the window of his apartment because he didn't want to get his camera wet.

I've visited this fascinating city twice! Awesome photo! Hope there were no injuries caused by the lightning.

Imagine how far Christopher Lloyd could send you into the future with eight (or nine) times 1.21 gigawatts!

Great photo, congrats to the photographer.

even the raindrops on the window add to the shot overall.

Wow, now ain't that beautiful. Nature is amazing, i wish i could see cool storms like this every now and then. Storms are one of my fav things to watch, but they don't last for more then 3 min here and they tend to be weak. Though you can't get me to go out in one since there was the one time when i was lil and i almost got hit by a bolt, i must say i was probably one of the most suprissed kids ever when i saw the tree a few feet behind me fly apart.

'Loo' closer..there are 10 bolts. One is faint and 2nd from right, still counts. There's also another striking in a neighborhood away from the bridge. And if you think it's a time lapse, then explain the single set of raindrops..not a blur like the bridge cars. Amazingly beautiful either way.

Awesome image-can't people just appreciate the image without all the analyzing and religious talk. Obviously everyone is different in their opinions, and I know we are a country of free speech, but at times the comments back and forth start to take away from the simple beauty of what someone captured.

Just a thought, being a recreational photographer, why not cut a hole in a gallon size plastic bag and fit the bag over the camera while shooting to keep it dry? I've done that for water and for sand-works great.
