President Barack Obama took a moment from fundraising in Michigan on Wednesday to visit the Henry Ford Museum and sit in the Montgomery, Ala. city bus made famous by Rosa Parks.
Obama said he took the time to sit in the bus to "ponder the courage and tenacity that is part of our very recent history."
The image was shot yesterday, but was made available to msnbc.com today.

It was remarkable to learn that the Montgomery bus boycott from Rosa Parks, to victories that came later, were the results of intensive training in non-violence, and well thought out planning...nothing spontaneous about what happened on that bus, and the ensuing civil rights struggle!
WOW!!!
Now that is a good photo op.
I wonder how many studies they did to get him positioned exactly in that spot with that expression???
I love election years.
Epitome of "opportunist!"
Probably pondering his next job.
Keep up the good work O'bama! Your division of Class, Gender and Race is working out beautifully! They will never examine your actual record as President as long as everybody is strangling each other!
You redneck a-holes will never understand what he is thinking. You can't because you have not been nor ever will be judged by your color. If he were not black, you wouldn't be using your bigoted sneers! By your comment however, you have proven what a worthless P.O.S. you are.
See what I mean!
You just judged me by my assumed color.
If MLK Jr could be here now, he'd take one look at Obama, roll his eyes, and mutter, "Dear God..." He knew all about Rosa Parks' strength and tenacity... but the Panderer in Chief.. not so much...
I am reminded of the photo of Pres. Clinton picking up that little flag at Normandy--something that was staged. This is such a pity because of the genuine gutsy event that took place in that bus. If the President had any class, he would have kept all the cameras away so as to give not even the appearance of desecrating this hallowed ground of the civil rights movement. Unfortunately, as he has so often shown, he is not of that ilk.
News flash.....Rosa's actions on that day were also "staged". When will some fools ever learn about "photo ops" with hidden agendas meant to inflame a cause - all of them are phony as h#ll. Hey prez, so far YOURS was the cheapest one and much more obvious than Rosa's, I've ever seen! Give me a break.
Racists in America hate being called racist. Look at how mad some of them are getting over Rosa Parks. Some of these posters are still mad about that. Southerners are still mad about Civil Rights. I remember when Republicans couldn't win an election for dog catcher in the South because of Reconstruction after the Civil War. That all change when Democrats passed the Civil Rights act of 1964.
Even though Obama is half white, all they are see is the black. Hardcore racists.
The guilt and jealousy the oozes from you guys is hilarious, but it reminds me why I am a progressive and what community organizing can do.
Its called freedom righties, don't be afraid change is ok.
If you make a negative comment about Obama you must be a "redneck" right Grumpy? People that think like you are pathetic.
So which side is the current Occupier of the WH on? I thought the CINC of the USA was on the side of all legal US citizens regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or economic status. I thought we were all on the same side?
Read and listen to his word carefully you will see he is not a unifier but unfortunately for our country the biggest divider in many decades.
You bunch of idiots! Never miss a thing in criticizing Obama. I guess you call yourselves Christians too, huh?
We: Change for change's sake isn't necessarily good. The irony of your last line "it's called freedom, righties" is striking, because the change advocated by the left involves a measure of surrendering one's freedom to the control of government--historically the most corruptible institution ever produced.
So Loren, you didn't answer my question from 1.12. What side is our President on?
Hey "we", having been raised in the South, I distinctly remember that it was YOUR Party, the Dimocraps and THE UNIONS who backed them that discriminated so harshly against Black fellow Americans. You remember, those guys with the Fire Hoses and Badges..Right!!! And having also lived in Wisconsin, the birthplace of Progressive horse crap, I also know that in the most liberal city in the Midwest, Madison, Blacks are treated as second class citizens still. So Blow Progressiveness out your a** big idiotic mouth.
We the corporations?
"it reminds me why I am a progressive and what community organizing can do"
How rich your statement is - btw you call yourself a Progressive, isn't that the NEW name for the OLD Communist Party here in the US. Why did your party change it's name....was it to fool people into not knowing what your real agenda was. Seriously, your party has more to hide about all of it's pastand current actions - you are not bloody innocents, pal. I wouldn't believe anything you were to say as truth.
it was a photo op. cheap and digusting. if he wanted to value history he could have told the camera people to leave the camera's on the plane. but nope, like all presidents he prefers a cheap photo op. if it was me i've have told them(the photogs) either the camera stays or you stay and that's final.
More divisive fodder from President Race & Class Warfare. Obama you are pathetic.
If he had a bus it would look just like that one!!!
Let us hope for change.
Oh, what a touching moment..... this one should be good for a few million votes from the sympathetic racial fools that thought this highly educated Lawyer, who'd never had a job in his life, was capable of running a country on the basis that he's black, or is that Molato.
99.9% of the US's black population votes for Obama, and the whites who didn't are called Racists. My, my, my..... that makes sense doesn't it, but the numbers right?.
Well liberals or should I say Racists lemmings, Obama's playing your tune again so listen up just 1-More-Term. Election time just ticked closer, there's still NO CHANGE and the HOPE for it is gone. $3 Trillion (TRILLION!!) dollars has been redistributed, gasoline (Nat. Avg.) is well over $4.00, Housing Market that the Clinton's Dem's drove into the ground using Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac as there tool of choice is still solidly dead and off of life support (Oh, I forgot, that's Bush's Fault), there's still No Jobs and Economy has gotten worse (Unless you believe in the tooth fairy and what the Liberal Lame Stream Media tells you), GITMO is still there, Afganistan we're definitely still there. Obama killed Obama Ben Laden using Dick Cheneys murderous bastards of Seal Team 6, Obama's taken 6 wonderful Luxury Vacations like no other president before him, Obama kicked off his Re-Election bid on your dollar 2 years earlier than any other president before him, his Idea of Change is the same old broken record TAX THE RICH song... Obamacare got rammed through, and Obama himself talks smack to the Judicial Branch, his appointed cronys (x2) get to vote on the legislation they worked on as non-Justices... how crooked is that.
I mean, it just doesn't get anymore In-Your-Face for crooked politics than this. It's like we're now in a 3rd. World Banana republic. If your not one of those little kids or children w/o a job and still dependent upon your mommy and daddy, take a good look at your Gasoline Bill, Utilities Bill, Grocery Bill..... is this what you voted for, is this was you were told to expect if you voted for Obama? Do you really believe that 10,000,000 more people will be covered by Obamacare and that your premiums wouldn't go up. Obamacare claims to insure that many more people, yet there are no additional doctors and 1,600 new IRS employees because of it. Your governement just grew exponentially in size and now needs even more tax dollars..... yet the Obama Administration and the 545 fools on the Hill can't even balance the Fed. Budget.... but want even more money to spend.
If you think socialism is the right answer, please name 1 socialist country that is successful to it's people, better to it's people, fairer to it's people than the USA.
Loren-4235488
You bunch of idiots! Never miss a thing in criticizing Obama. I guess you call yourselves Christians too, huh?
NEVER miss an opportunity to criticize christians, do you?
(aide speaking) Excuse, me- Mr. President...Mr. President...you forgot to wear your hoodie!
This is an extremely powerful picture and no matter what your political persuasion one should be impressed by it, period. It's a part of YOUR history and the history of this country, it's the history of racism and oppression. And it's history to observe the first black president sitting in the spot that proverbially "started it all."
But nevertheless, the usual suspects are on here crying "photo op" and "campaign stop," etc. Typical, reprehensible, and utterly predictable. Some of these comments are sick. Hey, at least he didn't don a flight suit...
Rosa Parks did so much to move the civil rights movement foward, while Obama has done so much to move it backwards.
His stance on the drug laws which lock up minorities across the country in such highly disproportionate numbers is one major issue that needs to be addressed.
Statisics show that 40% of the prison population is black, compared to only 12% of the adult civilian population.
Statistics also go on to show that over 40% of prisoners are incarcerated for non-violent drug offenses.
If Obama realy gave a @!$%# about black people, he would at least give some thought into looking at changing these racially biased laws and at the very least decriminalizing on a national level. Ending these hypocrtical drug wars and making addiction into a medical condition versus a criminal offense!!!
HUHHH.....how touching..........he is pondering where his next vacation will be!
I'm making a psychic prediction: Four more years.
no, but if you make a negative comment regarding THIS picture you're quite simply a hater, period.
There is NO REASON to criticize the president for this pic, it's powerful and historical.
I don't criticize this picture (http://images.huffingtonpost.com/2010-11-12-Bush.jpg), it's EQUALLY as powerful and perhaps even MORE historical, it's OUR president calming and defending OUR nation.
I F'ing hated Bush and probably 99% of his policies, yet I would never criticize the picture I linked above because of its context. Standing on that rubble with that bullhorn, Bush was 100% American, 100% correct, and 100% MY president.
Anyway, back to the point. You can criticize Obama all you want for his policies (although if you call him a socialist, you discount your opinion as you don't know anything), but to criticize him for the picture in question is just stupid, petty, and immature.
Isn't that special. Odumbo sits on a bus looking as racially divisive as possible. Good job. He knows that he is going to lose the next election and wants to act like a martyr. It's pathetic.
Where as others were so good to past presidents, right? Bush and Clinton never got any brutal criticism, huh?
Is today national comedian day or something? is this a joke, too? Bush is a Christian too, but i guess, the non-stop media and liberal assaults he got were OK. I guess only certain Christians are fair game. I see.
DG,
Obama is doing this as a stunt. I have no problem with him wanting to see the Rosa Parks bus while he's in town, I do have a problem that this has turned into a photo op for him. Many people can sympathize with what happened to Mrs. Parks without having to get on the bus for a photo op.
Obama is a "divider" simply because he sits in Rosa Parks bus? Oh Please..........
Republicans divided the country even before Obama was sworn in, with plans to "make him a one term president", and plan full obstruction.
http://www.ourfuture.org/fact-sheets-briefs/record-breaking-republican-obstructionism
http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/republicans-unprecedented-obstructionism-by-numbers
"Even before Barack Obama took the oath office, Republicans leaders, conservative think-tanks and right-wing pundits were calling for total obstruction of the new president's agenda. Bill Kristol, who helped block Bill Clinton's health care reform attempt in 1993, called for history to repeat on the Obama stimulus - and everything else. Pointing with pride to the Clinton economic program which received exactly zero GOP votes in either House, Kristol in January 2009 advised:
He is pondering who to throw under next.
How ignorant do you feel knowing that the Progressive Party PREDATES the Communist party...oh yeah thats an Allan "Teabag" West comment...dismissed.
Here is a Romney photo op: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/23/caption-this-mitt-romney-baby-photo-crying_n_1296550.html
How terrible, politicians having photo ops!
how the hell is he "looking" racially divisive. WTF?
So apparently you see an African American man recreating a seminal point in African American history, and YOU see it as a slap in the face to all white people? And you have to gall to call the President a racist for it?!?
WTF is wrong with you people, I f'ing weep for my country...
Bush and Clinton never got it as bad as Obama gets it, it's pretty blatant, and it's also pretty obvious that some (not all) of the attacks are racially motivated.
This thread is a microcosm of the fruits of O'bama's divisional tactics. America voted for the first black President in hopes of solidifying the trust that America has moved on from its divisive days of the past. The President did not see it that way, and instead chose to open old wounds for political gains. You have let us all down sir...
Drowning...
Don't let him fool you, he's only pretending to be black.
Bush got hammered by the media and liberals and of course some of it was warranted. Obama is getting flack from people on the right so how is this any different? The great thing about this country is we have to right to speak our minds as long as it doesn't result him physical harm.
^^^result in physical harm.
I don't have a problem with this picture-- it's a statement: 57 years ago a black woman made a stand against prejudice and began a journey towards equality in this country. 57 years later, a black man has secured the most powerful position in the same country as President of the United States. How far we have come. To juxtapose those two events in a photo like this is artful. Yes, it also scores some minor political points as a photo-op, but the history it describes is far more potent than that.
Am I voting for Obama this year? No. I don't like his policies nor his leadership style (with one exception: I love his approach to Al Qaeda dismantling :-), but can I appreciate this photo for what it represents on the historical arc of our country's progression? Absolutely. Anyone who can't see the significance of this image is definitely too busy playing the election year partisan hack.
I cant disagree with what you say here, but you have to consider the reaction to this by the way he is running his campaign...This defines the prism in which people see this photo op. If he chose to be a uniter, I guarantee people would see this photo in the light that you described. There is no doubt in my mind.
We the corporations?
Perhaps you should learn your history a little better...The Progressive party was infiltrated, by Communist Party followers in 1948. Their doctrine has been followed ever since. They purposely picked the Progressive party because of it's radical left linage and because the American people would not tolerate the name "Communist Party! Come on and show YOUR ignorance some more.
Right on with this comment. MLK Jr would spit in his face even though he was a man of unity, grace and peace. Total oppisite of Obamanation.
Why not show these photo ops of the prez??
theobamafile.com/_shakystuff/RumorDownLow.htm
Obama also won't be happy till he divides this country as his possible daddy would have. You the man from the Nation of Islam, who promoted violence Malcom X. Even if he is not daddy, Obamanation has at least stated that he is his hero. Yeah your hero is a man of violence and seperation of the races instead peace and unity.
Somebody needs to show the bummer that he already has over 90% of the african american votes according to the latest poll. He must be pandering to our 4% that Romney is predicted to get.
I admire the "courage and tenacity" that Rosa Parks had for her stance but it would probably P!$$ her off to no end to see that the bummer is using her for political gains. He just lost what little bit of credibility he had with me.
This is an indication that he feels he is farther behind than the polls suggest.
Actually jdmbo3, you had it right the first time.....speaking of "da prez," that is....
....his first bus ride.
Why not show these photo ops of the prez??

OOps double post...Hahaha
The real question is how many other people, regardless of race, are allowed to pose in that seat?
To me it looks like he is pondering how much he has pissed off the Parks family.
why does the current president need to campaign? Shouldn't the last 4 years tell us all we need to know as to why NOT to vote for this POS in command?
WE---maybe you should look into a guy named Karl Marx, who lived and wrote the "Communist Manifesto" before the founder of the progressive party(Roosevelt) was even born, but you probably wouldn't know that listening to your comi buddies!!!
Everybody! Sing de praises of de Odumma wit me!
Odumma! Odumma!
He not a world wunda!
socialistika! marxistica!
he no like constitutia! (barack to Odumma! line, X2)
He like wright! not no right!

he no like a man with gunny! (again,to Odumma line, X2)
Soros Buya! can't denya!
gotta destroy dollara!
Amerika not America!
he don't want hysteria! (on second thought, let's NOT go back to the Odumma hook and line, ever again...)
I am voting for President Obama's reelection because I am definitely better off than I was under Bush and I believe that I would have been even better off if Congress would have spent more time working with him instead of working to make him look bad and we would be further along on the path to a better economy.
Again, what the hell has Obama done that has been racially divisive? Please provide some examples. And for the record, this picture is IN NO WAY racially divisive, to think so is lunacy.
I find that the rhetoric being spewed about him (e.g., "barack the magic negro", pictures of him with a bone in his nose, there are literally 1000 examples to choose from) is FAR more divisive than ANYTHING Obama himself has done.
wtf does that even mean? See folks, this an example of something that actually IS racially divisive. Sitting on a historical bus and pondering history is not...
Thank you WMG-21. A voice of freaking reason! You can vote for this man, or not vote for him, that's your prerogative. But at least recognize the significance of this picture. Good post...
Skorned, again, how exactly has Obama been divisive in a racial sense? You cannot hold Obama responsible for the rhetoric other parties choose to spew with regard to him, and believe me, the rhetoric spouted about Obama has been over the top from day 1.
It's ridiculous. Obama could say "We're trying to make this country great again" and people from your side would say "there he goes again, trying to divide us instead of unite us." Seriously, wtf are you talking about?
Man, leave it to the @!$%#ing teabaggers to attack a black man as he pays his respects to Rosa Parks. At least it's refreshing to see that some people refuse to stoop to that level.
Oh Pleeez Grandpa
Obama got exactly what they wanted and he had planned for. When you get it through your thick skull that there is no real difference between the 2 parties then you will get it. Let''s just say they did work against him, then why not grow a spine and stand up to them? Even if your vetos were rejected or what not atleast he would have shown the he stands up for what he "tells you". No instaed he caves at the first sign of resistance. Even with the signing of NDAA he states some crap about how he signed it "with reservations". No how about stand up and say NO, stamp with veto even if you can't over turn it. Problem is at this point he has shown that he follows what his handlers (CIA) tells him to do.
Rosa would be sick and she most likely is doing 360s(spinning) in her grave right now. That little old lady would most likely kick his pickle smuggling arze
Here is what he is thinking as he looks out the window "I guess I need to make this election about race since everything I have done to fix this economy has failed - how can I continue to keep this race war going"?
how on earth does this picture "make the election about race?" Honestly, how?
I wish I had the time to go through this message board and repost all the racist drivel that's already been thrown around (note, I am NOT accusing the post I quoted of being overtly racist, but there are plenty of examples abound). Of course, by doing so, the usual suspects would accuse ME of racism for simply quoting other's words....
Figures Toasty the shill would chime in.
How about where was he when he could have had photo ops for the Japanese Americans that were forced into internment and had there property stolen. Where has he been for ANY photo ops for the real Americans-Indians, people wo suffered far worse than the black man has ever suffered in this country. Yet he also caters to South America ( Brazil, Columbia, etc.) where 100 times more Negros/Black were killed due to slavery and oppression. How about no pgoto op for JFK, a man who did so much for the black community. Why no photo op for JFK???? well because this might just help unite the people and his hero Malcom X would be pissed(in his grave).
Kornfed/Skorned:
Pray tell, exactly, how this was going to happen when the Republican politicians specifically stated that their job from Day 1 of Obama's presidency was to block any and all things Obama/Democrat?
There's Republican politicians stating that Obama is the worst president of all time...before he ever even stepped foot in the White House. They said it early enough that it is now a mantra amongst Republicans. How exactly is anyone going to work through that sort of obstructionist rhetoric?
And for the record before someone comes along and calls me a dirty communist liberal or whatever adjective you pull out from your tinfoil hat, the Democrats were/are just as bad when there's a Republican president. So if Romney gets elected and the Democrats do the same thing, how are you going to feel when the roles are reversed?
It's stupid. You all are stupid. The only people that lose in this fight are we, the average citizens. Grow the @!$%# up and knock off this tit-for-tat, toddler bull@!$%#. Our first black president sat on a bus involved in American Civil Rights - it's sweet and endearing - if you don't want to vote for the guy then don't, but at least accept that this event wouldn't and hasn't happened earlier in our history so it's kind of neat to see it now.
fishman, you cite examples of Japenese internment camps, native Americans, and JFK as things that should "help unite the people."
Yet you take issue with his celebrating Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights movement and think that this moment is "divisive." (in reality, the Civil Rights movement is just as prideful and important to history as ANY of the other examples you cite).
I wonder why that is? Hmmm?
I think not. POTUS was so busy at the start of the administration trying to be the uniter, but the opposing agenda was clear. Oppose the Uniter-In-Chief at every possible turn and get him out of office. All the way up to, and including the healthcare debate, he tried to work with republicans. Early in his administration, he avoided the partisan politics and was seen as "weak" to (R) and they came at his neck.
He had a Democratic House and Senate and STILL tried to come into the Presidency with an open palm. Do you really think he couldn't have been a bull and gone with sweeping changes then? He decided to reach across the asile, tried to get cooperation.... Remember all those early meetings with Bohener, Senate and House leaders?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-A09a_gHJc
Naaaa..... He was never gonna get the cooperation of (R).
http://www.gallup.com/poll/117874/first-100-days-obama-seen-making-bipartisan-effort.aspx
Drowning...
What I mean is...has everyone forgotten that he is only half. Since he is dark skinned, he uses his color to act like something he is not. One could just as easily call him white, except for the fact that he is dark. This is not racist, just factual.
So Grover then where the heck was Obama when Rosa really could have used his help? He was not there to help her then, he just now want's to use her name. The Baptist Church gets credit for raising her rent when she was due to be evicted due to other black folks basically stealing from her. I know first hand it was not just the Baptist Church who helped her. In fact my auntand family a white women/folks donated a decent chunk of that money. My aunt also helped again when she was due for her last eviction even though she had nothing to do with the building ownership. Everyone at that time tried to shame the building owners but they fail to realize that there was a board to answer to and that board had to meet to ok the forgiveness of back rent and anymore to come. So now in a couple months Obama has come forward for his race. One with his claim of Trayvon being like a son he would have had and now this pic.
With Martin instead of saying people should remain calm and wait for justice and for the investigation to run it's course, he choose to make the quote he did which does nothing to help the division at the time.
You say Hmm I wonder why that is? What the heck does that mean? If you think I have something against blacks you are way off. I spent hours chatting with many of themn in Jamaica, NY just last night. Trust me the ones(most) at one of my favorite soul food rest. don't like Obama either. I myself have also met, spoke with and had(bought) lunch with Rosa Parks while in Michigan visting my aunt. Also due to my aunt and Rosa I have also stood on that bus. I do feel with what I know about her, really only a few hours but spent talking the whole time that she would not be pleased with Obama's actions. She had also said in our talks(just casual and by chance) that 2 of her saddest days where the death of MLK and JFK. She was a great lady and much greater than just for riding the bus. Also if Obama really cared maybe he could have sat in her seat
Um, how is he acting like something he's not? In case you haven't noticed, Obama is a black man.
One could NOT call Obama white, cause he's not. And you are correct that it is NOT racist to point out that Obama's mother is white.
------------------------------
@ fishman
um.... six years from being conceived? Rosa Parks sat on that bus in 1955, Obama was BORN in 1961...
What's funny is that when Obama made his statement about Trayvon Martin, it essentially consisted of "people should remain calm, wait for justice, and give the investigation time to run it's course." Obama's remarks about Trayvon Martin were 100%, absolutely, IN NO WAY divisive.
Here, I suggest you reread them: http://www.jessewashington.com/1/post/2012/03/obama-speaks-on-trayvon-martin.html
Of course, rightwing news sources latched on to the comments and immediately called them divisive, not because the remarks actually WERE divisive, but merely cause they could score cheap political points. (That's why the link to Obama's full remarks is so obscure, cause I had to search through 4 pages of google search with articles likes "Santorum calls Obama's Trayvon Martin remarks Divisive" and "Newt calls Obama's remarks 'disgraceful'" and other such nonsense to find his ACTUAL remarks in full...)
Drowning...
What i'm saying is, black folks seem to see Obama and say 'he's black like me', and then associate it as 'he is like me'. Well, he is not like you or me or the vast majority of us. Not even close. Don't fool yourself.
Goes to show how one tracked you are. Can you not read? Rosa was at risk of being homeless...Twice no less. Show me one quote when Obama showed he cared when it mattered. Who really knows when he was born except for a few. The document shown is not a birth certificate, he basically states that someone is alive and when the birth was stated. I have had my whole life a full and short form birth certificate along with everyone I know around my age(close to Obamas). If asked to see it or one, I don't have to make people wait while paying millions to hid my past and then go get a cert. of live birth. No I would get a birth certificate just like my neighbor has who was also born in Hawaii and has had it his whole life. Who the heck does not keep one in this day in age? Heck you even need a Birth Cert to get a US Passport, Sorry I don't buy the crap of I lost or misplaced it.
I also never stated that Rosa strife and history was not great but just where the heck has he been regarding the others who have been wronged. The reason he does not goto Jfk's grave to ponder or say a prayer is he may be caught turning towards Mecca
Okay, well I can stop having any form of discussion with you, you don't live in reality. Next....
----------
@BigTex
in that you are correct, Obama is very wealthy now (although he didn't grow up that way) and does not have a lot in common with your average citizen of this country. But that can be said of any president basically.
Grover
I also saw the whole Trayvon Comment as it was asked by the media. His only remark about coming together was federal, state and local(as in government)...He never said the people. Also claiming we need to do some soul searching...for what???? Because a black "kid" No young man got shot. For what you can not claim to know and if you do you are just spouting crap. How about the soul searching for all the other horiffic crime out there. By crime I don't mean burning of the Quran which he also choose to remark about and apologize for but demanded nothing for the Americans that lost their lives(atleast 5 murdered) from this event.
Just like you to take part of the whole subject I made and dissmiss it. When looked at it in a whole it does not make sense not to have one. Everyone I know has one and can produce when needed. Now granted some down on their luck folks may not be able to but He is not one of them. Just admit you are a shill and I hope you like that kool aid you have been drinking
Naa.... we/I don't think "he's black like me", just the closest thing the establishment will let around to being that close to me.... The closest we/I ever had, and by the divisiveness shown in the last three years, will probably ever get to being...
Not like me at all, I'm not a Harvard educated, constitutional scholar making $750k per year...
Noone is fooling themselves but it is what it is. I voted for Clinton, not just because of his policy, but he had that..... "closest thing to a brotha we gonna have" "esqness" about him, despite being a Rhodes scholar at Oxford....
Is this wrong/racist? Probably. Is it ok to vote that way for that reason? Probably not.
I, personally, think the reason so many white folks voted for Obama was not out of "white guilt", but a sense that he was "educated and articulate enough" for them in the opposition to the Bush/Reagan "not so hopeful" policies, and they were ready for a change (The reason why the "Hope and Change" slogan was so popular...).
It is what it is...
I'm Just Sayin'...
Are we STILL doing this?
Want him out SOOOOOOOOO BAD this conspiracy theory won't go away?? I'm surprised when you met Ms. Parks (as you claim) fishman-1985527, you didn't ask for HER birth certificate (unless you already knew that when she was born, most black folks in the south weren't even given the privilege of being issued a birth certificate....). The very thing this photo-op was meant to provoke thought on....
Cult of Birthers still around...... Go figure......
Drowning: Are you SERIOUSLY going to ask me WHY this election is about race? Have you not SEEN what this president has done to create race wars while he has been in office? Republicans don't care that Obama is black - our concern is he is incompetent. Never has worked a day in his life in the private sector where revenue and cost were closely monitored. No, he has been a Community Organizer (and now a Community Organizer in Chief) and what do THEY do? That's right - stir up race issues and making everything about race. Remember the professor at Hartford and basically calling the Cambridge Police Department racists without any evidence? Same with the Trayvon Martin situation happening recently. Why is Obama even MAKING a comment about a local issue? To create race issues. What Obama SHOULD have done was at the time mention the Trayvon Martin incident is a tragic situation and let the legal system do it job and George Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty. But Obama didn't - that would have taken class which is something Obama doesn't have.
Then we have an Attorney General (Erik Holder) who has TAPE of the Black Panthers intimidating and harassing voters in Pennsylvania but certainly don't want to stop THAT!! That is because this administration promotes race wars. And I could go on and on. It was not ME that has brought up these race topics and "kicking the hornet's next" it was our Campaigner in Chief Barrack Hussein Obama. This country cannot heal until this useless incompetent and damaging president is removed from the White House (BTW, I am shocked Obama is still allowing the White House to go by that name - I figured Obama would have changed it by now.........).
Are we STILL doing this?
Well considering she this was not and issue more than a decade ago I would not have asked her. She is also someone I did not know well enough to ask that. Also most of her history is right there and was also right in front of me, not shrouded in some cloak that took millions to hide. Again just take something and change it into something that could not have happened or would not have as it was not an issue then. Now like you said there are many from the south theat may not have a BC but there are also many from all over but those are folks(or most) that are down on there luck. A free ride to Columbia and Harvard does not make you one of them.
fishman, your racism is showing again.
Stand by 4 more hatred..............
@ ProBusiness,
I have seen the tape too!! See it for yourself the "Harassment and Intimidation" going on (as the white folks are coming outside and the white guy in the suit is standing next to them the whole time.....)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neGbKHyGuHU
What?? Now you are complaining that they are harassing black voters? Really?? This neighborhood is dominated by the black and puerto-rican residents there. Richard Allen Projects (at one time THE MOST VIOLENT area of Phila.) are right across the street!!!
I don't, and will NEVER support their actions, but they were asking for attention and people who keep using this as an example of voter intimidation are really lousing up the cause for all the REAL intimidation that goes on by giving them EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT.
Still waiting to see what policy and what law the President has proposed that help minority folks only....
Still Waiting to see what law or policy The POTUS has championed to not include white folks....
PLEASE POST SO WE ALL CAN FACT CHECK. Or is this another poor attempt at race baiting...
LOL @ the birther fishman...
-------------
The president has done nothing to create a race war while in office. Absolutely nothing. That hasn't stopped some media personalities and others from insinuating he has (although he hasn't) and fanning the flames of a race war themselves, but no, President Obama has not stirred a race war in any way, shape, or form. To suggest he has is pure paranoia.
Him making the comment has less to do with him trying to create "race issues" and more to do with him answering a question that was asked of him at a press conference. A press conference that WAS NOT called to talk about the Trayvon Martin case by the way.
Um, that's pretty much exactly Obama's statement minus the infamous "if I had a son..." quote. His comments are pretty damn benign.
again, it has far less to do with "promoting race wars" and far more to do with the fact that the Bush justice department dropped the case in 2008, and then upon re-examining the case in January 2009 (before Obama took office) pressed charges against Samir Shabazz (the NBPP member in question) and found him guilty. Eric Holder had barely any involvement in the case whatsoever, or at least little involvement outside the imaginations of rightwing conspiracy nuts...
By all means, please do, so far you haven't provided even a single relevant event to show that Obama is fomenting a race war. You're just repeating the squakings of a menagerie of Fox News and AM talk radio voices that are TELLING you Obama is fomenting a race war, even if there is no evidence to suggest such ridiculous assertions.
Ah yes, I almost forgot, it's Obama that makes everything racial....
Drowning:
Wrong, wrong, and ummmmm wrong. Did Obama claim that the Cambridge police department stopped the professor only because the professor was black? Yes. Did he later find out the police department was NOT racist? Yes. Did he publicly apologize for initiating race into the situation without ANY knowledge? No. He had a beer - and THAT was supposed to eliminate his racist assumptions.
With Trayvon Martin Obama did not say ONCE that George Zimmerman was innocent until proven guilty? Here is the Obama Statement:
"Well, I'm the head of the executive branch and the attorney general reports to me, so I've got to be careful about my statements to make sure that we're not impairing any investigation that's taking place right now.
But, obviously, this is a tragedy. I can only imagine what these parents are going through. And when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids. And, you know, I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this and that everybody pulls together -- federal, state and local -- to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened.
So I'm glad that not only is the Justice Department looking into it, I understand now that the governor of the state of Florida has formed a task force to investigate what's taking place. I think all of us have to do some soul-searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that we examine the laws and the context for what happened, as well as the specifics of the incident.
But my main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon. And, you know, I think they are right to expect that all of us, as Americans, are going to take this with the seriousness it deserves and that we're going to get to the bottom of exactly what happened."
So where EXACTLY in that statement did he tell the citizens of this country to not make assumptions and that George Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty? No, his comments were racially dividing.
Regarding Erik Holder don't do the "typical" liberal lies and distractions. I made a comment about the Black Panthers intimidating voters (which is a felony) and our Attorney General made the decision to not review. Don't bring up "but there was a case.....". We are NOT talking about other cases. We are talking about ONE case where blacks intimidated and threatened white voters at a precinct and our Attorney General did nothing. I ASSURE you if a white group intimidated a BLACK voting precinct it would have made front page on EVERY newspaper and both state and federal felony crimes would have been charged. But NOT if the group doing the threatening was black. And where was our president? He should have came out and stated publicly that our U.S. elections MUST be kept honest or our system collapses and DEMANDED Erik Holder review the facts. But he didn't - because they were black.
And the White House comment? Simply a surprise that's all. Since this president is so racially divisive I am just surprised he has not complained about it being called the White House...........
how pathetic! Another photo op. Look at me, I am sympathetic to Rosa Parks, like anyone else is not???
If she were still alive, I bet she would bitch slap him and good for USING her!
Keep trying to change the subject there, Fishman...
Wow! The racists are really coming out of the woodwork on this one. I like this picture, our black president honoring a hero of the black struggle for equal rights in our country. All these posters seem to leave out all the horrible things that happened during that time, black churches bombed, civil right workers murdered, marchers blasted with water cannons, police dogs tearing into people, and in the background the white police officers smiling and laughing, talk about a photo op!! As a white person I admire President Obama and his family for trying to unite our country. When he was elected I thought good for us, as a country we are healing the racism that has long divided our people, boy was I wrong, having black people in the White House drives our racists crazy, the ones in congress, the ones on the streets, the klan, Ted Nugent, the neo-nazis, those guys really hate him. If President Obama had a picture taken of him saying good morning to people, our racists would still be pissed. They will have a chance to hate him for another four years though, I'm voting for him and I believe a majority of our people will too, albeit a small majority. But as Shakespeare wrote, "tis enough"!!
"Get to the back of the bus, Whitey". -- Obama
Grumpy Old McCain, JPJohnson, jdmb03, Loren-4235488, BK-3328579, you're each suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
Ummmm obvioulsy your the product of a liberal revisionist education (Let me guess went to a major university did we?).... Better check your history. it was those EVIL RACIST REPUBLICANS that wrote, introduced & led the charge on the Civil Rights Act in 1964 dude...
racists make me SICK!
obama WILL unite this country and people who would like to go back to the 50's will LOSE. you all will lose.
maybe if he could have eeked out a couple crockidile tears like pansy bush eh?
The Rosa parks incident was really not that critical. And Jesse Jackson ranting like a psychopath wasn't either. Most of these acts had the opposite effect and polarized the people further against the cause of equality. It is ironic that many of the do-gooders on this site wouldn't hesitate to point the finger at a black kid with a dew rag and low hanging pants if they were ripped off.
The component that sparked great change was when children began to protest. They were manhandled, blown across the street with fire-hoses, and subjected to violence that caused sentiments to rise.
The irony is no-one would let Rosa sit where she wanted and it was symbolic of a need for change. And in this photo sits a lone man, no one backing him, wanting to sit next to him, or even on the the same bus as him and it too is symbolic of a need for change.
I can't imagine a father not wanting to enlighten his children, sit in reverence with them at a site of such magnitude, and share his thoughts of how this event made the world a better place. Unless of course it wasn't so much about the event occurring years ago and more about the November event.
no that he is on - lock the doors - and call Freddie Kruger to take him for a ride
election time...catering to the black vote....
Almost everything he does is race related. He is the biggest racist of all.
I've lived in a country where blacks were a majority and elections were all about race. In America, it is about race and Obama is feeding the divisions. However, in this instance he is reminding the whites of their indiscretions and in effect he is capitalizing on their guilt to vote for him. He did this in 2008. You will see divisions along race, education, wealth etc.
This election should be about his competence and his record. Upon analysis, you will see that he is neither competent nor has a good record.
very well said anony!
Man you racist senior citizens are out in force today with your daily dose of paranoia.
Couldn't have said it better myself. This is a pathetic ploy for it to boot. It is going to be a LONG few months ahead. Get your boots on!
You fools forget that his mother and grandparents that raised him were white. ... but I guess that doesn't matter, because all you see is black! What pigs!
Yeah Loren...and their pictures are all over the WH living quarters. NOT!!!! The only time he even mentions mom and granny are when he is pandering for the idiotic leftwing liberal sheep vote.
I dont see him at the white history museum pandering to the white people loren! Oh wait you fool there is no white history museum because it would be percieved as racist. Every day I am judged by the black population and I am sick of it. Keep it up. I was once tolerant but now I am going the other way because the pres wants me too. This is going to be fun!
of just an African American enjoying one of the most historic settings in African American history, perhaps pondering the gigantic steps forward this nation has taken over the last 50+ years since Rosa sat down on that bus. In 1955 a black woman couldn't sit in the front of the bus, and in 2008, a black man got elected President. That's pretty powerful history folks, especially if you're African American (although it should be powerful and uplifting history to ALL Americans).
Let's see. Who can I toss under this bus?
Obama must be ashamed of his white heritage - he never mentions it
funny, though ...his black father abandoned him as a child
If I were Obama, I'd be more ashamed of that side of my family
that's such Bull@!$%#. An African American pondering his peoples history at a seminal spot IN that history is in no way racist. It's like a WWII vet (or the children of someone who died there) going to Normandy and being pensive and reserved, same thing.
Now, what IS racist is suggesting that someone is racist in doing so...
Anony Mous1 - What you suggested is correct. When you have not met any of your last campaign promises and your administration is in constant turmoil, it is not a bragging point. Therefore, you must try to distract those that may not have quite focused on your ineptitudes.
drowning---you forgot to mention that the other side of his family, the side that raised him is/was white. Please elaborate on why that post was such "BS"??? Instead of just saying sometheing it would be nice to back it up with something...or anything!!!
Anony Mous1
I agree with your post 100%. Politicians - and I include left, right, dem, repub - will never run on their records unless they speak in half truths. So I watch and listen to what it is they do and say while in office. I may not be the brightest bulb on the tree, but I know bullsh*t when I see it and I know political opportunism, as well. Voters will always be manipulated because they allow themselves to be. It's the 'ole team spirit and my jersey against their jersey battle. Right or wrong I'm backing my team. Politicians play on that and use it to their advantage. I was a democrat from birth, later in life I became a republican. Now having seem what politicians/politics have become I believe I've become smarter. I now pay attention to political performance - what is a politicians history, how have they addressed REAL issues and dealt with them, have they been true to their election rhetoric, have I seen any indications of behind the scenes activity or agendas not spoke of before - most of all I look to what I consider the honesty and truth of the person......I don't care about team, I don't care about jersey's.....I care about us - America and the truth of our heritage. I don't want it changed because it is who we are, we need to know who we are, where we came from and where we go.
He doesn't hide that, it's common knowledge. But as far as race is concerned, his skin is black, and that is more than enough for him to be considered "100% black" in the eyes of an American populace. If he had been in Birmingham in the 50's, he would have been hosed down too! The cops wouldn't have stopped and said "but his mother's white, avert the water cannons!"
Make no mistake, Obama is biracial, but he's a black man.
The post is BS because it calls Obama "the biggest racist of them all" when he has done nothing to suggest any such thing. I don't remember Obama getting elected and stating things like "it's black christmas, white people look out!" (I DO, on the other hand, remember Glenn Beck, as well as many others, saying such nonsense however).
WTF has he done that's racist? And how can I "back it up with something" the only thing I can offer to substantiate my claim is to offer no proof to the contrary, cause there ain't any. All I see on this board are people who already hate Obama (for whatever reason) getting offended by anything the man does and in some instances, superimposing their own racist tendencies onto whatever action Obama takes.
DrowningGrover
The rhetoric, overt and hidden, has gone wayyyyy overboard for this POTUS. I don't mind someone judging him because of his policies but when people start talking race wars and the like, It makes them seem..... Hateful..... Vindictive......
Wonder where all that hate comes from?? I feel sorry for them. I will pray for them in church, on Sunday.
And for the record, robbopaloobop, and DarwinG, he rarely mentions either side of his family, black or white. He will comment when asks questions, but almost never brings the topic up himself. An interesting avoidance to say the least, calculated at best.....
Pray tell JJ, how is this racist in any conceivable way?
What most of you racist idiots don't understand is, pardon to the birthers, President Obama was born in Hawaii. Hawaii is a multiracial, multicultural state, most of the local people here have several ethnic backgrounds in their make-up from their ancestors, President Obama included. People don't talk about their multiracial heritage because it's common knowledge. Most of you racists won't get this, but our racial diversity is one of our countries great strengths.
Never in my lifetime have I ever seen a President that does everything he can to create animosity between race and class. I thought the President of the United States was supposed to bring his countrymen/women together not tear us apart by race bating and class warfare.
titan- How would this cause any animosity between race? Please turn off the faux noise.
What our President isn't allowed to be proud about how far this country has come?
Grow-up!
@hummbird: the only thing "faux" is Mr. Obama....and Mrs. Obama, only recently proud of her county.
Faux, faux, faux. The new "F" word. Perfect description.
"Obama faux president!"
I figured the worms would come out of the woodwork on this. One thing the rabid right doesn't understand is thoughtful reflection and deep pride for living in a nation where such a non-violent movement for equality was not beset by a national government trying to kill them all. There was a lot of violence against them, and their perseverance has brought them greater honor, and great shame on their white persecutes.
Thank you, Mr. President, for showing us your compassion while knowing that many on the right would hate you for it.
You liberals just have your heads in your azz don't you? Blind as a bat and can't see the real picture. He is doing just what titan said, using race and the history of racism to garner votes from the uneducated.
Right on tempusfugit1.
Some people are so easily impressed.
Sorry Mr President.. Rosa Parks was impressive... you are not..
Those who can say that our president isn't good for this country (Republican racists) has NEVER been in the struggles that he and many Black American's have been in and still continue to go through (Treyvon Martin). People hate to use the race card but that's what keeps this country divided! These elected officials have proven that on too many occassions by avoiding his goal of bipartisanship to bring both sides together. You are the same people that refuse to believe that George Bush sunk this country financially and put the blame on President Obama. How could he sink a ship that's already on the bottom! Give him credit for trying to bring it to the surface! Your ignorance is amazing!
I don't believe there are many, if any, that "hate him for it" in your words. I do believe it to be opportunistic. If he truly said "ponder the courage and tenacity that is part of our very recent history", then he has a lot of pondering to do as his knowledge and or ignorance of our very recent history (our recent history, our NATIONS' history) skews how important Americas' existence has been over the last 200+ years. He is a VERY divisive president.
So when George W. Bush celebrated Civil Rights, was he a racist try to separate America? A lot of these early morning posters are seniors who miss the racism of the 50's and 60's.
Qboro, do some homework... Laws passed under Carter gave the Fed Gov't power to force banks to make loans to people who couldn't pay them back.. Frank and Dodd kept W from regulating Fannie and Freddie so they kept buying up the bad loans, and laws passed under Clinton allowed banks to play in the investment arena, and Fannie and Freddie to package the loans as securities and sell them to our 401Ks... one big orchestrated Liberal wealth redistribution scheme.. taxpayers have paid $140 Billion to bail out Fannie and Freddie (with zero payback), and investors got fleeced on the securities scam. THAT's why the economy and the housing market tanked. You can try to blame Bush all you want, but the pesky facts get in the way... And Obama's failed progressive policies have just made it worse... and now that he can't run on his record, he's demonizing success and capitalism to pander to the welfare crowd... what a joke this guy is....
Are you kidding? He's been fighting the republicans on everything since he's been in office. He's been stoking the flames of partisanship since day 1. What kind of president says "get over it, we won"?
Is this supposed to be a joke, too? Unemployment got way worse (and remains way worse) for years under Obama, as did our debt, as did our national credit rating, as did the price of gas, as did class/race/gender warfare and to this day, he, and people like you, are STILL blaming Bush.
Damn, it's amazing just how backwards, oblivious, and what downright hypocrites Obama supporters are!!
Jax A: You see, the partisan rhetoric is at an all time high and not only can people not hear, they cannot see. The fact that Obama is a failure does not factor into their decision. We have to hope that the Independents really turn this in favor of Romney.
Jax you know you're lying to yourself and everyone else. Reducing revenue by cutting taxes and starting a war has devastating effects on a budget.
Even George W. Bush disagrees with you. Republicans still don't mention George W. Bush by name or even refer to his presidency. Why do you think that is? I'll let George W.Bush tell you himself:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsDmPEeurfA
I rest my case. Hatred prevails. I'm surprised so many of the "Christian" right family "values" folks visit MSNBC.
QNYC,
What struggles has Obama gone through? Seems to me he had a pretty good life. He also went to Harvard, tough times for Obama.
umgawa and titan .... there has always been a class struggle in America. It started in the 1700's. And I'm no scholar but I know that I am not uneducated. People like you are a problem for all people. You would rather sweep your trash under a rug and make believe that everything is all right on the surface. And if a Black person mentions something pertaining to race you start whining, "they playing the race card, they playing the race card." Well the race card has been played since the first European landed on the shore of this country. This is a historical fact. Ask the Native Americans. Well anyway the race card has changed players. Deal with it.
JPJohnson, like most liberals, you're the one who is delusional. Cutting taxes gives people and businesses more discretionary income. It's amazing how people like you believe that when people have LESS money, they'll either somehow consume more, hire more, or invest more. Just how stupid can people be? Even Obama agrees with me on this one...as you know, after almost four years of saying "we have to tax rich and evil corporations even more!"...he magically changed his mind a few months ago and agreed to lower taxes on corporations. I wonder why that is?
And last time I checked, Congress, including dems like Kerry, Hillary, Reid, and Pelosi, voted for the war you democrats want to somehow claim Bush started on his own.
Your MSDNC and CNN talking points are so stale.
JPJohnson it was in George Bush's best interest to celebrate Civil Rights. He was fooling no one but you.
JDMBO3
Everyone that goes to Harvard is not Rich....and your statement just shows that you are listening to a bunch of BullSh-t and not investigating this President on your own. Do your Homework and stop being lead around by others that obviously have not done theirs.
crlanc
JPJohnson it was in George Bush's best interest to celebrate Civil Rights. He was fooling no one but you.
_----------------------------------
Spoken like a true racist. So celebrating Civil Rights is about appearances now? All that Christian talk about loving your neighbor is all BS. When it comes to Right-wingers, most people already know that. God and Jesus hate the people you hate.
I did do my homework. Obama had a C average through high school, he surely didn't get into Harvard with his grades. And according to you he wasn't rich so I guess he must have had some help getting in. Affirmative Action perhaps?
JPJohnson..... On the contrary. You think I'm racist because I point out a racist. And as a Christian I know you got your comment wrong about God and the lord Jesus Christ. The scripture says to love thy neighbor. It doesn't say I have to like him and 1 John it states that God is love and Jesus said, "a new commandment I give you. Love have love for one another as I have loved you"(paraphrasing). Where do you get this hate from?
You people are sick. I can't believe the posts on this board. Obama simply BEING black has created animosity between races in this country, but not because of anything thing Obama has actually DONE.
100% unequivocally false.
I predict it is only a matter of time before somebody photoshops in pictures of al and jesse sitiing behind the bummer with their raised clenched fists of the "Black Power" sign from the 60's.
Hobbes' Notes, umgawa, QboroNYC, you're each suspended for a day for violating #1 of the Code of Honor.
I think the power has gone to your head.
This is inspiring to see our President sitting where a brave Women sat Rosa Parks, who just had enough of being treated like a second class citizen.
It does make me sad that now when people peacefully protest today, like the OWS or the protest's about justice for Trayvon Martin, that it seems to be met with such fear, hate and misunderstanding by many of my fellow Americans.
We still have a ways to go, but no going backwards for me!
Obama/Biden 2012
Nobody minds the PEACEFUL protests. However, bounties were put out on people wanting them DEAD or alive, people were threatened, innocent people had to move from their houses and live in fear if they stayed, people were beaten and lives were lost that were linked to the hatred that was encouraged by the racial divisions that were purposely created with no proof.
Whether it is for Trayvon or for Tea Party, peaceful protests are welcome. Overly disruptive protests, protests based on hate, and protests that encourage violence are not welcome.
It it appears that many are calling this divisive although if they had the chance to try on a confederate generals sword they would do so in a minute and feel pride. This is the hypocrisy of the right. They re-inact the civil war each year and that is OK. Idiots!
I agree. Dressing up in confederate uniforms is fine even though the cause was not just. So remembering a moment that moved our nation forward is somehow not. This is hyprocisy pure and simple.
It doesn't make sense to link the claim of divisiveness with a overt call of racism. In fact, claiming racism with no proof is in sign of bigotry. There was in fact divisiveness created by those who chose to do so. And to claim hypocrisy of the others based on your assumed claims of racism with no proof only shows hypocrisy in regards to the bigotry.
Keeping the race issue front and center for you hummbird. The President thanks you.
Obama thinks of everything. Before you know it he will be on the border in Arizona being photographed with the undocumented democrats (Mexican illegals) sneaking across the border. They can't call him a gringo!!
What a capital idea, Brian....are you sure you don't work for the White House Press Corps?
(aide to president) Mr. Obama...Mr. Obama....here is your sombrero!
@brian,
LMAO. Someone want ot give me even money on that one?
Dumb story!
Regarding last comment, I am not black but he deserves and will most certainly get my vote! I too would want to sit in that seat alone for a few moments and just ponder. A great photo, Mr. President. Keep working hard for us Americans! I see just how hard you (Mr. President) do work! THANK YOU! kudos to the photographer too! Great photo!
You are not black? So you are telling me Obama needed to do this now? Can this be to get voters or create more divisions? Why would Obama get your vote? What did he do that you see as successful?
Um, he was kinda in the area and decided to stop by.
how would this picture "create more divisions", other than angering those who see him in purely racial terms, of course...
Hey Anony Mous1, I'm white and I'm voting for President Obama's reelection for many reasons. But the one that really sticks out is getting Osama. That works for me!! Bush let him go after he killed 3000 on American soil. President Obama kept after him and finally got him. He will get the rest of them also. Yes he's got my vote, f$#@ Al Quieda and the camels they rode in on!!
titan- I was busy commenting on your post, I think acknowledging the past is healthy.
I think race is an issue for you not me, I'm proud of our President!
Freedom- What's dumb about it?
acknowledging the past is healthy; constantly using it as a tool to keep people angry and ignorant; all for votes; is divisive, un-American, and disgusting. that is basically the state of left-wing politics in America today.
Whats dumb are the things he does to take away freedom. Why should he "ponder" the sacrifices blacks made in the civil rights movement, 4 months after he signed a bill saying he can indefinitely detain American citizens without due process. He is a monster.
I guess that makes Abrham Lincoln a monster too?!
that was passed by the previous potus, old whats his name....get it right please
nomoeobama....please tell me how the President is using the past to keep people angry and ignorant. I'm not angry and I'm diffidently not ignorant. By the way. no moe obama. What's no moe all about. Talk to me.
Obama signed NDAA. I think.
Um, he was kinda in the area and decided to stop by.
Um, Rosa Parks and Black history IS American history.
LOL @ the birthers....
Obama thinks of everything. Before you know it he will be on the border in Arizona being photographed with the undocumented democrats (Mexican illegals) sneaking across the border. They can't call him a gringo!!
Nice story, actually. Took no time to get the Obama haters riled up a bit. Post a picture of the President in any setting and the so-called "Conservatives" are out in force like c0ckroaches in the night.
I don't see a story. I see a picture. And I could care less what the man is doing. How about showing him being useful to the nation? That's what I care about - and MSNBC's apparent obsession with the man is obvious with the non-sense, BS stories they post about the guy. Next story up: Obama just took a dump! It was normal!
Find a little more quality and useful information into what you're feeding the public MSNBC!!
Amen!
I too would want to sit in that bus and just ponder and I am not black! Gosh, everything is not black and white! I agree, he has and should be proud how far our country has come since Rosa Parks. But, we still have a lot further to go! The President should be celebrating his heritage and be proud without critics taking a stab! A great photograph taken by a great photographer of a great president. I cannot wait to vote for him this upcoming election. I am embarrished that I did not vote for him the first time! I made a mistake but not this next time.
What's the purpose of this at this time other than to drum up racial division in an election year? I'm sure he will say if he rode a bus, it would look like the one Rosa was in.
Watch for it.... It is very calculated. In one of his speeches he will reference this moment and tell us exactly how touching it was. It will be timed very well with the purpose of getting more people excited about voting for him.
grrr! For the 1000th time, how on earth does this picture "drum up racial division." ALL Americans, even white people, should be PROUD of Rosa Parks and show homage to that day in 1955.
The only folks who think this picture is "racially divisive" are those preconditioned to see Obama only as a "black man" and hate everything he does regardless of context.
This picture does remind me of something this potus did say. Oh, Yes, he said that the ones who do not agree with him can ride in the back seat. Or when he told those same Americans to SHUT UP! But that just went along with his remarks about the Republican AMERICANS being the "enemy". The so called "enemy", because they disagree with him? Still want to know how many of our service men and women are the so called "enemy" republicans defending and giving their lives for ALL Americans dems and repubs here in the US and on the battlefield! And imagine, this potus sending the so called "enemy" to defend this country along side of, I guess his dem soldiers. Why would you send your so called "enemy" to defend your country? Doesn't make sense to me. But yet he and his supporters wants these same, so called, "enemies" to respect him as their commander in chief. And then his supporters expect the so called "enemy" to support and respect him?? Well, I guess if he calls the repubs the enemy, than he is calling himself an enemy as well?
He has shown no respect for half of this country but yet so many groan about how he is not respected, how they are racist, how they are haters because of his color etc etc... But yet, you support his HATE and His Calling half of this same country the ENEMY!!!! But yet you want the so called "enemy" taxes to support this country? Pretty ironic. What if you were called the "enemy" by the potus?
His hateful remarks about 1/2 of the AMERICAN people in this country shows his true motive. Divided we ALL fall!
Nice one Grover, Gee just go up some posts and see where you also said this matters because he is black not white. your words. So now you say he is not only black. You can't even get your story straight. You are just as crooked as he is.
Listen I saw how he treated the black community when he went to NJ during/after the flood. Last minute he decided he better goto the black area and not "white" Little Falls. Well last minute he pops in(Paterson) and what do they do?? Well they tow all the peoples cars parked in the area, yes even on Presidential Ave. No news he was coming, no SS signs anywhere until 45 minutes before he got there. Took them 45 minutes to an hour to tow all the cars after the put up the SS signs. So these poor people not only have lost all the possesions but now due to this joker have their car towed. Never once did he come out and apologize for the extra grief he caused these (his) people. They did not show that visit or much of it to Paterson as the people, yes his people as you say were screaming and pissed. Cost over $380 to get your car out of impound and that was within an hour of being towed. They brought in so many tow trucks and towed so many cars most folks did not know for days where their car was. Quess what days later you were looking at another $150 per day. Some cars were as far as 20 miles away. Most of that community has not forgot how they were treated and picked last
He does know that bus isn't actually going anywhere...right? Think he's still sitting there waiting to be taken somewhere?
No he doesnt know its going nowhere, he thinks its a bus of progress, and he is the absolute LEAST qualified to be on THAT bus.
Well, I can hope that he didn't leave any change in that little box up at the front of the bus when he boarded.....
He's actually staring at his own reflection...damn I'm good looking!
Well considering the window is open and there is no reflection then the "reflection" would be of nothing so I guess your post would be true.
WOW, can he now PONDER how to fix the economy?
Ponder.....pander.....it's all the same with politicians during an election year.
Can't wait 'til the TV commercials go back to roofing, siding, gutters........
Maybe, with a little help from the republican's.
It would be a more poignant moment if it wasn't purposely staged for a photographer during an election season. But then we may not have the photograph or there would be other people in the photograph. In fact, I do not find this moment touching. Now, if there were a lot of people milling around and Obama was there with a faraway gaze lost in reflection (not reelection) with a tear streaming down his face, I would be touched.
This is truly a case of reelection and not reflection.
Regardless of what I think of the man or the job he's doing, I think the symbolism is astounding. What would Rosa Parks say?
Something along the lines of ,Get off my bus you marxist piece of sh!t. QFT!
Rosa would say what Maxine Waters said. Why is unemployment in the African-American community 17%? Why are you, Mr. President, telling us to be quiet and quit whining when record number of African-Americans are in poverty?
Simple: Obama will tell them that he will extend unemployment benefits from 2 years to 4 years. I personally know a few people who just sit at home because they have this benefit and they are not few and far between. He will provide free housing and health insurance. He will take care of them from cradle to grave.
I live in Massachusetts and both his aunt and uncle were involved some very shady stuff: His aunt was illegal in the US and collection benefits and free housing and she said she deserved it. You see that is the mentality of Obama's tribe. Now she has Permanent Residency. His uncle was arrested for DUI but was released and given back his license If that were anybody else I guarantee you, it will not happen.
I know something else she would say. "Look at all the hate mongering lemmings on the news vine with their pre-recorded worn out rants. It's comical. They couldn't come up with an original idea if their lives depended on it".
She would just vomit and then vomit again just like I did.
Get outta my seat !
To use Ms Parks courage as a photo op is deplorable !
I am a large , vigorous man and I would have never had the courage that fragile woman had !
Must he debase everything for his own use , the senator who only had the courage to vote present over 100 times to avoid controversy or making a decision !
its all election polotics for the vote of the blackman if they cant see it well good luck hes a crook like the rest of the poloticians he just hasnt been caught yet.
This demagogue; the most divisive President of modern times; should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Rosa Parks
What is the no moe all bout.
what exactly, other than his skin color of course, is divisive about this man?
All I see on this board are those who already hate him (for whatever reason) using this as an excuse to hate him more...
Its great that our Panderer in Chief can take time out from solving the many issues of this country for a photo-op.
I would like to know, when is he going to make good on his promises when he ran for election 2008? And if he is a man of his word, when he said"If the country isn't better off in four years, Ill be a one term President." Good-bye!!!
It is better off.
Grandma: I think you may not remember clearly how it was 3.5 years ago.
His actions and words speak for themselves. Just recently he crept into a debate on the zimmerman issue. Did he say ok Americans lets let the justice system work so we can get to the bottom of this.....NO....instead he inserted himself racially. Same goes for the class warfare that he has created in this country. This man has every ill of intention to create or stir class and race warefare. Humminbird, you know this, if not you are just as ignorant as he is. Believe me, you do not want this to get out of hand. We will all lose. But apparently you do not see this or could care less.
titian NO....instead he inserted himself racially. Same goes for the class warfare that he has created in this country
Because you view him a black man then him saying his son would look like Martin. The truth is he is half black, half white and him saying his son would like Martin is merely what he wishes his son would look like. He didn't invent class warfare it been here since the early 50's. Stick to some truth, not faux news propaganda
It is not about "inventing" it is about "exploiting." Why should there be animosity towards someone who is successful? I know because we are human beings, we prone to fallacy. However, it is another thing when a politician willfully exploit human weaknesses.
@ anony However, it is another thing when a politician willfully exploit human weaknesses. Every day I read about some right winger exploitinghuman weakness. So are you anti politicianor just anti Obama? So why should there be animosity against someone is not materialistly successful? Don't give me that tired line about you having to pay taxes to support. The taxes you pay are not going to go down and I would rather support Americans than other nations
I believe that whatever I say, you will still vote for Obama. Your instinct is probably telling you that I am white but I am not. But, maybe because I am not black I don't understand the "Wrong" that you want to "Right". I give you that. On the other hand Obama reminds me too much of what I saw in Africa. In fact, in the 1980's, Robert Mugabe came to power in Zimbabwe. If you look at what he wanted to do and what Obama campaigns on, you will see a lot of parallels in thinking. Fast forward to today, and because of the wealth redistribution in Zimbabwe, they are starving. It is sad because Zimbabwe was the bread basket of Africa. Look-up the price for a loaf of bread and you will see a failed socialist policy. Now what is happening to the debt, the way it is growing, may not affect us now but in the future we will be brought to our knees. All I am asking is that we make decisions not along partisan lines but more independent minded. In my analysis, Mitt Romney is that candidate.
Sorry Mr President. Not impressed..
Rosa Parks.. That was impressive...
Road Warrior- the purpose of this is to drive home to America how far it has come from the 1960's. It's a healing moment, for you RW person who only harbors hate in his heart sees only hate in the world, while a person who harbors love foremost in his heart sees loves love first.
rightthewrong
Well said.
NOTHING FUNNIER THAN A BRAIN-WASHED TOOL repeating idiotic talking points he cant prove. you say the "RW" only harbors hatred in their hearts; you cant prove it at all or back it up in any way. the statement by itself is all you offer as "proof" there is a word for that; ignorance.
If he harbored love in his heart, our military would be home. He would end the war on drugs so the nonviolent offenders will get out of jail. If he harbored love, he wouldn't be making whats left of the middle class tax poor to pay for out of control entitlements. This man does not harbor love.
I hear love out this man's heart every time I listen to his pastor of 20 years. If this man is so full of love, the country would be united as the independents who voted for him thought he was capable of doing. The cop acted stupidly statement was an indication of things to come, divide whenever possible.
Right....we've come along way since the 1960s.
Then we were fighting an unpopular, unnecessary war caused by a pack of lies known as the Gulf of Tonkin incident, we were fighting a war to eliminate poverty (we won, miright?), and we were spending boatloads of money racing the Soviets to the moon (Gingrich wants to revisit that, while balancing the budget). And, of course, we were engaged in a struggle to end racism in America.
After 50 years of progress, things are more like they are today then they've ever been before.
yes we can, that's the easiest task of the day. Simply read 50% (or more) of the posts by rightwingers on this board looking for any excuse, no matter how poor, to lambast this man...
I am not black nor white -- not PC, I know, but I want to simplify. Original poster: Are you looking for reparations? Is that the "Wrong" that you want to "Right". I just want to ensure this is debated because I came to the US from an African country and I've see enough of the socialist agenda and wealth redistribution to know what to expect - reference Zimbabwe.
Well there is also an African Nation this "Man of Love" helped destroy. Granted it was not perfect but Libya was the a nation that had the best in education, womens rights, health, water and GDP out of all of North Africa. Gaddafi brought that nation out of poverty. Granted he was a tyrant in his earlier days but in the current times he was much better. Obama helped set that country back decades and it may never return to where it was a few years ago. Yeah people got killed but what would Obama do if we had an uprising? Just sit back. There were and are countries in Africa much worse off than Libya, where was or is he?
I have seen pictures of Obama's love, or maybe I should say Bari Shabazz. Google Bari Shabazz

Was he eating a dog or just thinking about eating dog?
By the way, has anyone seen his Portuguese Water dog lately?
Obama will never know what it's like to be black or white. He is a token black and because of that he will never know what it would be like to be treated as non human, depised and hated for ones skin color. Sitting on a bus looking like he is going to a pity-party i suppose will buy him votes from those who think his way. As for me, I believe I saw through his image the day he ran on a pledge of HOPE & CHANGE. He is IMO a puppet that the American people bought into hook, line and sinker. Now do we really think or believe he has done anything good to bring our country and nation out of it's tailspin? Be honest with yourself now.
Ok Dalebert, I'll be completely honest with myself now: I love my President, and I cannot wait for the honor and privilege of voting for him again.
Obama 2012!
I'm glad we had this talk.
Some people never learn. No I am wrong. Blacks will just vote for Obama. Whites will vote for Obama out of a sense of remorse. That is exactly how Obama won the last time combined with the fact that Bush was such a colossal failure that even if a monkey had run on the Democratic ticket, they would have won. I remember when Obama first took office and for 6 months straight, he was on a speaking tour. I realized then that he would accomplish nothing and I was right.
Ray Butt
Ray I'd bet if your white he would love your Butt um you too.

Perhaps he should go to Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Bull Run, Petersburg or Appomattox?
No, That was the time when they wrote the constitution. He hates the constitution, it's making it hard for him to become "Fuhrer" Obama!
JJ - Awesome rebuttal! Lol
Oh come on JJ he carries a copy of the Constitution in his shoe so he can walk all over it.
The man can't even sit on a darn bus without the haters making negative comments, grow up! I'm sure he felt pride sitting where a very brave American once sat.
if the obama cult worshippers had brains; they'd realize all the people they call "haters" are just people capable of seeing obama or what he is; a phony and divisive race-card player of very little substance. but since the obama-bot worshippers are brainwashed and so ignorant they can only make idiotic accusations of "hate" against critics of obama; because they cant really defend his record; so they need to find something to de-legitimize people who realize the guy is a divisive FAILURE.
Perhaps he shouldn't be sitting on a bus then - and instead performing his duty as POTUS. I'm just sayin'.
Xaziol As an American citizen he can do do any legal thing he choses, including going to the bathroom.. For all you Obama haters a picture of him eating a veggie burger will draw peals of hate from you. Get a life.
nomoeobama .... was Bush a success?
@rightthewrong - I say the same thing - If all you have to do in a day is sit around and await the next picture of our President accomplishing little to nothing, as a voted in official that is for the people, then you obviously need a lesson in the definition of hypocrisy. I'm glad you await pictures and news tags with his name in it just so you can bow at his feet while drooling. That shows dedication, now, get a life.
@ Xaziol Gotta tell you drooling is a lot better for ones heart than hating. Shouting out hate only rots out the container not the object of the hate. Sorry your life is so dismal
@right - Obviously you don't understand the definitions of "hate" and "realism". Sorry your perceptions are skewed.
