Marijuana enthusiasts across Canada gather by the thousands every year on April 20 for an international celebration and protest for marijuana legalization. The event was planned for April 20, or 4/20, a date corresponding with a numerical code widely known within the cannabis subculture as a symbol for all things marijuana. In Boulder, Colo., a  judge upheld on April 19  the right of the University of Colorado to restrict outside visitors to its flagship campus for a day in a move school officials hope will squelch a huge marijuana smoke-in that has become an annual tradition.
