Images released by the King County Sheriff's Office in Washington show the mountain bunker of murder suspect Peter Keller. US law enforcement blew the roof off the hideout in Washington state on April 28, and inside reportedly found Keller's body. Keller is suspected of killing his wife and teenage daughter, officials said.

Keller, who had been missing since April 22, when the bodies of Lynnettee Rocha Keller and her daughter Kaylene Keller were discovered at the family home, apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Keller, 41, was named a suspect on April 25 in the murder of his wife and daughter, whose bodies were found after neighbors called the authorities when they noticed the home had been set on fire.

a 100 million gun owners didn't kill anyone yesterday.

In the year 2000, 200 persons per day are killed using guns. Guns that are apparently not owned? This is almost exactly the same number killed by Alzheimer's disease, so maybe those guns don't remember their owners.

Gun safety programs are wildly ineffective because are setup to avoid the issue of personal responsibility. It's very simple; gun owners are like Alzheimer's patents, who arguably don't want to be held responsible for forgetting that they should be held responsible for owning guns. So rather than hold gun owners accountable for reporting their fire arms stolen or missing, the gun owners prefer not to be held personally responsible for crimes committed by those stolen weapons.

So when personal responsibility is aimed at gun owners they prefer to avoid it. Reporting a lost weapon would be too much personal responsibility, and would help police to trace stolen weapon, this would classed as civic responsibility or socialism and not individual or personal responsibility.
Reporting a lost weapon would reflect badly on the gun owner, and undermine their determination that everyone has a gun, so not having any incentive to protect weapons from being stolen means that some other gimmick be used to distance the gun owners from ownership. Hence keeping and bearing arms is not going to be abridged by ownership, or by how you acquired the weapon, or any regulation at all, therefore you need a gun to protect yourself since you cannot count on personal responsibility of others to protect what is already your personal responsibility.

In essence ownership as far as gun are concerned, would abridge the right to keep and bearing arms, so guns can go about without ownership. So it generally true that "gun owners did not kill anyone", because the guns are owned, this is comparable to the idea "that guns kept in safe place did not kill anyone." We cannot predict what the Alzheimer patent remembers, because as gun owner they could claim either case true, and always avoid personal responsibility.

Sleeping weapons don't kill, stolen weapons are not the responsibility of the owners, and those weapons don't kill, so the only responsibility we have left is personal responsibility, except when we need to deny personal responsibility.

Maybe it was the bright red pickup truck that stuck out like a frigging strobe light that did him in. EVERYBODY remembered seeing it at the trailhead

And THEN the idiot has a campfire that can be smelled for miles away even by a lowly human nose. Notto mention the heat that can be detected by a cheap infrared camera And no doubt cigges too that can be smelled miles away by dogs

Lesson learned survivalists trying SO desperately to hide. NO campfires to warm you while you muse about how clever you are. Just gather around the Sterno stove for warmth instead. And of course, NO CIGGIES ALLOWED . Viet Cong ambushed many a soldier using the smell as a guide right to them

Whatever happened to the survivalist Rambo dudes who could go out in the dead of winter, naked and armed just with a 3" knife and come back with both a major babe and a million dollars?? Not to mention a full belly after killing and then eating the " enemy". Instead we get these clowns who can't even win at Paintball Except for the Real Deal Navy Seals. But hey, they work for the jack booted thugs!

Dude, you've been watching way too many guy movies. Even your real deal SEALs, Rangers, SFOD-D, as you put it, wouldn't try the bullsh-t that Hollywood throws your way. It's call knowing your limits and getting the job done despite them. It's about TEAM WORK, not who can eat the most bugs, go without sleep the longest, or any of that other crap. Hell, even your smallest sections, whom are usually snipers, work in 2 man teams, Shooter/Spotter. Don't believe all the crap you see on T.V. or read in books. It's created to separate you from your money. What you see done in the movies or video games will get you killed quick, fast and in a hurry in real life.

He failed as a survivalist. He killed himself. Too bad he didn't shoot himself first after telling his wife and kid they would be next. Was it really a bunker or a storm shelter?

If these photos show the entire bunker, it is neither elaborate, large, nor heavily fortified. Apparently, the media or the police have overstated the facts about the bunker because it appears very crude to me. Certainly, I would expect something bigger and better built if a person had worked on it for 8 years. Also, there does not appear to be any supplies in the bunker other than ammunition, so. this man could not have been preparing for the end of the world as he would have needed more than bullets for that.

One look at this dink's "bunker" and his pathetic "survival preparations" should make it clear that this was not a real "survivalist" or serious "prepper". This was just a "quirky" misfit with a hole in the ground and about enough ammo and food to last a week, max. Unfortunately, the low intellectual level of journalism majors encourages them to resort to convenient labels when they have no clue about the reality. Everyone with more than one box of ammo and a couple of MRE's thereby becomes a "survivalist". At least the Feds "exploded" the notion that he was a serious prepper...

This guy had major issues. The senseless murders where just the beginning of his true end. He started on a death march way before that. Surprised no one tried to help his sorry arse out? The bunker stuff has been on going with many on the fringe for a long while. What makes some one crack like this? Is it television?, the current political situations of the world? Why would some one want too kill then crawl in a hole in the ground?

On the surface this one seems Easy..Murderer caught, killed end of story. But a few questions come to mind.

He killed 2 people yet he never fired on those who came after him?? With all the guns and ammunition he had and several entrance/exits to his bunker you would have to think he had opportunity, yet he simply offed himself??

This does not sound like an insane man or even a wanton murderer....This sounds more like a Scared rabbit ducking into his hole.

Now this may sound a bit paranoid but the above begs the question, what if He did not kill his family and burn his home?? What if he was set up??

Sometimes you need to read between the lines, question mainstream media. Survivalists are not murders by nature, Some may talk an aggressive line but the talk is generally targeted for specific situations after the proverbial SHTF scenario.

Something does not seem right here, its all way too neatly packaged.....Who did he piss off, what did he know that someone in power feared??

We may never know the answers to these questions, but it would be nice to see someone investigate this more thoroughly to understand why he never fired a shot at authorities...

I have to echo the comments of Todd. There are 'way too many unanswered questions in this story to take it at face value. No motive is given for the murder of the wife & child. 8 years to build that pitiful hole in the ground is ridiculous. The lack of serious preparations speaks volumes. The vast over-statement by police & the media making this guy out to be some kind of a Rambo is just hyperbole to make the police look better, compounded by the usual laziness on the part of the media (& on the part of many readers who simply assume everything they read must be true).

Just for once I really wish the cops would run up against a serious survivalist. Not Randy Weaver in his plywood shack or David Koresh surrounded by women & children in a plywood compound, but someone like the Royal Teton Ranch, with concrete bunkers, overpressure systems, automatic weapons, and food & ammo to last for years. But the feds steer clear of messing with anyone like that, because they don't want a 5-year standoff. Instead they pick on the small fry.

All I keep hearing about is the bunker... The media is working overtime to make anyone with a bunker, or any amount of so called servivorreadiness as a nut like this guy. I even heard the sheriff on TV talking about how this guy worked on the bunker for 8 years. Of course it was presented in a fashion as to make it look like that alone made him a bad man.

Give me a friggin' break... It's no one's business how long he worked on this or how long he spent everyday doing anything... Building a bunker is not illegal... But don't be surprised if it becomes illegal now.

Having a bunker at all makes you someone the rest of the world would be well advised to avoid. That is, until the balloon goes up and what's left of the planet is circling the stratosphere and emitting alpha and beta particles for the next ten thousand years. Then, having a bunker saves the trouble of buying a coffin, because when the roaming zombies find it, and they will, they won't need shovels.
