Jesus Christ...God D*%n it I forgot to pray...F%&k!!! LOL
I will pray for an end to all religions and the ignorance which often adorns them.
:D
I'll remeber to pray to the FSM that your dream comes to pass in my lifetime.
We'll all rejoice at the Olive Garden when it happens.
It was a JOKE!!! You people have absolutely no sense of humor. LOL means F%$king Laugh Out Loud. Those who collapsed me...I fart in your general direction. (Monty Python)
I don't know who you are, but I will pray for you anyway!
Yeah...just as I thought...didn't take long for the haters to come out. It's really too bad...
Luke 23:34
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
Presidents usually make a proclomation on this National Day of Prayer... I have not seen Obama's, I guess I missed it.
That would be a First Amendment violation because the national Day of Pray is a Judeo-Christian activity and it would be an endorsement of religious activity. Both would be violation of the Establishment Clause. Other religions, such as Buddhists, Muslims, Pagans, Unitarians and Hindus among others, are not invited to take part in the NDoP.
Private citizens have the right to take part and it is protected but the government cannot endorse it. Government officials can take part as private citizens because that is their right but they cannot use the power of their office to endorse it or to compel someone to take part.
Obama wouldn't do anthing today, of all days, because he is not a Christian. I could almost bet he is a Muslim but I don't know for sure, but considering he is appointing Muslim brotherhood gents to high positions in this administration it's probably a safe bet to say that he is a Muslim. Haven't you wondered why we don't call Islamic terrorists, Islamic terrorists anymore? Or why the Fort Hood massacre was only labled as a 'workplace problem'? Muslims are being made to look like they are just like the rest of us.
I sure hope these people were praying for America because if Obama gets re-elected America is toast.
And Obama being an ultra Liberal, won't ever participate in any kind of day like this anyway!
@Carrie, What does being a liberal have to do with talking part in religion?
If you understood political science w you would know that Obama is not ultra liberal at all and most of his polices are to the right of Reagan, Eisenhower or Nixon. Eisenhower and Nixon supported a single payer healthcare plan, but Obama implemented Romneycare that was written by the Heritage Foundation as the 1994 alternative to Hillarycare. Mitt Romney also publicaly supported the individual mandate in 2009. Eisenhower warned about the military industrial complex but Obama hasn't made significant cuts to DoD funding that should have been made. Nixon created the EPA and got us out of Vietnam.
Obama is NOT a Muslim.
Give it a f*cking rest already!
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER, 2012
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
Prayer has always been a part of the American story, and today countless Americans rely on prayer for comfort, direction, and strength, praying not only for themselves, but for their communities, their country, and the world.
On this National Day of Prayer, we give thanks for our democracy that respects the beliefs and protects the religious freedom of all people to pray, worship, or abstain according to the dictates of their conscience. Let us pray for all the citizens of our great Nation, particularly those who are sick, mourning, or without hope, and ask God for the sustenance to meet the challenges we face as a Nation. May we embrace the responsibility we have to each other, and rely on the better angels of our nature in service to one another. Let us be humble in our convictions, and courageous in our virtue. Let us pray for those who are suffering around the world, and let us be open to opportunities to ease that suffering.
Let us also pay tribute to the men and women of our Armed Forces who have answered our country's call to serve with honor in the pursuit of peace. Our grateful Nation is humbled by the sacrifices made to protect and defend our security and freedom. Let us pray for the continued strength and safety of our service members and their families. While we pause to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending liberty, let us remember and lend our voices to the principles for which they fought -- unity, human dignity, and the pursuit of justice.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 3, 2012, as a National Day of Prayer. I invite all citizens of our Nation, as their own faith directs them, to join me in giving thanks for the many blessings we enjoy, and I call upon individuals of all faiths to pray for guidance, grace, and protection for our great Nation as we address the challenges of our time.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this first day of May, in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-sixth.
BARACK OBAMA

Sorry guys, but the President did make a proclamation.
Obama is not a Christian and he really doesn't want us to know what he is.
Against Union Thievery,
You clearly demonstrate you are not the Christian. For if so, you would know "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," (which Mr. Obama has professed and stated publically on numerous occasions) and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (which God says ONLY HE knows aour hearts and can judge this), you will be saved! Period! -Romans 10:9.
Since you have presumed to be God and JUDGE who is or isn't chrisitan based on your politics, your bias or agreement, INSTEAD of scripture, you have exposed yourself to be follower of the teaching of the Pharisees, NOT Christ! In case you don't know what a Pharisee is, you can find that in the Bible as well and read what Jesus had to say about them!
Thank you Mr. President for issuing the National Day of Prayer Proclamation on May 3. May God continue to be the only righteous Judge of you and your heart, as well as this country.
God Bless our Potus, Military and America.
@Naninmo, What religion did your secret decoder ring, or Glenn Beck tell you that B. Hussein Obama is a member of? I thought that many conservatives hated the current POTUS because he was a member of Rev' Wrights church but apparently he wasn't a member of that Christian denomination either.
Are you aware of Article VI, Clause 3 of the US Constitution?
So THAT'S why the world is in such good shape! I didn't realize that so many people were praying. I thought we just got lucky.
Nothing fails like prayer.
What fools! Don't prey for me, Argentina!
Ger, we have religious differences you and me. You think you're a god ... I don't!
I'm going to buy some new shoes
Every "day" should be a day of prayer!
And that's the beauty of America - no one is stopping you. YOU can make every day a day of prayer for yourself. Pray to your heart's content - I do. And I don't feel the need to do it in public or make anyone else do it with me - though if I do want to pray with others, I attend an appropriate event, at an appropriate venue, attended by those who share my belief system.
It's lovely living in a country where I'm allowed to do all of this - where some other religion isn't the state religion or No Religion is the state religion (as in a Communist country). I love freedom of religion!
A National Day of Prayer? How is that useful?
How about a National Day of Actually DOING Something instead?
It does do something, it gives people something to believe in. and for some people that's all they need. sorry if this offends you in any way i'm just saying this is how some cope with their lives, easy or hard. It's hope.
Well if you are looking for a day to do something, you missed MayDay, but they were mostly rioting, vandalizing, and making a general nuisance of themselves. Kind of makes you appreciate the tranquility of this activity, doesn't it...
I'm sure most of these people pictured are nice people but goddamn. Grow up!!!! Evolve!!! Move forward!!! THERE IS NO GOD!! And that goes for ANY god. Name them all and that's who I'm talking about. I don't care how much of a moderate you are, any existence of religion in any capacity hinders humanities progress in this universe. We are what matters, we are all we have, we need to come together. The HUMAN species.
The participants also seem to get a case of amnesia because their own savior instructed his followers not to prayer in public.
Mathew 6.5-6.6
"When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."
Those who support Mitt Romney don't expect him to take part because Mormons are not invited to join in the NDoP, and neither are Catholics and many other supposed Christian religions.
Quit being an ass and let those who believe in God,BELIEVE! Someone pushing their non-belief is just as bad as someone pushing their belief!
@Carrie229037, The Constitution's Free Exercise clause protects your right to belive and practice the religion of your choice but it doesn't prevent your views from being criticized. I also have the same free speech rights and you don't have the right not to be insulted by the speech of others.
When have you or anyone else ever been prohibited from exercising your religion as protected by the US Constitution?
You can't reason with something unreasonable. When you see someone talking/praying to their imaginary friend they have no logic or reason. Encourage them to go their next happy place as soon as possible.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Matthew 18:19-21 (in Context) Matthew 18 (Whole Chapter)
You are either a troll or very arrogant. Religion does not hinder human progress in the development of science, engineering, and technology; xbox does.
Jon
Religion does hinder progress in the development of science. Stem cell research is a perfect example. Trying to have creationism taught in school as science should throw up a red flag as well. While it doesn't hinder science directly to have a child's taught such lazy low IQ nonsense is a travesty. Religion is a virus, plain and simple.
I have no problem with people praying, if it brings peace and inner tranquillity all the power to them. I have a problem when it is used in a forum where it is not suppose to exist. I have no problem with a moment of silence at school. I remember years ago when I was young and they told us we could pray or think about the baseball. I do not want to block someone's ability to pray, just keep it in your head, home or church where it is supposed to be.
Happy Prayer Day... any chocolate crosses for the folded hands basket?
J I L - Is Jesus hitting the donuts again? Your handle made my day!
I spent the past 6 months planning with a diverse committee of Christians who hosted our community's National Day of Prayer events today. We had a good time! Food, music, and most importantly prayer. We prayed that our elected officials would have the wisdom to perform the duties of their offices justly, we prayed that our school teachers would provide the best education for our children, we prayed for the protection of our police, fire and EMT personnel, we prayed for the safety of our military personnel and that all conflicts would be resolved peacefully, and we thanked all our veterans for their service. It was great. I won't apologize one iota for planning and hosting this event and I will do it again :-). We love our God and are happy to honor him even in public. The event was legal, orderly, peaceful and way fun.
liberty: although I don't share your faith, I want to thank you for the sentiment behind your activities. I kinow you did this out of the goodness of your heart and an honest desire to improve things.
Mike Roberts, I thank you for yours. ☺
Oh, thehitchslap thinks he/she is so smart, that we Christians need to grow up, evolve, move forward. I don't know why he/she is so obviously mad that he/she must lash out at people praying. There is absolutely nothing that heals your soul as much as talking with my God, the God of Love. There is overwhelming peace, love and acceptance and by the Grace of God that gift is free because of the shed blood of my Jesus. I hope and PRAY that all will come to know the love and freedom of knowing Christ, as it makes life so much better! Please don't hate, it's a waste of a precious day, and all of our days are numbered, so please, chill out, sit down, and take a breath. People are praying for the healing of our Nation on the National Day of Prayer, for healing of the world, for Love to overcome Hate, and it's just one day that people come together to focus on that particular prayer. So, please, do yourself a favor and don't get so worked up about it, go out and listen to the songs of the birds, the chirps of the crickets, the smell of the garden, just inhale life and please, do everyone around you a big favor, find something to enjoy while you can. May God Richly Bless You and Your Family.
You don't know Christ, because he doesn't exist. Saying that you know him only makes you delusional, and a world full of delusion people is not good.
Go back to watching Star Trek episodes, Jim.
Well ma'am, I am a he. My name is Clay. And you are correct in one thing. I do feel the need to lash out at people praying. Especially on a national scale when we are supposed to enjoy the separation of church and state. And also I will say that we atheist's and anti-theist's should take every opportunity to point out the idiocy of the religious whenever we can. The human species has dealt with this poison for over 2000 years and it's time for change.
Now, on to your "God of love". While you may have read the bible as I have you apparently are one of the "cherry pickers" who only take the good and forget the bad. You cannot with a straight face or clear conscience really believe that the god of the bible is a "loving god" if you take it as fact and gods word. Go and read Leviticus and the book of Job for starters. The god of the bible is a selfish, arrogant child.
And to end this I will chill out, sit down and take a breath when I know that my children and my childrens' children will be able to grow up in a world where the masses don't believe in such nonsense and make laws to govern their lives based of religious ideologies.
Jon- wow, you sure got me good with that knee-slapper! I stand corrected on the whole 'God' issue, as THAT kind of wit could only be divinely inspired!
What is the point of prayer? Doesn't "god" already have a pre-determined plan for his religious followers?
If let's say Mary Smith down the street is potentially deathly ill yet she has no one to pray for her, does that mean god would just say Oh well, Mary Smith doesn't have anyone to pray for her so I'll just let her suffer and die? If so, then I don't want any part of that kind of "supreme" being as my guide.
If I'm in a bus that crashes and many people die yet I survived, should I think god was on my side and the poor souls that died weren't as worthy? Isn't it mainly me just sitting in the right seat at the right time?
And if someone has any kind of substantial answer or response, I'll be happy to see it.
Wonderful questions, thought provoking questions.
You will probably not hear any responses. They may pose another question to you as to dance around yours because they cannot answer them. Or.....they may give you their old favorite "God is mysterious". Or "you can't understand gods will".
califbabydoll, you have yourself a great weekend!!!
wow day of prayer wow so what
What about that activist in China? They better pray for him now that Clinton and Obama have sent him back. Sad.
There very well may be many that have Prayed for Chen Guangcheng. I wouldn't doubt it. I have.
After they prayed, they then continued to treat people like crap. I see it every day.
It is really sad to see the critical comments directed at those who believe in God and pray to Him. The beauty of this country is that we all have the freedom to believe or not believe in a higher power. So let people coexist in peace. Remember that this country was founded for religious freedom (as in Christian beliefs). Now it is for everyone regardless of their religious or non-religious preferences. Some Christians and non-Christians are equally to blame for intolerance to others. SO: Pray or do not pray, but do it peacefully.
Are we a civilized and intelligent society ? I think yes. We have disproved the Egyptian gods are myths, the Greek gods as myths, the Roman Gods as myths, the Aztec, Mayan, Inca Gods as myths, the purple tennis shoed koolaid drinker god as a myth. When will we stop the current madness of Jesus and God worshipping ? Unfortunately not in my life time. But the world at some point will wise up and stop this madness with these imaginary friends.
sc8man-Let people believe as they choose...stop insisting people believe your way...do you want them to only like your favorite ice cream flavor, color, foods ...etc...Leave them be...
@Whynot.
I think satan also invented logic, which explains why so many Christians refuse to use it.
My point is that future generations will look at this Tebow/Jesus fantasy the same way we look today at previous beliefs as myths. They are myths and B.S. We have proved it and our childrens children will too. @ Why-bother-us, go back to your crack pipe or bible or both.
Tell you what. I'll stop believing in my "imaginary friend" when you find your friend "the missing link". Till then, I'll stick to my fairytale, and I won't bother you about the logic of yours.
Prayer. How Christians can pat themselves on the back for doing something, without actually doing anything at all.
