Egyptian armed forces and protesters clashed in Cairo on Friday, with troops firing water cannons and tear gas at demonstrators who threw stones as they tried to march on the Defense Ministry, a flashpoint for a new cycle of violence only weeks ahead of presidential elections.

Hillary and Half&Half must be so proud of their part in causing this.
So now Obama wasn't just born in another country he's also the secret King of Egypt too?
You too are Idiots to write such hateful comments. The problems are not Mrs. Clinton or the President. The real problems are Saudi Arabia and Israel. They are controlling our law makers. That is why we do not really want democracy in none of the Arab nations. Democracy in the Arab nations mean the end of the puppet show and a lot more money for the gasoline that we are depended on. Wake up people. We are a bunch of hypocrites. People are put in fail, tortured and even killed every day in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and we do NOT even report it on the news. WE HAVE THE GREATEST DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT THAT MONEY CAN BUY.
what part, exactly, did they have in this? How come none of the haters can explain how obama could have changed anything in egypt, short of invading?
The US is already the world's biggest hypocrit when it comes to propping up dictators while preaching pseudo- freedom dribble and pointing fingers at petty tyrants while it occupies countries at gunpoint. What does the Puritan GOP Right expect to do in a country with a population the size of Egypt half a world away? The US Pentagon- State Dept. cannot control Afghanistan after 10.5 years.
Ray:
You do not speak English.
Did you get through second grade?
Can you read this?
Oh no.....gotta go into Egypt AGAIN.
Break out the drones.....just determine which ones to hit first, either the military or the Muslim Brotherhood.
In the meantime, terminate ANY and ALL Egyptian funding.
My oh my.....another quagmire for this Administration which supported "Arab Spring". Now we have another "Spring" coming to blossom ahead of the election.
how is this a "quagmire" for obama?
Yeah, you are correct. The Egyptian issue will be "delayed" until after the Presidential election.
oh, so now its an "issue" and not a quagmire? well, sure, the US has about 456,235 "issues" everywhere, to some degree.
Vietnam was a quagmire. Iraq was a quagmire. egypt is not a quagmire...contrary to your original post (which I see you are now running away from..lol).
Interventionist foreign policy is not a video game nor sporting event. There are limits to US meddling.
Any bets on when we're going to bomb, invade and occupy THAT cat litter box, anyone???????????
i'll bet "never".
Never indeed- not without a fullscale no exemption domestic draft of 18-45 year olds. Sorry Ted Nugent, Dick Cheney, and Newt, but your kids have to go invade Egypt. LOL. Not going to happen.
I got a feeling, that this is what an "Islamic Democracy" looks like. The darn mythical thing hasn't even happened, and we're seeing the way they would act.
Really? Is US democracy represented by the US civil war which killed 600,000 in 4 years? Please explain. East Coast Americans lived under the rule of the British Monarchy for nearly 200 years Einstein.
The people of the US SUPPORT the PEOPLE of Egypt !!!!!!!
Not when the people of Egypt are asking for an Islamic government. Iran is probably going to take advantage of this.
doubtful that it will amount to much. egypt is sunni, iran is shia. relations have improved in the past few months, but that was against a base of complete non relations.
De ja' vu' all over again! The minute the military became involved within the affairs of Egyptian democracy-making, there was a vote of "no confidence" registered in my mind! At this point I believe that the common masses have lost control of the revolution, and it will take more bloodshed to return back to square one, if that is at all possible, at this late date!??
It took Americans 190 years to finally throw off the British Monarchy. Why do you expect the Egyptians to push out military fascism in 2 years?
the military have been the true "power behind the throne" for many years (actually, pretty much obviously the power, not even really hidden). In some sense (for america) this is good because they are acting as the counterbalance to the muslim brotherhood, who was the group positioned to take advantage beyond their real support in the current chaos.
Which isn't to say the MB is the worst group around (contrary to all the folks who think they are the same as, say, al quada), but lets hope the military can provide some stability as egypt makes it own way..although its still more likely they will hold onto power).
