Fans arrive at Qualcomm Stadium to participate in a "Celebration of Life" memorial on Friday night.

AP reports: Hours after Junior Seau was buried in his hometown, thousands of fans attended a public memorial service at Qualcomm Stadium, where the hard-hitting, fist-pumping linebacker starred for 13 seasons.

Many wore Seau's No. 55 jersey - in Chargers blue, Southern California cardinal and gold and Miami Dolphins aqua and orange.

Among those attending were Seau's parents, his ex-wife and their children, several current and former Chargers, and former rival John Elway. Elway, who now runs Denver's front office, was accompanied by new Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and coach John Fox, a former assistant with San Diego.

I feel sorry for his family and for everyone he let down by checking himself out of life, thought he was stronger then that.

I don't know what to say Philip, except you don't know anything about what was happening with him so you should STFU.

Have a little respect and compassion.

@ Pasadenapete; He took his own life like a coward, that's all I need to know. Respect and Compassion.....just like he gave his family by killing himself right?

It is hard to leave the game after you have been preparing and playing for 30 years. After you no longer can play, there is a huge void. You miss the games and the roaring stadiums. You even miss the workouts and practice. My guess is Seau is one them athletes who made millions and spent every dime. So you are broke and can't do what you have done for 30 years. Depression sets in. Suicide follows.

Time to contemplate, fans, whether you still want to support a violent sport like American football.

I just gave it one minute of thought. Yeah, let’s keep it. It’s a great game.

Saw the tribute, here in San Diego. Don't know if the brain was left to be left to science. hope it was. Love football, but wonder what it dose to the players.

Not necessary to show pictures of the burial. That's too hard to look at. You could have shown more respect than that. We didn't need to see.

What a strong daughter, comforting her brothers, hope her family is proud of her.

This is CRAZY!!! Even for the number of "fans" we have here in this country. We have soldiers putting their lives in danger or giving their lives EVERY DAY, and when they come home in boxes they get a tiny blurb in their local paper. WTF america? This is an ex-professional athlete who took his own life. Tragic, yes.

More tragic or newsworthy than the hundreds, even thousands of other deaths that occur each day? NO.

                I'm sad for our culture.

A Friend- I really do understand what your on saying so please do not take this as a bashing. I thank God for every soldier who has chosen to fight for our country, for us. They know they are going out the with a possibility of dying. Even though very tragic for the families who lost their loved ones, we are not surprised when it does happens. This is sadly an everyday event now so it's no longer news worthy for the newspaper. It is a sad part of our culture. Junior Seau's death is different than a soldiers because it was unexpected.

A Friend makes an excellent point! Why are we so backwards when it comes to who we idolize?

I agree with a friend. He took the easy way out, He could have gotten help, Left his kids , family no respect here. Soldiers give their live or return home all messed up in every way and get on the last page of the news paper.
