KING5-TV reports: It promises to be one of the most spectacular art displays Seattle has ever seen. The 12,000-square-foot gallery includes a café housing Dale Chihuly's own quirky collections of accordions and vintage radios. Outdoor works include the "Icicle Tower" and "Sun," along with plants and trees that create a luminous living landscape that will grow on the grounds of the old Fun Forest.
"This is going to change, not just by day and night, but over the next 15-20 years," said Executive Director Michelle Bufano.

He also did the Fireworks of Glass at the Indianapolis Children's museum. Beautiful work!!
This man is an artist beyond compare. To visit an exhibition of his work is on my bucket list. There is a documentary on his life and work that airs from time to time on PBS...it's well worth viewing.
With the exception of the Glasshouse part in the pictures, the rest is just like his museum in St Petersburg, FL. If he wants to attract people to come and see his museums, then they need to be different.
Wow! I first saw his work at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. I was quite surprised to find a large Chihuly "Chili" chandelier at the Spenser Theater in Ruidoso, New Mexico. I would love to see that "Persian Ceiling"; the MSNBC photograph of it is simply beautiful.
I've seen his work exhibited twice at Fairchild Tropical Garden in Miami FL. It was fantastical, magical, truly art in its finest in the tropical setting. If you ever have the opportunity to see his work, seize it!
We have a lot of the same in OKCity....beautiful...the OKCity people took a tour to Dallas this week to the Arboretum where he has another exhibit.....looks like he is everywhere...
That doesn't look of this earth!
Chihuly had a long running exhibit @ the Desert Botanical Garden here in Phoenix in 2009 if I recall right. It was fascinating. The garden would offer special photography tours at night of the works lit up. If I also recall correctly, this was the first and only Desert Botanical Garden installation ever for Dale.
He is a modern day master. No other glass artist could capture the essence of each drop of glass and form it to the shapes. His Sea Forms and flowers are some of my favs
Saw Chihuly's exhibit here in St. Louis at the Missouri Botanical Garden a few years back. There are still a few of his pieces remaining - a splendid blue and white "chandelier" that hangs above the admitting desk and yellow "flames" around the gates in the Lehmann garden. His work is so organic that it looks like it belongs in a garden setting. He had a red "chandelier" hanging beneath the Japanese bridge in the Japanese garden that, in winter, with snow all around, was an absolute delight to see.
If you want to see a reasonable facsimile of his "Persian Garden", he has one installed in the hotel lobby at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Love his work!!!
I cannot wait to see it!
That looks absolutely amazing. I would love to learn how to create that.
I LOVE Chihuly's work (his glass objects are conceived by him, but executed with the help of a team under his watchful eye) and had the enjoyment of seeing his Venice, Italy installation some years ago. Wish he'd come to Boston! Glass has to be one of the most magical mediums ever.
I'd give my eye-teeth to go see this. His work is like no other. What a great artist in a class of his own.
Beautiful....would love to see.
Truly Gifted, it just makes me smile.
