Israel okays funding to block African migrants
Police said 20 people were arrested for assault and vandalism. Trash cans were set alight, storefront windows were broken and a crowd attacked an African driving through the area, breaking his car's windows. No serious injuries were reported.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Wednesday's violence, saying there was no room for such action and that the issue must be resolved "responsibly".

I've said it before and I will say it again. A small majority of Israeli's, as evidenced by their treatment of the Palestinians and other Middle East neighbors and immigrants, have become the one thing they despise most-The New Nazis!!

If the migrants commit crimes, they should be dealt with via the law... not a mob. This is not the way people should behave.

This seems very similiar to our Mexico Border problems we are experiencing here in the United States. Everybody wants people to stay where they are and fix their Home Country problems instead of attempting to make changes at the New Lands they seek. If the New Lands have immigrant restrictions, rules, laws and ordinances, outsiders should respect this and comply.

It's interesting to see condemnation of the Israelis treatment of these Africans while turning a blind eye towards the reason for this treatment which is the crime and squalor they instigate. These Africans come to Israel yet continue to behave as if they're still in their crap hole countries.
It's too bad the illegal African immigrants "countries of origin" didn't even try (or care enough) to take care of their own people!

Hmmm...not too much info here on the Africans' behavior that's sparking such public outrage. I suspect Reuters is sandbagging most of that info because that's not the way they want to spin the story. However, looking at some of the pictures provides likely insights into some of the problems---e.g., they're unemployable and starting to suck up taxpayer-driven government benefits as well the Africans' apparent predisposition towards violent behavior.
At least Israel's politicians actually care more about their citizens than importing easily-bought voters. They are working to stop the problem while in America we have Obama and the Democrats luring in criminals with taxpayer funded handouts.

Just the Media Elite for you, they are creating these articles to hype up racial division that do not exist to try to instigate violence to create an even better article. The Africans in Isreal on average are treated way better than those in nearby Yeman, Saudi Arabia, UEA, Qatar, and Jordan. In fact many Africans in Isreal are espacting the brutality in Eritrea and Sudan because they are treated SO MUCH better in Isreal than by their "fellow" Africans.
Turning the country they entered illegally into the same "garbage pit" as from where they came from and committing crimes against the residents there will only get them jailed and/or expelled. Too bad they can't enter other countries legally on work permit vesas and learn to act like civilized people!

@Mike C. The media would have you believe... It stands to reason that Israel "allowed" them willingly in because they are refugees... If not they (most likely) would have been deported or worse.... on another note: (ref the article) How does a refugee afford satellite? Government assistance? or is he working? In fact, Israel seems like the victim here, but in fact, they're occupying somebody else's land anyway. They decided that they want to own Palistine, and traded various favors over the years to get the world to community to support them -- first Britain, through the Balfour Treaty; and then the UN; and then the US (because we thought we were "supporting democracy in the Middle East" -- sound familiar?). Now they continue to put restrictions on the lives of Palistinians, while squeezing them onto smaller and smaller plots of land.
Africans drive up crime rates wherever they go. It's just a fact that traces back to the culture of the place where they come from, where tribalism reduces individual responsibility, and creates racism among people who are supposedly of the same race. But I don't really have any pitty for the Jews of Israel.

Lucas, lots of places around the world have a "place of the Jews." This name generally refers to the ghetto where the Jews were walled in, and locked up at night -- as they were in Paris, and Rome, into the 19th century. Place names don't establish land ownership.
What the Jews are doing to the Palistinians amounts to modern day genocide, by forcing them onto smaller and smaller amounts of land, and depriving them of any source of income.
This is slightly different from what happened in America, where hunter-gatherers were slaughtered (as they were in just about all countries of the world, which is why there are so few of them left), and later put on reservations. The alternative was to let these primative tribes keep control of all the land, while more advanced societies have to control their growth. Primative tribes need an enormous amount of land (per capita) to survive. And tribes are in a state of constant war with all other tribes; tribalism is the most ultimate form of racism, where they consider only themselves to be truly human. It makes nice fairy tales to imagine a world ruled by primative people, but in reality, there is no way that man will confine itself to this sort of existence.

Israel is home to several Christian denominations, as well as to Muslims and Bahaiis. What you are claiming in the last sentence of post #10.7 above has no merit at all!
It really irks me that the vast majority of posters here have really no idea of what they are talking about in terms of what is going on here in Israel or about Africa. It is no secret that Americans themselves are racist and ill-informed. I live here in Israel and I can tell you that this article is not giving you any (factual) background information whatsoever. This part of south Tel Aviv has historically always been economically depressed and rife with crime, rape, drugs and prostitution decades before the Africans ever arrived. Those of you that don't already know, Israel is complicit in the refugee problem as they are the biggest arms dealers to Africa and yes, even to Sudan. There is a war going on in Eritrea and Sudan and people are fleeing for their lives so that means that yes, people may have to enter other countries "illegally". As Israel has signed a UN bill that recognizes the human rights of refugees but refuses to adhere to it. The reason that there is petty crime (there has been only 1 actual confirmed case of rape, not the "wave" that some of these know nothing posters have been parroting). Statistics have shown that there has been NO increase in crime since the arrival of Africans and has in fact gone down per capita. Furthermore, there are no "government handouts or benefits" as these same posters have chosen to falsely declare. There are no benefits for non-Jewish people that come into this country, whether legal or illegal. The Africans are not allowed to work hence there is petty theft and a lot of homelessness and the only place that these men can sleep in is in the park. It is a very abysmal situation and it doesn't help that all the levels of government from Netanyahu to Ben Ari and right down are inciting even more racism and violence. Many of you don't know that this country is in fact a theocracy, not a democracy. Those of you that have fooled yourselves into thinking that there is freedom and equality for all - Arabs, Christians, Muslims, non-Jews/Goyim, or any other racial group than white - are sadly mistaken. This is a very, very racist country against anyone that is not white or Jewish. The real problem is that the government refuses to create a policy to even recognize and process refugee claimants. In the 60 year history of this country, less than 200 people have been granted refugee status (and a work permit). Israel accepts less than 2% of the world's refugees. How many Israelis are living and working in Canada and the US illegally? Also, the government has chosen to ignore this impoverished part of Tel Aviv, allowing it to fall into a state of further disrepair and squalor as it has always been inhabited by the Mizrachi (Jews descended from the Jewish communities of the Middle East, North Africa and the Caucasus). This group of Jews tend to be more marginalized in Israeli society mainly because of the darker skins to their Ashkenazi/European counterparts. This issue is a lot more complex and uglier than this article is depicting; dig deeper if you want to know what is really taking place here.
It's shameful that someone who lives in Israel considers only their own one-sided political agenda and does not espouse a more balanced view of the reasons that the majority of Israeli's want Israel to remain Jewish. There is no ethnic/religious group in history that has been as close to annihilation so many times as the Jewish people. Consider the size of Israel and how easy it would be to convert it to a non-Jewish majority. The problem is that you've become too comfortable living in a democratic and free country. If you don't like it, move to any of the neighboring Arab countries that don't tolerate any religion other than Islam.
Per the Article, the refugees are from Sudan and Eritrea where there is REAL "Anti-African" violence. The Africans themselves in the Sudan (heard in news on Sudan & South Sudan issue lately) and Eritrea (a human rights nightmare) are by far the MOST "Anti-African" as the way they treat their OWN Citizens. That is WHY the flee to the much more humane country of Isreal.

Looks like Occupy Wall-street When the Police had to "forcibly" remove them because of criminal behavior. If only MSNBC reported what is really going on in the Sudan and Eritrea now, they would have a clue why so many Africans flee to the much more humane nearby country of Isreal. The issue is not Isreal in this article, the real issue is the violence against basic human rights in the Sudan and Eritrea where they are fleeing from in the first place.
@Kurt Yep.. I've been humbled...(that is not easy) sometimes I get on and start my "crusade" (in reference to another article on MSNBC) that I forget the real problems facing the US and the world... Not wanting to detract from the article or thread but This is one of the things that Bush does not get credit for. Under him more aid, assistance and support was given to Africa than at any time In US history... This President has all but turned his back on Africa and Israel... (Obama sent "armed advisers" President Bush sent aid.... ) I don't want to politicize it and as you pointed out... This was going on for the last 15 to 20 years... it has just increased to something so horrible that even the most hardy of politicians don't want to talk about. It sadden me to think how Prince William got a award for standing up to the wanton killing of elephants in the region and not a word on what he is doing for the People of Africa.... mmmm even I sometime could use the gut check.

You forgot to say that the rabbis in Israel wanted to Convert them to judaism even they were already jews. However, the russian "jews" (most of them were not) did not have to be converted.
I guess it is the skin color. Judaism did not start in Europe but in the middle east. I am a sephardic jew and I get discrimimated all the time.
Facts are that the Rabbis in Israel are encouraging the Ethiopian Jews to convert to Modern Judism only because the Ethiopians were practicing a pre-Talmudic form of Judism which has customs which are not compatible to Modern Judism.This has absolutely nothing to do with their skin color. The Jews who immigrated from Russia are also being encouraged to become more observant (i.e. to not eat food containing pork which some of them had been doing to celebrate certain secular holidays back in the former Soviet Union).
Don't misunderstand my concern. I'm not up for your primitive religious bickering or the desire to have a homogenous society. The only reason the Ethiopians are in Israel is partly to the Jews state looking to increase their population. This is also why they developed advertisements and campaign to have American Jews move to Israel. My point is the way a nation treats it refugee population. Calling them illigal is not doing justic to humanity. Their is no civility, not a speck of it. Supposed that the many Jews who fled Germany around the world were considered infiltrators? A little history lesson goes along way my dear earthling. Don't give anyone the impression that Iowa is a good place to live or you could end up with a bunch of refugees. I live in Arkansas and it is truly terrible here. No jobs, bad water, disease is rampant, no social services whatsoever, brutal police, awful hot and dry weather except when it floods, lousy schools, no hospitals, lots of violent crime, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, polluted rivers, air pollution, noise pollution, everything is expensive if you can even find it in a store, we have race riots, gay-bashing, oppression of women, the woods are full of ticks, skunks, bears, and mountain lions, and the malaria-carrying mosquitos will eat you alive unless it is winter when everything is covered in a thick layer of ice, the women are ugly, the men smell bad, and the people here are just MEAN!

This alone could be the demise of Israel I hope they have the strenght to fix this. It's up to them it's there problem. We have the same like problems. The world isn't perfect once you put in the human factor. You have good and bad people everywhere. I pray for the victims and the crimals will be brought to justice.
There was a Jew named Jesus who was accused of a crime and the Atorthities at that time din't want to deal with it. When Jesus was put before Punchis Pilot he didn't want to do anything. So he put Jesus and a thief before the crowd who were mostly all Jews and ask the crowd who should be let go and who should be persacuted. The people said let the thief go and persacute Jesus. Pilot said so be it and washed his hands of it. He didn't decide, the crowd did. Jesus died. The blood was not on Pilots hands and he knew it.
We must be very careful with these crowds. Anger and hatred breeds in them. Be very very careful what you ask for. Seek Justice and find common ground with each other. Live a peaceful, honest, humble life. Respect those next to you. Pray for forgiveness as we all are sinners one way or the other. For the victims pray for them. Ask that their suffering be healed and for Gods blessings. Keep the Love of God in your heart and in your soul. Cast away any hatred and never fear anything evil. Ask for forgiveness. Fear what will happen to you for internity after you die should you fail and fall against god's will.

History does not support what you are saying.There is no historical evidence to indicate that the Romans ever allowed people under control of their empire to gather in a crowd and decide who was to be crucified or turned free.The Jewish community was preparing for the Passover celebration and there would not have been a "crowd" at the pagan Roman authority's castle due to that fact. Pilot was a pagan, not and Jew and the "washing of hands" was not a pagan custom. The punishment to be crucified was carried out and decided by the Roman authorities only, not by the Jews, and was done for political reasons exclusively.In the case of the Rabbi Jesus, his followers publicly stated that he was "king of the Jews", which the Roman authorities saw as a challenge to the supreme and absolute authority of the Emperor and his representatives (Pilot and Tiberius) over the subjects within their controlled empire.

You are absolutely right, Cassandra. I was just trying to present some historical facts to counter some of the disinformation being posted here which had resulted in much unnecessary bloodshed for the last 2000 years.
This will be interesting to see how it shakes out between the Israelies and the flood of black Africans. As their crime rate goes through the roof and the social safety net is strained beyond it's capacity, as is happening in America, I wonder if there will be a stream of Guess Who's Coming To Dinner movies from Hollywood. My guess is that there will be no such outcries for Israel to end it's apartheid and they will preserve their identity, and keep the cameras and microphones away from the diversity ramrodders. Maybe we could send the MSNBC talking heads, Ed, Rachael, Lawrence , Mathews etc to Israel and convince them not to believe their own eyes, but to listen to the crap they are always feeding us.
