The European Championship got started today in Warsaw with opening ceremonies and a first match with host country Poland competing against Greece.

I hate soccer..but then again born and raised in the USA ( baseball is my only sport).

Good hand, eye coordination does not make you an athlete. Baseball is hard, but so is bowling. Baseball is not a sport, just like NASCAR is not a sport.

Mike - Maybe in the USA. Some of the European soccer salaries make $25m look like chump change.

Sad to see the Czechs loose so badly to the Russians, though I'm glad Arshavin is finally finding is worth again. Poland and Greece each having a man sent off and ending 1-1 isn't exactly a great start to this competition. Come on England - let's get cracking!!

Because they're fired up on liquid courage and general stupidity, m-612920. They also need a mudhole stomping as wide as the Pacific Ocean and as deep as the Marinara Trench if common sense, civility, manners, and maturity will not make the point first.
No game like football (soccer). Cannot stand baseball or American football - these cannot be compared to soccer since they do not generate worldwide interest, they are local to the country and I have never understood why they call their championships the World Series when all they do is play club matches. I am glad soccer is gaining popularity in the US and hope someday most Americans will quit watching baseball and American football. This is bound to happen since more and more kids are trending towards soccer. Soccer is athletic, fun to watch, artful and majestic. Baseball and American football players are not athletic - they are huge because they are pumped with growth hormones. Lastly why is Americfan Football called football when the ball is held in the hand most of the time and kicked for a fraction of a second if at all. Sorry guys I had to show my disgust for Baseball and American Football - had to get this off my chest. One more thing - I think Cricket is far better than Baseball. In cricket you bowl which needs a lot more skill than pitching in baseball which is basically a throw.

I like soccer/European-styled football and rugby but I don't act like a pompous, arrogant, prideful jerk and talk smack about the sports that YOU like, now do I, miss? Seriously, if I went to such a game overseas and some fights broke out, I assure you that the people that did that would NEVER do that again to me or to ANYONE else. People like me will not tolerate hooligans because in my book, if you're drunk, you plan on hurting people, and you especially plan on hurting them and/or me for no reason, then you are in for a rather rude awakening. Has his mind play some themes from Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and the Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle games, most notably the "Attack of the Barbarian" theme from Streets of Rage 1/Bare Knuckle 1. See many people that thought that they could hurt people at random on liquid courage and stupidity and goes after those bullies and begins to render them into unconsciousness.
