'Russia will be free': Thousands march against Putin in Moscow

Reuters reports — Thousands of Russians chanted "Russia will be free" in a march through Moscow on Tuesday to protest against President Vladimir Putin, shrugging off his tough new tactics intended to quash any challenge to his rule.

Some of these leaders have been in power for decades - think about how much worse it would have been with Blank Stare Bush and Darth Cheney in power forever.

We may not be perfect but we at least have the ability to change.

Why vote in America...good question...not for the reason given...but because it doesn't make any difference who gets elected from the dem and repub parties...they both have their strings pulled by the same well endowed entities...America is run by the rich for the rich and the rest of us are just sitting on the sidelines waiting for scraps to fall off the table. We had one president who didn't belong to a political party because he said the parties would put their interests above the interests of the people...pretty smart guy this Washington fellow. It's perhaps time we Americans took to the streets like our Russian friends...we can learn something from them and get more of our democracy back...wake up we live in a police state too.

I stand with Jimmy. I'm not a birther but I know how to read a birth certificate. On it you will find that his dad is a Kenyan citizen. The constitution requires that the office of president is occupied by a Natural Born Citizen. The definition for a Natural born citizen is "Both Parent born in the USA and born on the mainland". While there is a lot to dispute that BO was born somewhere other than the mainland, I will not dispute it, here. However there is proof positive that BO is Not natural born since senior BO is NOT a citizen. This is proof enough that BO is usurping the presidency of the united states and must not be allowed to run a second term.

      The definition for a natural born citizen is as follows:

      "There are two different ways in which a natural born citizen can be created. By American law, all people born on American soil are considered natural born citizens.       Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.       All person's BORN in the United States ARE United States Citizens. It doesn't matter if both of Obama's parents were Kenyan. He was born in Hawaii, making him just as American as Bobby Jindal.

      Secondly, IF he had been born abroad, his mother was an American and passes citizenship onto her offspring. Children of an American have until their 18th birthday to claim their citizenship and are not considered Naturalized.

      My friend Stephen is "french" but an American Citizenship. His father was American, he was born in France to a French mother but at the age of 16, he went to the Embassy and claimed his citizenship. No immigration, no naturalization. Same with my friend's two young sons. They were born in Paris, but when she came home to the US, only her husband had to apply for a Visa. She only had to go to the Embassy and get SSNs and Passports for her sons because they are American's by birth.

      Actually SpyderGirl, I'm as right as you are (or rather Congress is right). There is a difference between citizen (citizenship can be acquired) and natural born citizen. To be "natural born", you have to be either 1) born in the US (which president Obama is, making the citizenship of his parents irrelevant), or 2) be born of at least one US citizen (which president Obama also is).

      Harold, if voting fraud is a fact, then where are all the court cases to prove it? You would think that those who scream voter fraud would be prosecuting hundres (or thousands) of people that are committing this "voter fraud" if it was really happening.....if for no other reason that to prove thier point.

      Throughout all America there have only been a small handfull (20 or so) in the last 20 years. So Micky Mouse is a registered voter......it is not illegal until someone votes under that name.

      Do the math we have some 200 million registered voters in America. Assuming ALL illegals are registred to vote and ACTUALLY vote, that would be about 6% of the voter population. Assuming even distribution among all 50 states there would be 240,000 illegals per state that are tiping the rolls. Were are the thousands upon thousands of court cases to back up such claims.

            I believe that the people don't rise up because the politicians use a bait and switch tactics. They keep us focused on the two parties with ads, talk radio, Fox TV or the Internet, while behind the scene they keep doing their usual crap with no one noticing.             In practical terms, people don't revolt until they're miserable. Yeah, unemployment is high, but most people aren't miserable. I'm not saying the government is all wonderful, but as long as people still have their DSL, their iPhones, and their ATT&T U-Verse, there's not going to be much interest in fomenting open revolt.

            Even when Bush was president (worst president ever by most objective measures), I was still pretty comfortable. I complained about Bush, sure, but I wasn't about to take up weapons. I was too busy catching up on old episodes of Six Feet Under.

            Now when government thugs start barging into your house and breaking your fingers to keep you from blogging negative comments about state representatives, that's when you might start to see open revolt. However, I don't think we're in any danger of that any time soon. I know it's a big Tea Party fantasy, but it just ain't gonna happen, folks. If it ever does, well...I hear Canada is nice.

            I'm truly amazed how much people drag the Koch brothers into this. The PEOPLE voted to have Walker remain Governor. Evidently they WANT change. Unions were sucking the money out of the state. What is even more amusing is Walker campaigned to end the collective bargaining rights.

            Why don't you waste your time digging up just exactly how those signatures were obtained to have a recall in the first place? A 60-40 win....those signatures sure sounding like fraud to me.

            Wisconsin didn't prove anything. Many liberals who support unions in the private sector don't for public sector jobs. Allowing someone to spend public money to win votes is never a good idea. Most public servants are fairly paid but a lot are allowed pensions and benefits way beyond anything in the private sector.

                                  LOL Read and comprehend the FACTs! It Was Bill Clinton that repealed Glass Stegall, not BUSH. It was Treasury Secretary Larry Summers who pushed it and defended de-regulating derivatives because they "would make the markets safer and and stabler".

                                  So why has obamnomics failed? Because his Chief Advisers are Larry Summers and Franklin Raines, the former CEO of Fannie Mae. You just can't fix stupid.

                                  ProudAmericanVeteran- that's a joke! The repealled of the Glass-Steagall was signed by Clinton but the authors were all republicans. Look at the name of the bill that made the repealled possible..it's called the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act...sponsored by 3 GOP members. Phil Gramm was the lead advocate. He was the one that was responsible for the Commodity Modernization Act of 2000 that made CDO (credit swaps) and deriviatives possible and we know it was the one of the main reason beside W Bush's Dream Act that created the housing crisis.

                                  Get your facts straight! The Wall Street bailout is not the first time, we had another one called the Savings and Loan bailout under Reagan! We had 12 years Reaganomics and we tried it again under W Bush. Trickle Down Economics only works in theory..if it did...where are all the jobs after repeated tax cuts for the rich...all we got under W Bush was the worst job creation on history since the Great Depression..which BTW occured under another republican..Herbert Hoover.

                                  I stand with Jimmy. I'm not a birther but I know how to read a birth certificate. On it you will find that his dad is a Kenyan citizen. The constitution requires that the office of president is occupied by a Natural Born Citizen. The definition for a Natural born citizen is "Both Parent born in the USA and born on the mainland". While there is a lot to dispute that BO was born somewhere other than the mainland, I will not dispute it, here. However there is proof positive that BO is Not natural born since senior BO is NOT a citizen. This is proof enough that BO is usurping the presidency of the united states and must not be allowed to run a second term.

                                          I do not like nor have I ever liked Putin. I think he is a power hungry narcissistic controlling and very very very untrustworthy little man. He was to be tolerated while Russia made the transition from communism but does not need to be tolerated any longer. He is all about himself and little about his country. He is part of the reason Russia is struggling and I do think he needs to go. I hope the people of Russia continue the protests- they deserve so much better than this petty little man.

And so true: Our Founding Fathers saw that allowing THAT much freedom would also open the door to individual greed, which has now taken over in both business and politics. So there's no point in working for the betterment of all as well as ourselves, and the future of our nation no longer seems to matter -- Hey, that'll be someone else's problem, I want all I can get NOW! Ben Franklin also said something to the effect that if we don't hang together, we will surely hang separately. If only! in the case of our deeply venal governing and business institutions.

                                                    Citizens of Russia....Unless you are willing to go underground, arm yourselves, fight for many years, etc. you dont have a chance at anything better. If you protest too much, you will become an enemy of the state, lose your job, disappear and eventually turn up dead after being sent to Siberia where they will treat you worse than an animal and freeze and starve you. That is the 100yr history of Russia. Millions have suffered that fate...and yet so many of our citizens have no appreciation for freedom and democracy in the US. Gorbachev and Yeltzin were the exceptions, but we blew our chance for real change in Russia. After those two, the old party people got their strangle hold on their country again....

                                                        This is a HUGE story and should be getting a lot more news coverage than I currently see. These people are risking everything to try to bring personal freedom to Russia. Putin is a classic Stalinist holdover, and they don't want him taking them back into the cruel, coldly impersonal Communist system. Their courage and actions are especially significant given the history of Russians as a subjugated people. Now, please don't reply with all that stuff about how WE don't have true freedom, either, yada yada yada. It's all about people, in all their marvelous and, yes, sometimes unfortunate diversity. We're not perfect, these people in Russia aren't perfect. But they're TRYING, and again, at great personal risk to themselves. I celebrate that, and so should you.

Thanks goodness the people are keeping their strength to oust him peacefully for Russia and Her people to be free). putin is one of the biggest political fraud; he has had eight years( when mysterous inhumane issues not only in Russia, but all around the Globe happened). he is a very bad person even in appearance alone, but the main issue is, it is illiberal and undemocratic for one person to hold the most scarce public office for more than two terms(however best your services and leadership is superb).
