Italy's Palazzo Lombardia named the Best Tall Building Europe

Reuters reports: Italy's 40-story Palazzo Lombardia in Milan, shown in this undated photograph, was named the Best Tall Building Europe by the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) on  June 13, 2012. The four regional winners include the Absolute Towers in Mississauga, Canada (Americas); 1 Bligh Street, Sydney (Asia and Australia); Palazzo Lombardia, Milan (Europe); and Doha Tower, Doha (Middle East and Africa).

The Chicago based CTBUH, a group of architects and structural engineers that monitors tall building projects around the world, said there has been a "renaissance" in skyscraper development. A record 88 towers taller than 200 meters were completed in 2011 - compared to 32 such projects in 2005.
