AP reports: An installation of 857 empty school desks, representing the number of students nationwide who are dropping out every hour of every school day, is on display at the National Mall on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Washington, DC. The installation was presented by not-for-profit organization College Board to call upon presidential candidates who are running for the White House to make education a more prominent issue in the 2012 campaigns and put the nation's schools back on track.

This is a national and political crime. Our illustrious leaders should be working hard to keep students IN school instead of quibbling about teacher salaries.
that speaks volumes
How are we creating a strong foundation for our youth to build upon if the very institution that should be nurturing the future of this nation is being compromised by government officials cutting public schooling budgets?! Cutting programs such as fine arts, theater, music, after school programs and even basic classes like Physical Ed, Home Ec., as well as recess!!? Without these programs how are we providing a space for our youth to experiment, to create, to innovate, to grow? And not only are we limiting the youth but we are putting more stresses on their teachers. We should be doing everything we can to support our teachers in order for them to exceed excellence in developing our youth.
I know there are billion issues to discuss during this year's presidential campaign but there is a need to refocus on the Education System. Because if we trace all these issues to the route cause...we find that it all resides in the foundation of our education.
