'Pig whisperer' Kees Scheepens hypnotizes a piglet in Duelmen, western Germany, in a picture taken on June 22, 2012 and made available today.
"Let pigs be pigs", Scheepens advised representatives of the hog industry during a visit to Canada in 2010 in which he advocated a less intensive form of pig-rearing.

Those who eat the flesh of animals will never know Nirvana.
Happy Hamhocks are good hamhocks. Every organism on this planet is designed to feed upon other organisms. As an OMNIvore, I'm DESIGNED to eat meat, fish, vegetables and grain. Raising the animals I am designed to eat is proper, and as long as we take great care, like the pig whisperer, to ensure that the time that the pig has alive is filled with a good, and even pleasurable experience for the pig - along with as quick and painless of a death as humanly possible, then I think we have done our job as top predator.
Don't beat me up with your religion, when the nature of the teeth that grow naturally in my mouth tells me otherwise (e.g. I'm NOT a herbivore). Yes, like a Panda Bear, and Koala Bear I can become a vegetarian... but I would then, like them, have to eat my mommy's poo to do so.
I'll stick with nature.
Yes, this is always a tough subject for me.
I'm a HUGE animal lover (moreso than people sometimes), but I'm also a big meat eater ... it's pretty much my favorite food.
Evolutionary speaking, we never would have gotten this far had we not eaten a highly-enriched protein diet of meats. I still cringe, however, whenever I see the cruelty of how some animals are processed. Unfortunately, some people are just complete nutjobs and get off on torturing helpless creatures in meat-processing plants.
