Floodwaters engulf a river at Kumamoto city on Japan's southern island of Kyushu on July 12, 2012.
Arata Yamamoto of NBC News reports — An unprecedented 20 inches of rain descended on the town of Aso in southwestern Japan, inundating homes and rice paddies and killing at least 6 people. 20 people are still reportedly missing.
Images on local news reports showed cars being dragged into the raging rivers and houses destroyed by landslides. But by around noon time the rain had stopped, allowing for the clean up efforts to kick in.
The local fire department in Aso District said they had managed to rescue 8 people trapped in mudslides.
Floodwaters have turned part of western Japan into a disaster zone after nearly 2 feet of rain fell in just 8 hours. At least three people have been killed and an evacuation order has been given to 50,000 people. Karl Bostic of NBC News reports.

Nothing like good old Mother Nature to remind us day after day that she is still the big boss of us.
You got that right.
I think she is about to Evict the human race.
what's with all the flooding around the World. Florida, France, Russia, Sweden, Japan, India......
Increasingly-extreme weather.
MSNBC has been posting articles on it for some time now. Here's one from just 2 days ago:
2011 Texas drought was 20 times more likely due to warming, study says
A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, and ours has already heated up enough to hold 4% more water than it did in 1970. That water doesn't spread itself out evenly over the planet, it comes down in torrential rainfalls that affect some regions, and leave others high and dry.
Expect to see a lot more of this.
The planet doing it's own thing like always.
maybe its the world correcting itself.
stewie4844===The planet does what it has always done. As for he planet correcting itself that could be true. I think it is doing what it has done through, the what 4.5 billion years it has been around.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in Japan affected by this horrible flooding.

YAHTC's taught me THAT!
So what is it; a cat right? Looks like. Fine teaching General.
Hey Jo, before you go, Flower too; concerning Zimmie getting the address from the street, turning around to go back to his car -it's a rediculous easily discredited account. I've been holding back some stuff, especially about that, and I noticed the detectives did not let Zimmie in on it. They did not question him so I know they do not want it to get out. I wish I could tell it!!!! But Corey and the detectives know it will work best if Zimmie is surprised by the question.
Are you girls through for the night what with the slow connection over there?
ONE last thing...poor sally...

TTYL
Hi Guys I'm late but I'm here! Had to do my hair so I can have a decent picture from motor vehicle. If there is such a thing, all of mine look like mug shots. Someone told me to wear blue, we'll see if it makes a difference.
Goodnight all and be blessed.
Rhama.......You FOUND US!!!!!
I had the mug shot picture the last time I had mine taken...the guy (he reminded me of t_v) was such a GRUMP, I didn't know when to smile....it's horrible.
Good Morning ALL!
Jo, just back from helping Sally out a little bit. (I still think we give Zimmie's side too much info in these exchanges.) :-( Corey has this covered and figured out; no need for us to worry.)
Hi Rhama and Flower.
You two are funny. Rhama, I am glad you are ready for the snap of the camera!
Now let's switch to a Zimmerman location so that this present site can just be about the flood victims. Okay?

Good plan General!
Yes General. Immediately!!!!
The last thing they neeed is more water. Sorry for them.
Ok ....Haven't these poor people been through enough ? Hoping things get better over there. Prayers to all ....
My heart goes out to these people. At least the country is experienced in massive clean up.
they are a very tough people, and as the tsunami disaster showed, they do not loot their own towns. impressive.
They can not seem to catch a break!
I wonder how much more those poor people can bear. Two extraordinary events in less than two years will surely test the metal of the Japanese.
mettle
MSNBC - Why is this Japan article under 'Europe' news???? Did the flood push Japan thousands of miles west?? lol
Nature has continued as it has for millions of years creating challenges for life. The Japanese are a resilient people and pull through such challenges collectively. They also are reflective and like to learn and try to prevent futur occurrences by making improvements. Japan is a most wonderful country and wonderful people.
Yes, for Millions of Years the Japanese people have endured hardship
Let me guess - global warming caused this?
Notice the Solar Panels on just about every homes roof.
Sorry to hear ....
Technology can help people to go to the space station and can help the rocket shoot to the destinated target. GPS or google maps can help us to see the map and the street view.
Can we have the technology that can "scan" the cloud, such as the thickness, or at least the size of the rain cloud?
People are still living on earth; attention may be needed to take care of earthly business, such as the storm is coming, then what?
Review the weather report and prepare the preventive measures.
They'll have this cleaned up in a week. Look at how quickly they cleaned up after the tsunami. Meanwhile, after Katrina....
All you need is a little pride in your community.
The floods and tsunamis won't stop until Japan stops killing our whales and dolphins.
