Aurora Police responded to the Century 16 movie theater early Friday morning, July 20, 2012.
Updated at 8:15 a.m. ET: Twelve people were killed and at least 50 others wounded early Friday when a gunman opened fire at a midnight screening of the summer blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises" near Denver, authorities and witnesses said.
Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told reporters that 10 people died at the scene and four others died after being taken to local hospitals. However, a police officer later told MSNBC TV that the death toll had been revised to 12. A three-month-old and a six-year-old girl were among those treated, according to reports. Wow I really hope they did catch the right guy and that he gets what he deserves!!!! My Prayers and thoughts are with everyone there and with the families of loved ones lost!!!! So Sad :(
Makes me sick to think someone would do this....i hope they catch him and give him what he deserves. I was there just last week, weird to think i could be one of the Victims, will be praying for those who have lost a loved one and who are injured.

What the hell was wrong with this guy? What was a 3 month old and a 6 year old doing at that movie in the first place? 3-2-1...let the gun-grabbing attempts begin.

That's it I'm getting a gun and a concealed weapons license. Been thinking about it along time. If just one person in that theater had a gun things would of worked out differently. "Gunman in theater shot and killed before he had the chance to shot innocent people." Do or die! The world is going to hell, I've been raped twice in my life and my house was broken into while I was home during the day. Arm yourselves it's kill or be killed.
Except that you still must observe laws and regs even as a concealed carry permit holder. The reality is that this kind of incident cannot be prevented without a serious infringement on personal liberty and that is too high a cost.
Actually, one person in the theater did have a gun. If nobody in the theater had a gun, things would of worked out differently.
Yeah, even more people likely would have been injured and killed. How does introducing a second person shooting into the crowd, and more crossfire for innocent people to get caught between, make the situation safer?

All those who think removing firearms from the people, better look at those in the middle east, the people aren't armed and the government army is kill them in masses. Don't think one bit of giving up freedoms for socalled safety,unless ALL fireams are removed in the country (the criminals will never allow this to happen). It's is ironic that Hollywood gives us a ton of killing and such in the movies, and we eat it up, can we really be suprised when someone acts it out. America is no longer a moral country, it started when morality (God) was removed from the public schools in 1962. You are just seeing what man does by our own nature, we are all guilty too.
Amen. You are absolutely right. When God was taken out of the schools it all started. Many of you don't even remember school prayers ... And, it keeps getting worse all the time. God has said "if you don't want me ... I'll leave! Satan said "Yeah, hey, hey ... I'm in" and now you see where we are. All the atheist liberals are firing up their keyboards right now, but it don't matter, what has been said is the truth, and the worst part is that you know it! Now we have to live with it! YEAHHHHH!!! I am so happy there are still people that believe in the way things used to be as far as God and our Country goes...when there was an emphisis on both in our schools, kids from birth on were respectful to others,taught by parents that paid attention to their children and teachers that taught because they cared about our kids, we all knew they were our futures, kids were polite, obiedient, and used manners when addressing or speaking to their elders, parents or otherwise, when there was a dispute between two kids it was worked out in a duke out that rarely lasted long and neither one died, and they all feared but loved and had faith in our God...now our kids are all armed and dangerous, are gangsters by the age of six, disrespectful to everyone and anything, parents don't have any control with their kids, and it is all about drugs, money and sex...i agree with what you said about guns...there are always the ones that don't follow the rules and end up ruining it for everyone...we need to be able to protect ourselves as our police forces are being over run chasing our out of control kids that grow in to psychotic adults! thanks for your comments it was great to see them!
Right, because no one has ever killed anyone in the name of God. And no one who said prayers in school would kill someone.
Time for a reality check.
That is the truth, I remember when i was little we would stand up every morning before class started and would say that little part "under god with liberty and justice for all." Its been so long but anyway I asked my little girl who is in elementary if say that little speech before they start class and she told me nope that there school dont do that. I think thats sad, and messed up. and like you said. They need to put God back into schools cause I dont want my children to grow up in this messed up world.
I may not believe in organized religion but I do believe in God and the comments here ring true. This country has become a sewer of hate,greed and violence.
Even if someone had a concealed gun in the movie theater it wouldn't have helped, didn't they say the gunman had armor on and a helmet?? and if they pointed it at him and missed they could have killed someone else and the gunman could have just shot them, so bringing another gun in this situation would only have made it worse...The gunman was also shooting those who were escaping it seemed like he was taunting in a way when he propped the exit door ( read in the news) This whole thing is aweful, even though I wasn't a victim or apart of this in anyway it still hits close knowing that those people who just wanted a night of fun with family and friends, were horribly attacked...and given so many nightmares...I will keep aurora in my prayers...

Spiderlips...your comment is stupid, stupid, stupid. This is an American tradgedy, not to be mocked or taken lightly. Enough time wasted on a stupid remark. I am, and will, for a long time into the future, be praying for the wounded and those who lost their loved ones in this senceless massacure. The world is far from the one, I want my children, to raise their children in. The Lord is in the hearts of our family members. May be if we want change, we should start with Him.
I wish they would take the title of the movie out of the title of the article, and for that matter, the article itself. The movie that was playing had nothing to do with this mad man. He would just have found some other movie. I hate to think of the movie, movie goers, and/or the movie makers making or losing money because of what this monster did.
And, as for guns, one more gun may not have made a difference. But, if EVERYONE had a gun... Well, he wouldn't have thought to do that, now would he? HMMMMM??????
