Ichiro's now a New York Yankee

Elaine Thompson / AP

New York Yankees right fielder Ichiro Suzuki catches a fly ball from Seattle Mariners' Kyle Seager in the first inning of a baseball game Monday, July 23, 2012, in Seattle.

AP reports: The New York Yankees acquired the star outfielder from the Seattle Mariners in a trade Monday for two young pitchers.

"I am going from a team with the most losses to a team with the most wins," he said. "It's hard to contain my excitement for that reason."  The Yankees also got cash in the deal that sent 25-year-old righties D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar to the last-place Mariners. The trade was announced a few hours before the Yankees played at Seattle. Continue reading the full story.

Ichiro paid his dues. He deserves some moments in the sun. Too bad it has to be with those Damn Yankees!

Again.... a major market team buying, when small market teams would love his joining the club.

      But?........................

Lack of fans buying tickets to see a @!$%#ty team play is not going to help any team. Those cheap owners have to open their wallets if they want fans in the seats!

You in KC ... I bet!

I like Ichiro and I like the Mariners (guess I'm a masochist), but really, this was the best the Yankees....THE YANKEES could get???? Who knows, Ichiro might turn out like Ortiz with the Red Sox and really come into his own (again), but chances are he's about at his sell by date that all pro athletes have.

I'm kinda torn whether or not to wish him well, because like mentioned above, THE YANKEES!!!!! Well, at least he did this trade with more class then Johnny Damon.

Love the Itch...but to be honest, he is better off in NYC. He deserves more than playing for MLB's only Big Show farm team. Felix, don't buy a new home...you're next.

Here in Seattle, a guy wants to build his own arena for NBA and NHL. Already bought the property. He will finance most of it, which is not the norm for owners in any sport. Mariners are fighting it. The GM says he doesn't want it because it will deter from the quality experience of the Mariners...WTF???

A MLB team with the worst record is a quality experience? For whom, the ones making the money? Now that the M's have theirs in the new "sports" zone in South Seattle (shared with the Hawks and Sounders), they don't want anyone else in there. What a joke the M's are...what a joke.

Port of Seattle also is whining...it will mess up their trucking, wah, wha what. How many NBA/NHL teams play during the day from 7 AM to 5 PM? They got theirs and now they don't want anyone else to get a chance. Glad I retire in a year and leave this bush town. I was impressed when I got here, now after 21 years, it shows what yokels they really are. Sad, this town's fans need better than that.

People in WA hate change, they always have to be dragged kicking and screaming and then once there, it's all like, wow, this isn't so bad, I actually like it.

Well, I could never leave, have you been watching the weather report from all over the country???? And how much of the US is under drought conditions? Naw, gimme this weather any day over the heat and humidity that everyone else is dealing with, I'd rather dodge the slugs then look at a dry caked lake bed.

Typical of the Yankees they just like the Dallas Cowboys every year they attempt to BUY a championship in their sports and I'm glad to see they have in most of the last few years, have failed to do so. I think it is a crime that they have all these athletes on the Yankees team that are steroid kings and they still have to try and buy a championship. A-Rod shouldn't even get credit for more than half of his hits and home runs, but ESPN and all the idiots rooting for him thinks that he deserves all of those acolites. He is nothing but a CHEAT and that is exactly what he should be treated as. It would make my year if neither team were to even make the playoffs:-)
