A firefighter comforts a handicapped girl who was rescued from a burning car, as others stabilize the driver in the background, after passers-by rescued the driver pinned in a burning car on Interstate 10 in Hancock County, Miss., Thursday, Aug. 16.

Two people were rescued by passers-by from a burning car in Mississippi following an accident on Thursday and AP photographer Gerald Herbert was there to capture it.  The fire was extinguished by the hose of a cement mixer and fire extinguishers from nearby truckers. The driver was then extracted from the wreckage by civilians as rescue personnel arrived.  She and her handicapped sister, who was removed from the wreckage earlier, were airlifted from the scene.

"We were all sure she was going to perish. The sounds of her screams and the sight of the fire inching closer to her, that was the most horrible and helpless feeling I've ever felt in my life," Herbert told the AP.

We are good people. We need to acknowledge that more among ourselves. It is too often that those that kill and maim and cause hardship and pain get the press ... When we do good for ourselves and others it is too often overlooked.

women drivers.

LOL...I take exception to that comment. Some of the best drivers are women and I include myself in that lot. My only accident after many years of driving, was caused by a man who hit me in the back. He was so wrong, that he immediately wrote me a cheque for estimated damages to my bumper and rear lights. :p

Chuck, that will be a difficult task, considering it was necessary to tell which of the two people was the driver.

Having said that, it was a good story with a happy ending.

Whose to say that God didn't do this just to show the world that there is still good on this planet. When all we hear is all the negative within the news around us. Seeing things like this, Americans working together regardless of race, gender or wealth (Sesame-3860931), brings a smile to us all. These women are alive today because of these people...who (I believe) God put on that road at the right time. As for "women drivers" ^ we don't know what caused the accident. It could have been a medical condition, automobile malfunction, animal... just because it was a female driver doesn't mean anything! These people who saved this family are heroes. Everyday Heroes that normally go un-noticed. God Bless everyone of these people & thank you all for your unselfish deeds! And to the photographer, thanks for letting the rest of the world see heroes in action!

Betty, Im with You. That's difference of having a relationship with God, we see things differently, and it's awesome. I lost my cousin and grandpa the same week, and stil I know there is always a purpose. I thank God he had people around with a good heart when this happened.

As for you R Battle, if you have a problem with Him, talk to Him, vent, tell him ... God I'm angry at you. You can even challenge Him. If you want to know Him, let Him know, wait and see what happens. You can ever dare Him. That's the awesome thing about Him, you can do all this things...

R bBattle, I would never think you are a hellhound person, that's were you are wrong. Just know this, no natter what God loves you and his arms are always open for you. No matter what you say to me, every word against will tell you Jesus loves you! I will go my marry way, but my prayers and thoughts won't. One thing is been baptist, the other is to get to know Him. You sound like you like facts, with God is my faith. The Bible clearly states " 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. I don't know what has happened to you, because I don't know you, but God does. When you are ready to open your heart to Him and let Him control your life, or when you in the bottom of the barrel and you call on Him, He will be there. Is up to you not Him.

You can't win this argument with any form of logic. Think of the mindset it takes to make this giant leap of faith, not to mention the fear that brought them there to begin with. I tell you, the Lord works in mischievous ways...etc, etc.

Nothing will be done about these illegals as long as obama and his goonies are in power.

This country is going to he-l in a hand basket.
