And if Israel pounces on Iran, the entire region could collapse into chaos.

Hopefully the rest of the world will be intelligent enough to sit back and let it all unfold how it may, instead of being dragged into it.

But, we humans have the intelligence to create nuclear weapons, and we have them pointed at each other, so I'm not getting my hopes to high.

See General Wesley Clarks 7 Countries for Regime Change on YouTube. I have been saying for months that the order is:

Syria, Lebanon, then Iran

The US and Israel are not attacking Iran until Syria and Lebanon are wiped out so they can attack Iran carte blanche without worrying about retaliation from Iran's allies to the north. If Syria and Lebanon fall, we are looking at a World War.

The Middle east explodes then watch the price of oil/gas. As you should know along with gas/oil increases the price of everything else will shoot up. How high will determine the interventionist policies used.

Yes, the US military industrial complex has most of US politicians in their pocket. And that monster constantly demands: FEED ME!!! I'm afraid that Israel will start a war with Iran, dragging us into a conflict much worse than Iraq and Afghanistan put together. Only Ron Paul would have the guts to tell Israel to go f-k themselves if Iran retaliated and hit Israel hard. Between the Jewish lobby and the military industrial complex, US taxpayers will get hosed big time, for generations to come. And if the war with Iran turns badly, we may see the return of the Draft.

Jack,

Oil inventories are up and demand is low. The Saudis have excess capacity. a short term spike is to be expected, but these events in the middle east can be the " good little war" that gets the world economy out of its recession.

The Saudis, Qataris, and the Bahrainis all have a stake in this and are opening their wallets to keep the mess confined and to their long term benefit. That money is going to the arms manufacturers.

The arms manufacturers are on both sides of the fence. The Chinese, licking their wounds after losing out on their Libya bet, are funneling arms to Syria via Iran with the hope of having access to oil fields when the dust settles, as they did in Libya.

It is in America´s and Israels interest that this thing is perpetuated for as long as possible. It´s a near perfect situation.

    #1.7 - Wed Aug 22, 2012 1:50 PM EDT

Marty, if the crude supply is up and demand is down as you say, how come the price of oil is still so high? War maybe in the interest of war profiteering scumbags but never in the interest of the People.

I also smell big $ in terms of a huge market for those guns and ammo....arms dealers, armament companies and their shareholders' stock rising all the way into the sky....my 401K may now get a much needed boost too.....so will be the rise in campaign finance and lobbysists' bank balances....then the trickle down economics will let some of that trickle down like the froth of beer onto my face....aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh......nice !

Those guys look so comfortable shooting those weapons, their people are born for this...they have been fighting against eachother since the beginning of time and anyone who thinks for a minute that they are going to stop is crazy. I am so glad that Obama is not sending troops over there, believe me once we arrive they will stop fighting against eachother and turn their guns on us.

I only hope that Obama focuses on ending Afganistan first before stepping into that pile of $hit in Syria, and if that is not enough Israel might think this is a good time to attack Iran sucking us into that quagmire which I assure you the US will lose 100 lives for every Israeli killed.

Hi HarleMan, just want to let you know. We are the ones creating the $hit in Syria. This is pure made in the USA. Of course there are people in Syria who want to be in charge, but they wouldn't (and didn't) stand a chance of taking over the country until we started supporting them by flooding the country with foreign fighters and weapons. It's great that the US government hasn't sent our boys over to die in Syria, but it kinda sucks for Syrians that we're ripping their country apart. My family lives there (Christians, if that makes any difference to you), and I can tell you, they have not been "fighting against each other since the beginning of time," only since the US launched their covert attack on the Syrian government. This is a proxy war, like so many we wage. And make no mistake, our government will be only too happy to send the best of the best in our country to go die over there the minute they think they will increase their profit doing so.

Hey Leila, I get your point. Before Assad was in power his father was and no one rose against him, his father should have been taken out 20 years ago with one bullet from a gun but no one did anything. Of course the US and the CIA has had and still does have it nose in Syria, I'm willing to take a bet that not many Americans are ready to go into Syria only to get shot back at by the same people they are supposed to be helping.

In answer to your question, I too am a Christian but I'm not sure what that has to do with what our discussion is about. A true Christian would be trying to find alternate solutions besides war instead of sending in the best of the best in my opinion.

I was born and raised in the US however, so lucky for me I'm capable of reading and understanding your contemptuous and racist words. Ironically, had you met me in person, we'd probably strike up a casual conversation and you'd walk away thinking, "gosh, what a nice gal," and I'd walk away thinking, "it's awesome to strike up casual conversations with people. People are so nice!" But maybe not, maybe you'd talk to me, then walk away thinking, "prehistoric idiot!"

If you're not, then I'm sure you're a very pleasant and well educated person I would enjoy getting to know.

By the way, why do you classify yourself as a prehistoric idiot ? Because of your heritage? What remark do you deem racist?

And I would say that in person, IF you were running around killing innocent people. As far as the term "prehistoric", I think that is apropos based on their horrible living conditions.

I also disagree that everything there has been peaceful. Assad's father gassed 30,000 people which seems a bit more like a ruckus than peaceful. There hasn't been a civil war, but no police states have them frequently. If the Jew haters on this site are right and America is Israel's lap dog, I would want you to cast aside any bias and ask yourself whether or not Isarel wants Assad in power or an unknown? While Israel and Syria havea constant war of words their border is more peaceful than the rest. Israel would prefer a stable Assad.

Assad gassed 30,000 people lol since when? Last I heard the only violence Assad was responsible for was the destruction of a village carrying only 12,000 people inside that dared to launch a revolution against his rule. The perpetrators of this revolution was dramatic pause the Muslim Brotherhood! They lost the revolution was decimated and Assad was victorious. The Muslim Brotherhood fractured and moved oh my god the United States, Britain, France, and other prominent western nations? Now Assad's son is in power and the revolution starts again and oh look who is leading their charge for freedom? The Muslim Brotherhood and if you think that we and our allies did not help them orchestrate this uprising you are blind to the truth of how your government really works on foreign affairs. And yes I agree with you Israel would deal with Assad before they deal with some islamist extremists.
