The Associated Press reports — Survivors of multiple earthquakes in southwestern China waited for shelter and other supplies on Monday amid forecasts of heavy rains that are likely to hinder ongoing search efforts.

The earthquakes on Friday in a mountainous area toppled thousands of homes and sent boulders tumbling down slopes, killing 81 people and injuring more than 800. Read the full story.

China, maybe you should spend some of your money on your citizens and their living environment instead of trying to buy everything in the world.

I'm sure they are waiting. Waiting for a group of Americans to come over there and do it for them, just like every other country in the world. Everytime something happens in the world, Americans rally up to go help them, mean while back here in the states people live in the streets and starve.

soooooooooooooo.... you support America's debt increasing as it continues to absorb the world's woes? And when America drowns in its debt, who do you propose is going to aid America? I hope that any American press present in China at the time of the quake APPLAUDED the misery like the Chinese press in Washington D.C. applauded 9/11.

Keep waiting, we need help ourselves here and were still waiting for help, thousands of people lost their homes here and alot of people lost their jobs and they have no health coverage just the basic things to live we no longer have so we need to fix our economy and our country we gave enough handouts and look at where it got us nowhere, everything thats sold in the U.S. is made in China so they should have enough of our money already.

It kind of looks like that's what socialist countries' citizens do, go to shelters and wait for the government to come to their aide. I realize there are things that they can't come by naturally to take care of themselves, but why wait for the government to do this or that? And yes, their government has the money to step right up and do the right thing, there shouldn't be any waiting. No, they shouldn't be expecting aide from the US. We already gave.

It is always sad to see the tragedies of natural disasters, and it is really a shame how long it takes our countries to respond to help save lives and getting people to shelter. I hope that all will be safe, especially the children.

These people will have to wait for aid from B.O. because he is awaiting word from China as to whether the United States' credit is still good before he can send China billions in aid.

    I wonder if most people posting here actually read the article before commenting. China never asked the U.S. for help, nor do they need it. People are in shelters because their homes were destroyed, not because it is a "socialist" country. (It's communist by the way.) It is dangerous for rescue workers and search dogs due to ongoing aftershocks and the threat of landslides from rain. That said, they seem to have set up medical facilities with clean sheets and beds and sheltered people with tents. It's a very mountainous region which makes delivering emergency supplies difficult when roads are blocked with huge boulders and debris. The Chinese are just as capable of taking care of their citizens as we are, and since their country has been around for thousands of years (as opposed to the U.S. which has been here a couple of hundred years) I'm sure they will make out just fine.

    Tell them to call their benefactor, Wal-Mart for assistance. Or, they can call the help line at 1-800-ScrewYou. OUR Government had better NOT send one red (Pun) cent to that country. As it is, they have all our money right now, what are we supposed to send them........watermellon? When the USA has a catastrophe, does China send US any help??? NNNOOOOOO ! ! ! Karma, Going around coming around, call it what you like, but they need to take care of themselves. The USA is fresh out of help.

    Obama will be sending millions of dollars of aid, then turn around and borrow more money from China to help pay our debts. Of which, then the millions sent cannot be found and is lost in the shuffle of government.

    For reference on the handlilng of money see Haitian earthquake articles and the people still dont have any of the aid money Obama set aside to help them, not to mention all the charities that made hundreds of thousands but very little has been spent to help them recover.

    China, you should be on your own, as you send inferior product and poisonous chemicals to our families and children, you need to care for your own and give them the same quality of crap you send to the US.

    The USA can no longer afford to help the entire world. Any natural disaster is terrible, but there is no money. The Chinese already have tons of American money from their exports, too bad that the working peoplle don't get any of it. Just like here, the hard working tax payers have no money, Obama gives all the money to illegals and lazy bums. Help America help itself, vote Romney!

By the way, the reason for us the tax payers not having any money; look at our politicians, all our politicians. Another thing this is not I repeat NOT a story on who you want for President. So don't be posting who you want. Stick to the story or don't post at all.

    kcolmore the reason for the people in the US living in the streets and starving is not China's fault or doing, it's the US government's fault and doing. For too many years our government has been helping the rich by allowing them and even helping them outsource jobs to other countries while here in the US more and more people endup on the streets because they loose their jobs to other countries.

    China's people are human just like us and it's not their fault of how or what their government does to run their country unlike here in the US we vote the people in to run our country and even though we know of how much the politicians help businesses to outsource jobs to other countries we keep voting them back into office.

    China's people need help and nobody else will stand up to help if we (the USA) does nothing to help. But if their was oil I bet our Politicians would be brainstorming right now on how to get to it.

      Why is everyone whining about how the Chinese expect America to come running to their aid? Nowhere in the article does it say that. These people lost their homes and with the amount of damage done, they don't have enough shelters on hand, so they need to wait for someone to bring it in, and that someone would be their own government. For all the problems in the Chinese government, earthquakes are a known factor for them and they do have plans in place to deal with the aftereffects of an earthquake.

      @FreeMcCoffee4TheCops:

      They have building codes. They also have corruption that allows corners to be cut and hills and mountains that will have landslides in the right circumstances, such as an earthquake. The deadliest earthquake known to have hit China - in 1556 - killed most of its victims due to a LACK of quake resistant building codes; the people lived in artificial caves that collapsed very easily. Improvements in the preparedness of the Chinese for earthquakes can be seen just by looking at the earthquake history of China. Even as their population trends up, the actual fatalities from earthquakes trends down.

      @Bobby P*****O**:

      I apologize for the hate-filled posts here. I swear, most Americans are not like that.
