Cadets at Virginia Military Institute pray before a major foreign policy speech delivered by Mitt Romney on Oct. 8, which was intended to distinguish Romney from President Obama on questions of foreign policy.
"The president is fond of saying that 'the tide of war is receding.' And I want to believe him as much as anyone," Romney said. According to recent poll data, Obama enjoys an advantage over Romney on both the question of which candidate would be a better commander-in-chief and which candidate voters trust to better manage foreign policy.

Why are the cadets praying? Is prayer a standard occurrence at the VMI? Can someone be a cadet there without engaging in prayer?
A prayer before a political speech seems as out of place as a prayer before a movie.
