I think one of the most difficult things to do when you’re in a debate must be to keep your reactions in check while you’re not talking. Vice President Joe Biden was very animated Thursday night. I wonder if sometimes he isn't mindful that he is always on camera during a debate, or maybe it's just part of his technique.
NBC's David Gregory and Tom Brokaw discussed Biden's reactions in their post-debate commentary. See the video below.

NBC News
NBC News’ Michael O’Brien also reported on Biden’s debate reactions
The vice president threw up his arms, laughed, scoffed and rolled his eyes in reaction to Ryan’s attacks – a seemingly visceral reaction to what Biden frequently called “malarkey” offered up by the House Budget Committee chairman.
Biden’s response to Ryan’s proposals to reform Medicare into a “premium support” or voucher system was a typical refrain for the vice president: “Folks, use your common sense: who do you trust on this?”
NBC News analysis: Both Joe Biden and Paul Ryan performed their tasks well but may not have persuaded many undecided voters.

Joe Biden was just being himself. He's comfortable, and he has a passion for the subjects. I did see some genuine answers in Joe Biden, and he was having fun with it, because he loves his job, and he's real.
On the other side, I saw alot of pre-learned leactures from Paul Ryan. It's like he had a bag of mini-speeches to dip into, depending on the subject. I didn't see him as being genuine. I get the same impression from him, as I do from Romney. Lie's and a general attitude of "I think I can-I think I can".
biden was right on with the issues .. if americans cant see that then we have a problem with drug users in this country.. shame on ryan for lying to americans and then getting upset when being called out on his lies..
... everyone commenting on smiling joe .... good for him ... take a look at ryans face ... his lips disappear and nothing left but a 8 inch line across his face he looked like a cartoon character ready to explode .... BIDEN WON HANDS DOWN ... excellent debate ... Ryan still DID NOT give specifics .... why is that - what are they hiding ....
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 - PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE .......... NO MORE WARS ...
joe had to laugh, how else do you respond to someone who say what ever it takes to get elected even lie & distort the facts just to look good & in romneys own words i dont care about facts, not presidental at all, just cant belive what comes out of his mouth it changes like the weather.after all he made a lot of money by taking advantage of a bad economy & shipping american jobs overseas & braging about it he took the fdic for over 30,ooo,ooo with bain capital & that is a fact that is why he dont belive in facts the truth hurts & romney cant take the truth thats why what he says changes like the weather OBAMA BIDEN ALL THE WAY. our futures depend on that fact
Joe had to laugh. He was trying to defend his and Obama record. It is a joke.
Smirk and laugh and play the fool and you get low IQ morons to defend you and say you won.
It is a joke what these two have done but sane people are not laughing.
ru: VP Biden laughed at all of Ryan's lies...which is why he laughed so often.
So it was OK for Mitt to smirk when debating President Obama, but not when Biden uses it against lying Ryan????
Americans want real, and VP Biden is real....lying Ryan was too scripted and false.
Biden's Laughter was because he knew Ryan was full of Malarky & he knew it.
How ironic, Fox loves bully Chris Christie, loved it when Mitt was debating President Obama with a big smirk, and yet when it is done against them, they whine and wail.
VP Biden was great, he was passionate and down-to-earth, contrasted with the mealy-mouth scripted Ryan, Biden came across as real...which is what Americans want.
Obama/Biden 2012
Ironic - Is the same side that is complaining about Biden's interruptions, the same side that applauded Romney's aggressiveness last week? You can't have it both ways guys!
Style and personality are not the issue; the facts are - and Ryan had none yesterday (or ever will) in this election cycle! The strategy is to critic your opponent, yet never bare your facts/plans for fear of scrutiny. Ryan/Romney criticize the administrations foreign policy; yet when pressed, they have no differences in their approach! They have the habit/knack of taking the opposite of whatever the Obama administration does. Take Romney's initial opinion on America's role in the Libya uprising as an example and compare that to his stance of Syria's even though it will be less favorable in the Syria situation. Biden squashed that!! He bares open the merits of the Romney/Ryan policies. Forget the body language and the gestures. Who was truthful? Who dodged answering question?
When is the media going to play the right role? The role of baring the facts and exposing who is right/wrong about the issues. In place of fact checking and educating voters on the issues and whose plan will bode well for Americans, we focus on pettiness like laughs and gestures. Joe Biden is Joe Biden - you get the facts with the emotion and gestures.
Ryan's 'cookie jar' statement (about the Dems being caught with their hands in the cookie jar) is ridiculous because he incorporates the same dollar amount in his unpopular budget. Like President Clinton said, ..."it takes some guts..."
I will add, it takes some guts for a copycat to criticize the originator when that copycat is doing the same thing.
Ryan clearly lost. Why was he drinking so much water anyway? Was he nervous, uneasy, having a tough time? I kept wondering who was filling his glass?
For months now the American voters have been asking about the specifics of the Mitt Ryan plan and yet they still they can;t answer that very simple question. They say they have a 5 pint plan, but no one knows that plan. Mitt say he can create 12 million jobs, but tells us nothing about how he could do that. They keep telling what they will do but never how they will do it. If empty plans and empty promises are the plan , then we finally get it. Maybe Clint brought that empty chair for Mitt so he could crown the Myth on stage.
Do you listen but not hear? The 5 point plan is simple:
1. Lower taxes for EVERYONE to include small business so more job creation can occur.
2. Get Americans more educated to be able to compete in a global economy. American education is a sad joke!
3. Lower the deficit. We cannot keep running the country on money we don't have. We have to quit spwnding on crap that is a total waste!!
4. Elevate our standing on the world stage. Obama in 4 short years has destroyed American credibility with the world. Iran knows hes a joke and Russia tells him what he has to do for the most part. 4 Americans murdered in our Embassy (our soil) and nothing done yet. (Bump in the road statement shows Obamas lack of leadership)
5. Get America back to work. Obama has neve run a business and trying to learn on the job as President is a failure. Romney has been a business leader his entire adult life. He has experience and know how to actually get us back to where we need to be as a nation.
I know everyone has their own reason to vote one way or the other, whether its abortion issue, Obamacare, or whatever. People on these blogs will not change their position on why they think like they do. I don't want to change anyone....I want people to not be idiots when they go to the polls....they eed to actually know whats going on. I see posts on here that my kids could disprove.
People just need to get smart ...... Americans used to actually listen and investigate things rather than blindly believing the one liners from our politicians.
Anyway.....good luck....
Romney/Ryan 2012 - 2016
Give me specifics, and I might vote for you. Romney/Ryan are refusing to provide particulars because they are pandering to anti-Obama people. This is not a high school popularity contest or student council. Tell me what you are going to do with specifics. What are you cutting besides PBS? How will you create jobs without spending money? Stop telling me a five point plan. It sounds ridiculous in 2012. Old politics. Give me something to consider. This stuff doesn't just happen like magic. Until then, Obama/Biden have my vote, and I think it is a good one.
Jobs will be created by not taxing small business to death. How many businesses do you know that are happy being the size they are at? Businesses are always trying to grow. Jobs come with growth. We don't need to spend more money, we need to leave the people who create jobs the money to build and in turn create jobs. You need to take the time to actually investigate the 5 point plan and judge yourself. Its not old politics, but listening to an old man call Ryan "my friend" reminded me of the politician in "Brothers where are thou?" He just need a broom!!
VP Biden was the clear winner. Ryan was like Richard Nixon "I have a Plan"...Long on Promises, short on details. Vote to re-elect Obama/Biden. If the Tea Party doesn't go to work for AMERICA...the opportunity to vote them out in 2014 will break the gridlock and help secure a bi-partisan and more secure future.
Had your chance in 2010...total party control. Your party couldn't even pass a budget....
It started in 2010....finishes in 2012..... Romney/Ryan!!
The laughing and silliness was crazy. He looked like a creepy, crazy old man.
Biden was outstanding! Ryan tried hard to pull lie after lie, but Biden did not back down or let him get away with it. Scariest of all was Paul Ryan's comments and vision about the Middle East. If Romney-Ryan win, it's not hard to see wars in Syria, Libya, Iran and possibly Egypt.
I LOVE JOE BIDEN!
You gonna be lovin Biden when Iran starts a nuclear war in the mideast?? Biden is old and out of touch .....
Regardless of how much laughter and distain Biden showed, he cannot and did not say anything other than what the Dems have been spouting for months. The point is the policies they follow DO NOT WORK!! Reiterating your position on failed policies is not going to win an election!!
What in God's name is the name of the Senior "Crown Mouth" debating the future VP. Can you imagine this Moron in charge of the president's chair in case BO is taken out? His next election should be as admittance to the PA Miner's Hospice Home? This Game is over and done.
A couple of things:
Does anyone else out there think that Obama was at the moderators wedding might be a conflict of interest? Oh wait, thats the libs way of doing anything and everything. Keep it in the family! Talk about IN BREEDING!!!!
Does anyone else out there think that the fact our current sitting VP doesn't have better intelligence then the public (Benghazi) a little strange? Oh yeah, I'll just say "We didn't know!!" I guess if that satisfies you liberals…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...and you damn liberals BELIEVE THAT! Too funny. If you ask me, this country is going to @!$%# and you deserve what you get. Obamacare, medicare, Social Security...again, HAHAHAHA. Idiots.
Does anyone not care that Obama gave soooo much of our taxpayer dollars to green energy companies that then went tits up? Are you KIDDING ME????? $535 MILLION dollars is a lot of money, ya think?
"Jonathan Silver, a former venture capitalist who insisted Solyndra was "headed in the right direction" months before the company went bankrupt and its offices were raided by the FBI, was chief of the Obama administration's clean-energy loan program, which has come under fire since the company filed for bankruptcy in September." Four months after the comments, Solyndra fired 1,000 employees, ceased operations, filed for bankruptcy, and saw its offices raided by the FBI. Its top two executives were brought before a congressional panel, but they invoked their Fifth Amendment right to refuse to testify. Mr. Silver's advocacy for Solyndra was described Tuesday by The Washington Times. Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Rep. Fred Upton, Michigan Republican, and Oversight and Investigations subcommittee Chairman Rep. Cliff Stearns, Florida Republican, said the resignation "does not solve the problem. We are in the midst of the Solyndra investigation and just days removed from Mr. Silvers mad rush to finalize the last $4.7 billion in loans before the statutory deadline," they stated, adding that President Obama last week declared the loan guarantee program sound and that it was to be expected that one company like Solyndra could fail." To be expected??? $535 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA again, why do liberals ignore stuff like this? Amazing…Are you all STONED???
I hope you get what you're asking for. I'd really like to see each and every one of obamas supporters faces when this country fails. Don't come knocking on my door...you'll get a nice 12ga. welcome.
Biden's asinine grinning and laughter even while the most serious subjects were being addressed was creepy!
Ryan is at his best when discussing and analyzing facts and figures. I imagine Biden was instructed to try to provoke Ryan into reacting emotionally, and straying from his reasoned analyses. Biden, of course failed, but that would be an explanation for his rudeness, constant interruptions, demented smirks, and inappropriate laughter.
Another explanation is simply that Biden is getting senile.
Well now we know Biden can get a job at the Circus when he and Obama lose in November. His antics were embarassing and rude. He acted like an ass. Obama is arrogant and Biden is an ass. 4 more years of Obama and his clown will further bankrupt this country. Obama and Biden are not willing to reform Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Instead they want to raise taxes which won't remotely solve the problem because of the debt. You could tax the millionaires and billionaires at 100% and the problem wouldn't be solved. We have to quit spending money we don't have. There will be no entitlement programs left if Obama and Biden are relected
Joe woke up Alice in Wonderland right in the middle of the Tea Party. It was time for school.
When listening to Romney or Ryan lie, you can either laugh or get angry about the sheer idea of deception. Joe helped me laugh all the way to the polls. All the gullible morons in the Republican base deserve Romney and Ryan. Either way, the fools will lose, but if Obama is elected, they won't get hurt. That's a hard one. For democrats and progressive to moderate independents, its a win/win situation, except for the shared pain of being unable to leave for four years while Republicans have to stay.
Biden was a typical, overbearing, know-it-all liberal ass.
