Journalists were taken on a government-organized tour of a detention center in Beijing on Thursday. The rare access to the facility, which has capacity for 1,000 inmates, was offered to the international media as China prepares for the Communist Party Congress, which is due to open on Nov. 8.
Detention centers in China are primarily for people who have been detained by police on suspicion of committing a criminal offense and are awaiting trial.

Coming soon to America thanks to the N.D.A.A.
We should send our prisoners to China as free labor. That would save us billions of dollars per year.
Hope we are still in time to stop it or to prolong it from happening is we vote no to socialism/communism ideas in that one man this elections. I know the law passed but I also know I never was asked for my vote on it; so those who are responsible for passing it should be the ones benefiting from it. it should be a way to undo it by the majority; we the people.
NDAA is another example why Americans need to read more and inform ourselves about the government we are electing to "represent" us...November 6th and even now is a good start for it. Never will be late while there is some life and some freedom still left to act on it.
Romney-Ryan 2012
They have toys? How old are the children they are locking up?
Have you considered maybe the inmates have kids that visit them????Duh
Maybe after all the things they do to the inmates their minds are like a 5 year old. So they need toys.
Nice one Tony.
Seriously folks, the Chinese propaganda people are pulling a fast one showing off their shiny new detention and interrogation center. The measure of such a facility is not how nice it's constructed to be.. it's what they do to people inside of 'em...hehe.
You only get to have one child in China. Apparently they really favor boys......
Cute dog-and-pony show.
Looks like my old high school almost.
Yes, my old high school has detention facility, too.
These days, public high schools resemble detention facilities. I think California's value-engineered out windows from its new schools, because of budget and security concerns.
the photo of Ann Romney and 2 other of the Romney tribe smiling at the president shaking hands with a blond haired little boy.is news worthy and goes As far to prove ,Mormon women like successfull black men, as this set of photos proves .da there are prisons in China. Send the people that are not communists to the prison head shrink
Of course this detention center is unusually clean and well-staffed. The rest of the Chinese prisons are less well maintained, cold, understaffed and totally off limits to photographers. Remember that China imprisons more than 600,000 people every year (where do the 'other' inmates go?) That's almost as many people as Disney entertains in a week at any of their parks. Most of those inmates never again see the light of day, and it is noted that many of them (over 30%) never return from even short sentences. This is obviously an attempt to buy some credibility for the communist party prior to their big convention this year. Of course, there is no other party to belong to, so this is just smoke and mirrors to show the population how 'nice' it is to be in prison in China. Hogwash!
Nice chair. In a room easy to hose out after the "interogation" is done. How far down the hall is the morgue?
Stark, Dismal, Cold, Depressing but the interrogation room takes the cake.
Sound proof walls, stainless steel chair, arm extension for injections. Wonder how waterproof the floor is to hose down the room of body fluids after questioning.
If this is an example, you can imagine what the prisons look like.
What is a Detention Center?
This is the Detention Center. This is where they convince you , you committed the crime then off to prison
@ steve1167608.....you can say that again!
How do you like that interrogation chair with the little table they can put your hand out on. "Now sign the papers that state you were not mistreated while you were here".
This article is for nothing. I know nothing more than I did 15 minutes ago,
but the female guards are hot!!
looks just like the facilities in the united states. but it looks like they stick to their budget and spend a lot less money.
This one's new. Once the interrogation rooms get caked with blood, things tend to get filthier.
THIS is what to expect with OBAMA, eat right or else!
