Spc. Brett Hyde, Tomb Sentinel, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), keeping guard over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during Hurricane Sandy, at Arlington National Cemetery, Va., Monday, Oct. 29.

Sandy inspires a flurry of fake images on social media...and a correction

CORRECTION: A photo that appeared earlier on PhotoBlog of soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was incorrectly dated by the First Army Division East Facebook page to Oct. 29. The photo was from an earlier storm and has been removed from PhotoBlog.

You can see the image in a collection of photographs that is circulating on social media and being attributed to Hurricane Sandy. Some of the images are from previous weather events; in other cases, they are almost comical fabrications.

Above, you can see the Tomb as it appeared today.

Dedication to the men who served and are serving now.

Thank you to the Honor Guard for standing tall.
