People wait on line to buy gasoline during a Nor'easter snowstorm on Nov. 7, 2012 in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.
Miguel Llanos, NBC News reports: Snow fell on the tops of damaged homes and debris piles in parts of the New York City area as a nor'easter moved in Wednesday, causing new power outages ahead of gusts that could reach 60 mph overnight.
About 1,200 flights were canceled across the Northeast, while residents of a few areas hit hardest by Superstorm Sandy last week were urged to evacuate in case of new flooding. Long Island Rail Road service was also suspended before 7 p.m. because of weather-related signal problems, NBC New York reported. Read the full story

God is talking to us through New York. Are we listening?
Will you stop the ignorance already, please. This is science and nature, perhaps as a result of global warming. It has nothing to do with fiction and fairy tales.
It is our chioce to believe in GOD PLEASE do not try and man handle us into believing what you do, it is a free world I believe it is God cleaning the Earth !!!! We sure don't do it.
Oh sure, God cleanses the earth by killing two young children; brothers two and four, in the most frightening and horrific way during the hurricane. Your belief system is alarmingly warped. Your portrayal of a God as a mass murderer and serial killer, only serves to enforce my beliefs and convictions. It is beliefs like yours that IS the problem with this world. You are not part of the solution. You ARE the problem.
Siobhan ----- your post is the fairy tale, global warming produces snowfall, NOT!
jusbkoz
I do not think the poster was making reference to snowfall ONLY, since that's normal for New York during winter. It is my understanding that he/she was also referring to hurricane Sandy and her destruction of parts of New York.
Get over yourself, Jusbkoz. The weather is still not caused by a fairy tale God.
Global warming can introduce snowfall. your taking the term too literally. warm trend can shift currents/ shift weather patterns etc...it can totally create snow fall and colder weather
ClownsWillKillYou , thank you for that clarification. Yes, that's my understanding of global warming.
Please be safe and careful with everything you normally would do given these times
We're with you
My thoughts and prayers are with all the people suffering through this mess. Y'all are certainly being heroic in your efforts to maintain a "normal" life. I can certainly empathize with you as we went through this mess during the tornadoes. The devastation and loss of services, electric, phone, gas, etc., certainly make it hard to carry-on. I witnessed fights at gas stations, which were totally ridiculous, price gouging, looting, and total disregard for fellow humans. At the same time, there were those of us who came together to help others. We had neighborhood cookouts, fed volunteers, took water and blankets and chairs to those who lost everything. It seems from the reports everyone is pulling together to help others, which is how it should be. Stay strong, it will get better soon!
Ouch!! My family live in Mass and my in-laws live in New York. Thankfully my father-in-law bought 25 - 5gal jugs of gas BEFORE the Sandy hurricane hit. Plus he has a backup generator. Don't know why people don't do this ahead of time. They had like a week to prepare. This is why I now live in Arizona. lol!!
Hopefully, there will be no more damage or deaths from this winter snow storm. I pray for my family and everyone else who lives on the East Coast and has to deal with this outrageous weather.
siobhan - you are a fairy tale troll!!!! Hurricane Andrew in FL and Katrina in LA left the same thing - living during Andrew we were without power for over a month and suffered the same hardships. They warned people ahead of time but no matter how much of a warning people get, they do not prepare.
OMG727...and your point is?
yes, Andrew was bad--awful--but we were not cold!!! Sandy is sooo much worse simply for the cold.
No sympathy for ya.... More to come for you BLUE states.
And you consider yourself an American....pathetic
FYI - the area along the shore that was most impacted in Jersey is the RED area of this blue state. So if anything it's the people that voted for Romney that were hurt the most.
And here's a bit of advice for the Republicans out there moping about. LEARN from this election. The GOP has swung too far to the right to win a general election. They have spent too much time and energy focusing on social issues and not fiscal ones. You cannot win if you continue to paint yourselves as the party that believes that rape victims deserve it, Gays should burn in hell, and the environment is not worth saving.
Instead what you should be focusing on and making the foundation of your platform is expanding AMERICAN business, getting people back to work. Strengthening the Middle class. Improving trade relations. Making America great again. The only way that is going to happen is if you take back the primary elections from the RIGHT WING LOONIES. The biggest problem Romney had was that in order to win the nomination he had to swing to the right. I believe, based on his record, that he was much more of a MODERATE than he appeared to be during the primary. That performance gave the impression that he was a flip flopper and he scared a lot of fiscally conservative, socially liberal Republicans. Go back to the time when the GOP was truly great, the party of Lincoln, Eisenhower, and Reagan. TAKE BACK THE GOP NOW!
Yeah---ask YOUR Prez for help--- see what that will get ya!
My heart aches for the people on the east coast, the just keep enduring more.
they are tuffer... than a ten cent steak...
Can I get an AMEN?
As I sit here I have to wonder how much more can these folks handle? I urge everyone to give any amount that you can spare to the Red Cross for these folks in NJ and NY. These are Americans and need our support. This is not about politics or religion. It is about Americans that need our help.
Wow i feel bad for these people, hang in there and you will get through it. However, dont claim this as record snowfall. I always find it amusing when it snows 5 inches and people who are not use to it panic. Guess some people are just not cut out for cold weather. Anyways my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you experiences this horrific event.
I wonder how you'll feel when you have to tell Him that.
Good
Seeing someone suffer should bring out our compassion for them whether to pray, help or just treat each other a little nicer.
I can't hold back any longer. Whenever we get a hurricane down here in South Louisiana.........especially the last big one, (Katrina) I can't tell you how many a-holes from the NY area that would not stop running their mouths about how stupid we were for living here where we were below sea level. No sympathy what so ever. So to all of those that said mean things.........KARMA. How does it feel now. If you were one of the good people and said nothing at all or good things, then I truly feel for you and I hope things get better very soon for you. It sucks having to go through what you are going through. Trust me.......I know. In fact I know about every 3 years what it feels like. Now, before any of you say anything mean and stupid...........remember,,,,KARMA.
It is very sad that some people are so mean. What they need to remember is , what goes around comes around..........
Take time to launch the slideshow. Even Bob the Builder is at a loss for words.
george bush wouldn't have done a thing, like he did with Katrina!!!
thanks Obama, somebody cares about the little people and it ain't
the republicans
Magoo, You are just plain ignorant.
Obama will fix it. He is the President who cares about people. Hang on NY and NJ Obama is coming. Waht a humanitarian he is.
It is truly sad to see how much hate is in the world. Yes, there were people that did not prepare and there will always be, have a heart, these people are hurting and need help. It's not fair to condemn them for their choices when we are all living in the same country. Natural disaster can strike anywhere from hurricanes, earth quakes, to tornados, it just happens. We all need to be there for one another.
