Afghan Shiite Muslims flagellate themselves during an Ashoura procession in Kabul on Nov. 24.

Each year during Ashoura, Shiite Muslim men & boys whip their backs with chains and cut their heads with knives, drenching themselves in blood to mourn the loss of one of the faith's most revered figures, Imam Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, who was killed in the 7th century battle of Kerbala.

What do shocking, senseless, scarring displays such as this say about us as a human race? . . . it says we really haven't crept up the evolutionary ladder as far as we'd thought we had. It's hard to imagine so-called "adults" doing this sort of thing to themselves, much less allowing their children to witness it and do the same.

This madness is rightly matched by Sunni Muslims blowing up these Shiites while going on pilgrimage, processions and on Fridays while praying in mosques.

In Pakistan, Sunni Muslims have improved their art of religious barbarism. After blowing up Shiites mosques, they bomb the hospitals where the injured are being treated!

Come to the real world Islamic madness in 21st century!

Hey, I admit I'm not the sharpest tack in the box,but isn't this suposed to be the religion of peace? So,what's up with the infatuation with blood? The more you bleed the more virtuous you are? Like the man said "not equating Islam with violence is like not equating Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse"

Islam has different faces at different time!

"Each year during Ashoura, Shiite Muslim men & boys whip their backs with chains and cut their heads with knives, drenching themselves in blood to mourn the loss of one of the faith's most revered figures, Imam Hussein"

This Shiites face of sacrifices!

There is another version of Islam: love and dance version, Sufism!

In many places, followers of Islamic cult could not conquer with swords. They used these screaming and dancing love and dance versions. You have to watch them do them to believe!

In Pakistan, a pure Islamic nation, has Sufis get special treatments! They get blown up while praying in mosques and even the hospitals are bombed to kill more of injured!

This love and dance version gets into weeping and wailing mode! It will be better if Amerika saves them with money and blood when required.

Sufis of Mali are again getting special treatments!!

Call: Islamic religious madness gone into out of control states!

Agreed but few indoctrinate their youth to spill blood like it is good thing .This is brainwashing. Any sensible person would call this child abuse. We are to too politically correct to say it though would'nt want to offend anyone.

Don't Catholics simulate drinking the blood of their god during Mass? I don't see muych difference there.

Here is the difference.. The Catholics are only drinking wine it is symbolic, it is not blood. The Muslims take their beliefs very literally. That is a huge difference a dangerous one too.It would be good If Islam could evolve, as practically all western religions have, but it seems to be out of the question.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Christianity has been awash in blood for many hundreds of years. An excellent evolutionary step would be for mankind to move beyond this sort of practice. All of it is baseless and brainless.

The proof that there is intelligent alien life in the universe is the fact that they have NOT tried to contact us. Would you contact a race of supposed intelligent creatures if you saw the kind of display depicted in these photographs? The rest of the universe thinks we are nuts. Are they are correct. Mankind is insane.

The above is an example of Islamic religious madness unlimited!

Followers of Islamic cult have fast marched backwards to their seventh century tribal days stealing, looting, raping, kidnapping, killing and genocides of non-Muslims and their own Muslim minority sects like Shiites, Sufis, Ahmedias and minority tribes.

Assad is one of the best ME Muslim leader. Why can’t the Sunnis tolerate him?

If he is not acceptable to Sunnis, why a Shiite leader is not permitted to take over in Bahrain?

We see Muslims inventing problems in most of the non-Muslim nations and many Muslim nations.

Even in the US, we can notice these actions!

When Muslims form more than five percent, downhill march starts.

Muslims are inventing problems in Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines, India and other places.

When they form more than 30 percent then it is Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria, Lebanon (few decades back)

If Saudi Arabia and many Muslim nations do not permit non-Islamic religious places and scriptures, Muslims have no right to have their mosques, hate preaching and killer training centers, in non-Muslim nations.

If non-Muslims can’t live in peace in Muslim nations, Muslims don’t have any right to live in our nations.

Islam has to reform with times. If it fails to do then it will be end of Islam in this century itself as their Allah has predicted. It will follow communism!!

You can not take a limited case in one of the Muslim countries and generalize it on all the Muslim nations. Non-Muslim people are living in peace in many Muslims like my country (Iraq). They are many US citizens are living in Basrah in South of Iraq within their jobs with International oil companies. There was problems regarding the foreigner armies in Muslim countries, but there is not any problem regarding other non Muslim people to live there.

Imam Ali, profit Mohammed's brother said: the people must be divided in two kinds: Either your brother in religion or your partner in creation.

At last, you should read a lot carefully about Islam in order to understand the reasonable reasons for their rules.

Wathiq...: What are you talking/posting? Are you living Iraq?

Do you people imagine that others are a bunch of fools not to understand what is going on?

In Baghdad itself there are regular suicide bombings. When Shiites go on pilgrimage to Karbala, pilgrims are bombed.

In Iraq, there will be bloody civil wars between Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds!

Most of the Christians have left after Saddam's downfall in Iraq.

If you look at the above photos, only high Islamic heroin addiction people can do such mad acts in 21st century!

When it comes to Saudi Arabia, one-way traffic bigoted House of Saud Sunni Islamic beasts are ruling with no rights of any sort to minorities.

We can't have non-Muslim religious places there. But the same ungrateful and backstabbing Saudis and other Sunni rulers are financing Salaffi and Wahhabi mosques (hate preaching and killer training centers) all over the world.

NATO forces saved the Islamic seventh century despotic, corrupt, and bigoted Sunni rulers of Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia including their "holy/Sunni Islamic hell hole places".

In most of the non-Muslim nations, a high percentage of followers of Islamic cult are a liability and curses on the society.

World will be better with most of you refusing to reform the religion with times.

If you people don't reform with times, as your Allah has predicted it will be end of Islam soon!

Imam Hussain (pbuh) witnessed the deteriorating political and social situation and clearly recognized that the general policy of the authorities did not abide with Islamic principles. He was aware of the Ummah’s numerous and afflictions, and was determined to exercise his religious duty, being the duly sanctioned leader & central figure capable of restoring Islamic values. Thus he rose. His revolt is rich in lessons and divinely inspired attitudes. Imam Hussain (pbuh) embodied the sacrifice of self, money, family, social status and the challenge to terror and cruelty. He patiently traversed hundreds of miles, moving both night and day. The epic protest he engendered came at the most critical political juncture.

In fact, the Prophet’s grandson had vowed to sacrifice himself.

This is where your Mohammed and your Mohammed's grandson are in Mecca and Medina.

House of Saud, a strict Wahhabi, is not even tolerating Prophet Mohammad’s heritage places. House of Saud consists of a megalomaniac, despotic and bigoted ruler and highly corrupt, despotic, bigoted seventh century mindset 5000 princes and princesses.

In Mecca, the house of one of the wives of Mohammed was demolished and converted into public lavatories. Mohammed’s birth place may vanish with plans to have skyscrapers, mega shopping malls and a Grand mosque!

In Medina, ten years ago a mosque of grandson of Mohammed was dynamited and the religious police were celebrating on this. There are plans to pull down three seventh century mosques in future.

Imam Hussain has told his enemy in Kerbala "“If you are determined to fight me then I am ready; watch how the Grandson of the Prophet fights; see how the son of Ali and Fatima fights. Even after three days of hunger and thirst, I am not afraid to die. For me death is better than surrender.”

You Shiites are experts in fighting girls, women, minorities and unarmed people.

Some add their tenth century desert dances while you people stone them.

You people are a sheer bunch of cowards.

Sunnis are doing genocides of Shiites, Sufis and minority tribes in many Muslim nations.

They are blowing up your mosques; blowing up pilgrims on the way to Karbala and they are pissing on you Imam Hussain!

If Sunnis can’t tolerate a very good leader, like Assad, then Shiites should not accept Sunni rulers either. Sunni rulers have been treating girls, women, Shiites, Sufis, Ahemdias and minorities worse than slaves.

Time has come for all Shiites, Sufis and other Muslim sect people to stand up and battle for liberations from Sunni barbarians and beasts.

So this means Shiites should ask for their Shiastans wherever they form more than 10 percent.

They should start their liberation struggles from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan (20 percent), Qatar, Oman and other places which have Sunni rulers.

Shiites of Iraq should side with Kurds and should stop oil supplies to Turkey for supporting the Sunni Islamic extremists like al-Qaida, MB in Syria.

Shiites of Bahrain should overthrow their autocratic, corrupt and despotic Sunni ruler.

As they have been taking blows and killings by Sunnis, these Sunnis are able to act as they like to Shiites.

Shiites of Iran should side with Assad and see that all the Sunni rebels are eliminated.

What are the brave Hezbollah doing?

They should do suicide bombings in Mecca and Medina. Or else Shiites genocides just like the genocides of non-Muslims by the Sunni Islamic religious Nazis will continue.

Now Sunnis are only pissing your Imam Hussain. If you people don't battle them, they will be pissing on each of you!

Karbala proved to be a clash involving Islamic truths versus falsehood, belief versus disbelief, and the oppressed versus the oppressor, faith against brute force. Karbala was about standing in the face of oppression, regardless no matter the cost. In Karbala, Imam Hussain the fifty seven year old second grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), sacrificed his totality and all he had, for one goal. This goal was to let the truth triumph over falsehood eventually, and he did that brilliantly. His goal was to foil the plan that Muawiya had expertly developed for his son, Yazid, which was to establish a permanent Umayyads (Banu Umayya) ruler ship over the Muslim Ummah (even by sacrificing the Islamic principles), but doing it in the name of Islam. Brilliantly, Imam Hussain (pbuh) succeeded in foiling this plan and he exposed the disreputable nature of Umayyads though this was at the expense of his life.tn

                  You are writing big theories.

No one cares a little bit for theories on religions. Actions are more important than what religious people claim, dance or scream!

                  I was against Iraqi wars.

I would have been glad if Saddam had bulldozed Sunni House of Saud and all Sunni Arab League rulers palaces along with their harems, princes and princesses.

For many non-Muslims, Sunni House of Saud and Sunni Arab League rulers and their Sunni extremist versions of Salaffi and Wahhabi are No. 1 enemy!

I am against US and allies intervention in Syria and Iran. I am against sanctions of Iranian oil.

As a non-Muslim and jihadi material like you Shiites, Sufis and minority sects like Kurds, I have been cheering you people.

You people have proved to be so worthless and idiotic that you people can't even form alliances with other groups.

At least learn from Sunni Saudis and other Sunni Arab League rulers. They operate nicely through oil companies and their lobbyists in the US and other places.

Even here you people are more busy doing sword and knife harakaris and chains than facing Sunni Saudis.

It highly frustrating even to cheer you tenth century Shiite heroin addicts!

All you religious fruitcakes and morons go on and keep killing yourselves and each other -- and let me know when you're done so I can go on and continue living my peacefu, tolerant and non-violent life without seeing or hearing about any of you ever again. Whether you be Muslim (and I don't give a rat's ass what kind of Muslim), or Christian or Catholic or Protestant or Jewish or whatever the hell other religions there are, you are all fools following fools and too afraid just to love and let live. There is no God in this universe who has or ever will speak to you or your so-called prophets and condone or rejoice in your murderous, self-righteous and hypocratic lives. And I know my words are wasted like dust upon you. You will not know truth until you are dead......and then you will laugh and cry at how foolish and insignificant your lives were. Oh yes, and I almost forgot........God Bless Us Everyone!

The mission of Imam Hussain (pbuh) is distinctly unique, political and religious revolutionary movement in the history
of World. His was a tremendous undertaking which still reverberates throughout the Muslim nation. He has been a propellin
