I support Israel, and believe with all my heart that it is right to do so. The US is not so big and bad that we can't be swept into the pages of history, and become a fractured continent like the rest of the world. I too have empathy for the Palestinians, even as I remember that they voted Hamas into power. The problem with the pro-Palestinian news organizations (French TV, Al-Jazeerah, to name two) is they need conflict to sell the news. Look at the success of the tv shows, "Cops" and the real life confrontation hosted shows like Dr. Phil. People thrive on conflict, and can't get enough. The media knows this VERY well and anything they can do to foment conflict only sells the news. So, why is it we never hear about the Palestinian who hates violence and just wants to raise his family and live in peace with Israel? Is there no one? Not one? Maybe he's keeping his head down or Hamas will either press him into service, make him a suicide bomber, or outright execute him as a "collaborator".

Remember that the land taken was part of other nations, not Palestine, which surrounded Israel and were ready to attack. As the article states "... as Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip in the Six-Day War.". Surrounded by Egypt, Syria and Lebanon who swore Israel's destruction and swarmed the borders with troops and tanks, they were all ready to invade with help from the Russians (not that Russia publicly admitted this). Israel, with no backing from the US attacked first and fended off all 3 enemies, pushing them ALL back and taking land as a buffer zone. If those 3 nations hadn't sought the destruction of Israel (as Hamas now states they support as well), Israel would have had no reason (or desire) to take anything. In fact, most of the land taken from Egypt was returned as part of the treaty (despite the fact that in only a few days time, Israel had pounded Egpyt back across the Suez and could likely have taken the whole nation, if they desired to do so).

Exceptions for extra ordinary purposes can always be made. I would not want to issue this man a life insurance policy.

This is because of the concept that a Muslim cannot insult the Prophet Mohammed, or be subject to death at the hands of another Muslim. There is no "standard" of what constitutes an insult. The result will be, no self criticism, hence all the blame must rest on the shoulders of others, in this instance the Jews, or a nationality such as the US. If Muslims get critical of the Prophet Mohammed, they loose the basis of their religious belief, and hence their social structure. It would be akin to Christians pondering Christ as a carpenter and a real nice guy, but not as a god being. Christians went through the Reformation, which is something the Muslims need to consider, but they won't. They're into a lifestyle and thought style which doesn't include the western (scientific ) concept of time, and since the vast majority are denied education and economic wellbeing their future will be as their pasts. How any rational people could consider one a leader who hasn't shown up since 1967... and that was to leave, is beyond rational thought. Thus it looks like more decades ahead of no self criticism, and thus blame for all non Muslims.

Islam used to be a wonderful religion with many positive contributions (base 10 mathematics, advanced science & medicine during the Medival reign of Christianity stunting European advances in same, etc.). They claim they are against fanaticism, yet their own actions disprove this statement. Indeed, their own rules permit them to lie and break agreements and even violate their own rules when it is for the good of their religion (which their leaders easily manipulate for their own interests and any questioning of this is discredited and harshly punished as being anti-Islamic). 1) If Palestinians are so right and so persecuted, why won't even Hamas's own buddies Hezbollah help them out? Why won't any other Muslim nation help the "Palestinian plight"? Why is it always westerners like yourself that take their side when even other Muslims won't? Answer: They aren't right.

Tony, before you speak again, please- for your own sake and that of your descendants- take this to heart (from Martin Niemoller- there are several version, but any one of them will do).

Then let's not forget this fun fact (as other have mentioned and you have chosen to ignore because you are a sheeple): There is ONE Jewish state. There are MANY Christian and Muslim states. In the time of of the Jewish people, everyone likes to say "WWII, Nazi's" and point at them as being evil. Yet, I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to trace my own heritage. I cannot achieve anything earlier than the 1900's. Why? Because in Europe there was this practice called "Polgrams"- government approved mob riots against Jews. Governments, before the Nazis, actually APPROVED of killing Jews. They invited and encouraged Jews to move in, forbade them from owning land or holding political offices (so they couldn't farm or herd or be part of the government), then, when the Jews had established successful businesses and banks (because that's all that's left), the Government labelled the Jews as "greedy" and accused of stealing the wealth of the people, and encouraged mob violence against them Documentation, family trees, and the like were death sentances to your relatives. In a Ukranian town where part of my family came from, all that is left of the Jews is one synogague, hollowed out- a mere shell, and parts of a brick wall that surrounded the cemetary. The headstones are gone. Destroyed. Nothing left. History, documentation, lives. Gone. The christian cemetary next to it? Immaculately kept and maintained. My Point? At least there are a few places where Jews can live (more or less) in peace. Why do you wish one less?

Those pogroms were done by Europeans ! Yet you want to come to Palestine and do the same thing to them. If your family is from the Ukraine-then they have no right to displace native Palestinians ! The founders of Israel and zionism were all atheist ; Herzl, Max Nordau, Zeev Jabotinsky-;Ben-Gurion, Moshe Dayan, Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin etc. Zionist deny the Torah. You misquote me-Not all in Israel are atheist, Palestinians being Muslim & Christian, Druze, Sammaritans, Orthodox Jews etc. Many Orthodox Jews protest Israel's actions on a regular basis-Satmars, Nutrei Karta, and other Orthodox Jews. No Palestinian has any trouble with the last three groups of Jews. This is proof that all can live in peace in one nation. And what right does the UN have to make it a 2 state land, which gives Israel the coast, water while landlocking the Palestinians ? One state will end war and promote unity and peace !

Jews are native to Israel. As for Palestinians, they only ended up displaced because they tried to displace Jews, they could've lived just fine together, if it weren't for Palestinian intolerance.

"One state will end war and promote unity and peace !" - sure, Arab majority will elect Hamas into government declare open Jew-hunting season, then once the land is judenfree, there will be peace. I see how you would like that, but for Jews it would kind of suck.
