People walk past a beached whale in the Breezy Point neighborhood on Dec. 26, 2012 in the Queens borough of New York City. Breezy Point was especially hard hit by Superstorm Sandy. Rescuers believe the whale will not be able to be saved.
Updated Dec. 27: Marine officials said the whale has died.
WNBC reports:
A 60-foot-long finback whale was discovered beached Wednesday morning along Jamaica Bay in Breezy Point, Queens.
"It's an animal that is severely emaciated," said Rob DiGiovanni, Executive Director of the Riverhead Foundation. "It is severely underweight. The outcome does not look good.”

A lot of people standing around doing nothing. Either put the animal down or try to save this whales life. Throwing a bucket of water occassionaly on this whale is a small effort.
This whale is sick, I doubt the whale lost all its wait being beached. Even if they get it off the beach, it will probably end up right back on it. Poor thing.
I've read that whales, on the average, weigh about about 1 ton per foot. Don't know if that applies to all types. Which means this whale might weigh 60 tons, when healthy. It's emaciated, cut that in half to 30 tons. Not an easy project to tackle.
feed the poor with it.
there's nothing to feed them with. the whale is thin. we can see its ribcage: no meat, no fat.
She's done. Only thing to do is figure out what went wrong for this whale and use it to help others.
Screw that there is enough to feed some people. Figure out how to get more to wash up and we can feed a whole bunch of people. Oh yeah almost forgot, its all Bushes fault.
