Police thwarted an attempt by activists on Thursday to rekindle mass protests in New Delhi over the Dec. 16 gang rape and ferocious beating of a young woman, after the victim was airlifted to Singapore for specialist hospital care to save her life.
Activists who gathered on Thursday for a fresh march on India Gate were stopped by police in riot gear armed with tear gas and water cannons to hold them back.
"We will win back our freedom!" the protesters, mostly university students, shouted as they pushed against barricades on a road leading to the city's landmark monument. Unable to make further headway, the crowd dispersed as night fell.
New Delhi has the highest number of sex attacks among India's major cities, with a rape reported on average every 18 hours, according to the National Crimes Records Bureau.

Gang rapes also happen in the U.S., in the military, at West Point and wherever men and women are together. Men haven't been taught to control their impulses. The old men argument, she asked for it, doesn't fly anymore, except maybe in Akin and Mourdock territory, and maybe Santorum's.
Earthgirl - stick to the precise article and the country at task without tangent or tantrum. Think about the seriousness of the issue and the 15 lousy comments/a kitten gets abused and within hours there are 4,000+ outraged individuals making comments.
The "boys will be boys" attitude won't be allowed to be used like it is here in America. Mothers, ALL mothers, NEED to teach their boys to respectfully treat women. Hanging these @!$%#s is too good for them. It's too quick. They need to be beaten, ravaged, striped and thrown off a moving bus into the arms of an angry mob. Then hanged.
The Indian government continues its pathetic litany of promises to, plans to, proposes etc. while the whole word watches in disbelief at its ineptitude. Just do it!
My sincere request to the Indian Government is to acknowledge honestly that Delhi is the RAPE CAPITOL OF THE WORD; statistics says every 18 hrs one woman gets raped in Delhi( according Indian News media research); display every important corner of the city a banner displaying " WOMEN! YOU ARE ENTERING THE LAND OF RAPISTS AT YOUR OWN RISK ". So people can take some precautions like avoiding the POLICE, BUS DRIVERS and CONDUCTORS who are the culprits in most of the cases. This is truly my experience and word of the street in Delhi when I lived there for 4 years.
So people (women) can take precautions..... NO !! I want the SAME freedom men have of going where they want, dressing as they want without the fear of rape.
Men are so gross. Not only in that country. They just want to slang their dang-a-lang where-ever they see fit. Just makes me sick. They should have acid poured on them from the waist down. Women get it in their faces so they won't appear to be attractive any longer. So, no more sex for the guys, or maybe the sheep wont mind.
Let us pray for the victim, for her recovery and comfort. The offenders won't escape God's judgment.
The victim died. Condolences to her family and to the women of India. Stay strong and make your voices heard.
I do not think the protesters of this situation will be a violent one as they are rallying for justice and more protection for their women. If I were one of those police officers, I will even join the rally and lead a peaceful one. Our heart goes to the victim and her family. Pray for them.
As a rape survivor I can tell even if God help her and is able to live, even if her scars don't show anymore .. this lives with you from that moment on ...
What is it? Do they not came from a mother? do they not have sisters? This sweet soul is a some man sister's, daughther's and (lets pray and hope) one day she will be a mom.
My prayers goes to them, and to the ones who think can get away with it, may the Lord forgive them. I know the day they face Him won't be pretty, even if they try.
AN EYE FOR AN EYE !!!
They should be punished with the same iron rod that was used on the victim (probably a wheel nut wrench). The iron rod will be forced through their ass until it punch holes in their organs (liver, kidney...) then they will be kicked off a moving bus and let them bleed to death or the protesters can beat them to death.
THE PUNISHMENT MUST BE EQUAL OR EXCEED THE CRIME TO STOP CRIME. At the very least, it will stop these animals from committing another crime.

Girls has died in Singapore.....Indian Nonsense politician should suffer this incedence with their family member, this cold blooded evils dont have any mercy for anybody except their benefits..They support all this crime and Indian Law are just worse then Somalia.... What max rapist will get 14 years prison after 15 years of trial ?

I would hope that they will use their talents to find and prosecute these men. Does India hava a death penalty? This would be a good place to apply it.
This Young Lady will not have died in vain -She deserved a life of hope - joy and love .She faught and therefor we know her - that is an Honor and a life lived with integrety ! To her Family I offer my heart and my love as a Thank You ! For waking Us - we needed that - or this could not have happened ....
If crime against women in India is that rampant they should be taught how to use a gun, arm themselves, and shoot to kill when their lives are in danger. Men will think twice before committing a violent crime against women if they know she is carrying. Watch those statistics drop... If women aren't being protected by this government they must learn to protect themselves.
I'm not opposed to the idea of "do justice" if my idea won't fly.
Police are not ARMED to TEETH in India like in USA. Whether the medical student was Hindu or Judea Christian Muslim or Sikh-ALL females must be protected. Hindus are NOT Pakis.

So basically the Indian government is saying it is not okay to protest rape but it is okay to rape!?!? The Indian government turning their head in silence until this attack speaks more than any words could ever say!
