Israeli-Palestinian conflict plays out in a rocky field

Majdi Mohammed / AP

Surrounded by Israeli border police, Jewish settlers from the Esh Kodesh settlement outpost sit in a field in an attempt to prevent Palestinians from farming land in the northern West Bank, on Jan. 2. Both the settlers and Palestinians living in the area claim ownership of the disputed land.

Reports state that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas insists that talks cannot proceed without a construction freeze on Israeli West Bank settlements, a precondition that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects.

25% unemployment, wrecked economy forever, no medical-dental-ancillary services, high cost of living, reduced FICA services, crappy education (where all jobs are reserved mostly for CHOSEN women who make up 90% of all teachers), wrecked economy, hunger, no replacement of crumbling infra and super structures, unfunded deficits and obligations at all levels of government ($500 trillion) service debts that are coming out of GENTILE ears, NO conversion to the better Metric system, taxes that caused tsunamis of poverty, despair, homelessness, loss of homes, hunger in the erstwhile bread basket of the world, wanton destruction of US family structure, invasions of privacy in the name of ‘National Security’, near-total depletion of US natural resources, pollution, 150,000/year deaths by profit-minded dorktors, MRSA, Oxycontin, addictive drugs, global warming that causes weather related disasters etc!! The ‘appointed’ CHOSEN moron executives INTENTIONALLY make all products and parts expensive to replace. Most citizens can’t afford a jalopy to get to work! At every level we are conspiratorially robbed by the ETHNIC legal, judicial and executive thieves so that they lord it over us! This financial mess was caused by the CHOSEN of WAIL Str. None were jailed! Instead, the remaining Gentile money is dutifully collected and given to Jews of Chosen Israel by the SLAVE US Imperial Military: at least $100 billion in Stealth bombers, Iron Dome missiles and weaponry last year alone! Enough!

Nothing. John's just one of those paid posters who cut'n'pasted to the wrong article. They're easy enough to spot. Using "real" names and buzz words usually associated with the Middle East or occasionally American politics, and an attempt to sound like they've researched their claims with numbers and lists of injustices. This particular one seems to be into caps lock as well.

The problems are not the settlements. Israel has removed settlements and has had freezes. The problem is that the Palestinians blew it in 1948 when they rejected their own state through partition. In 2013 they are still blowing it by wanting to destroy a sovereign country and wanting to kill all its inhabitants. These are crimes against the peace and aganist humianity.Accept Israel and make this area a genuine 3 religion area.Unfortunately the Muslims mostly want to make it a one religion area and get rid of the Jews and Christians. No way José! If any religion should leave the area it´s the Muslims who conquered it by the sword and committed horrible crimes with forced conversions or death. The Christians and Jews were there way before the Muslims. If they don´t believe in pluralistic societies they will continue to be a plague on the planet. They might have 1 billion or more but the rest ofthe world has 3 billion or more.Israel is a rocky place because Muslims want to dominate or kill the infidels.Until they stop acting like Mafia creeps, they should be treated withot mercy!

The Israeli army should back off in this encounter.

Just let the farmers and settlers have at it with sticks and stones. Last one standing wins the land. Problem solved.

Israel was on the map centuries before anyone came up with the concept of UN.

They were destroyed, granted, but they recreated themselves no matter how hard various regimes tried to prevent it.

No, UN did not recreate Israel either, they merely announced that they are OK with Israel's recreation, that's all.

And UN certainly can not destroy Israel. UN is working hard enough to preserve their own existence.

If US ever cuts the cash to UN, UN will seize to exist.

If I am not mistaken, some years ago Israeli bulldozer killed a US citizen who was protesting the demolition of Palestinian homes to make way for Israeli settlers.

Israeli courts ruled recently that it was Rachel Corie's (RIP) fault to stand in the way of bulldozer. That poor courageous girl stood up to aggression, injustice.

So, what would happen if a Palestinian farmer's tractor kills a settler?

If the Palestinian Farmer's tractor kills the settler, then the Palestinian is labelled a terrorist and sent to jail (assuming he is not shot to death by an eager IDF soldier on the spot), his home and those of his relatives are destroyed, his land and any assets are "confiscated", and best of all, in that area will be built a new settlement with hundreds of round the clock IDF soldiers to protect them and make sure no Palestinian farmer can terrorize the settlers again!

Most of the democrats, republicans managed to compromise on principles so that 98% of the population is not screwed by higher taxes.

But there were a few, for example Rep Majority leader Cantor, stood ground defending to protect the 2% high earners, while screwing ordinary Americans in the process.

          Go figure.

          I think there are couple reasons for that Ms Kash;

          - Israel is currently getting ready for elections, so they do not have time to stir up trouble with neighbors and harassing Palestinians

          - Recent recognition of Palestinian state at UN made Israelis to tone down its bully behaviour. I am sure Israel is not schocked by UN vote, but disappointed big time.

          - US election results were not in line with Israeli expectations. Israel realized that majority of US voters and politicians do not want to "date" Israelis. It was almost a slap in the face.

          - There were so many fraud/corruption issues in the last couple months in Israel, they must be busy sorting out who "dinged" who.

          - Media usually puts out good stories for Israel. So, in the absence of no good news, do not mention it at all.

            #18.1 - Thu Jan 3, 2013 12:25 PM EST

Or may be Hamas is down from the major wooping they got from Israel, so Palestinian terrorist are licking their wounds for a while.

So, Israel can enjoy relatively peaceful existence until Hamas gets new funding and blows something up again, then they can get another wooping and claim that they are bullied a harassed once again.

Settlers living in land that the World recognizes as part of Palestine are claiming that more land should be given to them and starve the Palestinians who have been farming that land for decades?

Am I getting this right? And anyone who opposes letting these "settlers" claim this land is an Anti-Semite??

I will listen to the responses but I know they will all be the same nonsense. This whole situation is a complete shame and It's sad that the United States and their creedy Political System driven by these various lobbyists groups have completely distroyed not only the credibility of the US but also any hope of there ever being Peace in that region. No, you are not getting this right.

            1) The territory is still disputed. There is no set agreement on whose land this is.

            2) The "Palestinians who have been farming that land for decades" got there by banishing the Jews who lived there before them for centuries.

            3) The pictures show the Israeli army dragging the settlers out of the way, because most of Israel are willing to give up the claims for most of that land for the sake of peace. One would think you would consider that a good thing.

The problem is that the 1947 partition plan was not implemented by the Palestinians. The result was plots of land that were not of any UN recognized nation. When the Arabs attacked Israel in 1948, they did so from a non state area. The end of the 1948 war was a truce, NOT a peace treaty. The 1967 war took place during a truce. Because there has been no UN recognized nation of Palestine, the situation is best described legally as disputed territory. The goal is to divide up the disputed area so that Israel has enough for security and the Palestinians have enough to exist as a viable nation.

The 1967 War Liberty incident was the result of Israeli Army officers insisting and getting something attacked to deal with what they wrongly perceived to be a naval bombardment by Egypt . The Israeli pilots were misled about the Liberty, which had earlier been confirmed, by other Israeli pilots to be a USN ship of no concern to Israel. The Israeli combat status board which correctly showed the status of the Liberty was erased completely by an over eager soldier who wanted to reduce the clutter on the board. He failed to not only rewrite the Liberty's status, but left out other critical information. The result was even more chaos and confusion among Israeli forces, already confused about where bombardments were coming from. Combine this with an over eager Israeli navy trying to prove itself and you get unwarranted attacks on several "targets", that were not doing any shooting at the Israelis. Fog of War stuff. The US has shot down its own helicopters and aircraft in the last 20 years, while possessing highly capable IFF equipment. We have had US Army units shoot at each other during conflicts.

As much as I can't stand the murderous Palestinians, the settlers really are nuts. And what is weird is that the nuttier they are, the more likely they are from the US. For some reason, whenever one of the more extreme settlers is interviewed on TV, they are always originally from Ohio or something.

What is referred to today as the "West Bank" is actually ancient Judea and Samaria, land belonging to the Jewish people since ancient times!

If Israel is to give away any of their ancient land to the "Palestinians" (which is an invented name labelled on people who are totally indistinguishable from all of the other Arabs living in the Middle East), then the "Palestinians" must come to the negotiating table without preconditions and work out a treaty with the Israelis which would result in 2 separate and independent states as agreed to by both sides.

There are radicals everywhere. Neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians had any claim to any of that land before the creation of Israel in 1947. Now they both want everything, and the Palestinians believe that violence is justified because they're greedy bastards, and Israel believes violence is justified because they are being attacked by the Palestinians. Arabs hate everyone, especially other Arabs.

Here's an idea....Give them 2/3/4 years to prepare....each side trains and puts up 100/500/1000 people.....and on a specified date and time they meet and battle hand to hand combat. Last person standing alive....wins. That is who claims the land currently labeled Israel.

Televise it for the whole world to see. If they don't abide afterwords destroy the entire area.

These folks need to understand that the world is fed up with their antics. Get along or go away.

It would never happen because BOTH side want it exactly as it is. It's a 3 thousand year old war that will never go away until one side or the other is vanquished utterly.

The Jewish people should have been given a nice big chunk of Germany after WWII as a "Homeland". Maybe we wouldn't be having the never ending problems with this tiny little area of disputed land...

              No easy answers.

Sounds like somebody has seen "Hunger Games" one too many times.

Back in the middle ages good Christians would occasionally try to settle their differences with Jews in an even more civilized way, a fare debate. The outcome would always be the same: the Jews would win, but the Christians would have all the Jews in their country banished or slaughtered any way.

If your gladiator battle was tried out, I would expect exact same result: Israel would win, but the rest of the world would pretend like it never happened.

                So, thanks, but no thanks.

Nor would giving the Jews a chunk of Germany would help, nor would it help to give Jews a chunk of Spain as an apology for inquisition, or a chunk of Russia as an apology for the pogroms.

Jewish state belongs in Judea, sooner the world accepts it - sooner there will be peace.

EXACTLY why there will never be Peace in that area of the world.
