A robot prepares 'jiaozi', or Chinese dumplings.

A robot that specializes in delivering food holds an empty tray after serving meals to customers at a Robot Restaurant in Harbin, China, Jan. 12. Opened in June 2012, the restaurant has gained fame for using a total of 20 robots, which range in height from 1.3 to 1.6 meters (4.2 feet to 5.2 feet), to cook meals and deliver dishes. The robots can work continuously for five hours after a two-hour charge, and are able to display more than 10 expressions on their faces and say basic welcoming sentences to customers.

Please explain to me in a country of 1.2 billion people with millions working for a buck a day why you would need robots? Looks to me like an answer where there was not question.

Don't worry, this looks more like a publicity stunt than outsourcing.

In general, human help is still much cheaper, so the majority of employees will remain human.

They will make just enough of those robots to attract attention.

Restaurant staff may be a bit more difficult to replace, but I doubt there will be many if indeed any supermarket checkers in 20 years. What does RFID stand for anyway?

I find Obama and his disdain of small business obnoxious as with socialism, but in the end what are we to do with all the unnecessary people?

I would love to have a robot at home to do the cooking. After being on my feet doing cleaning jobs most of the day it would be so nice to have dinner waiting for me when I get home.

I would much rather have a human waitress/waiter. This seems much too impersonal to me and with people out there who need jobs, it kind of turns my stomach. Not cute.
