Reuters reports — A cleaning lady allegedly stole a Swedish train and drove it off the end of the tracks and smashed into a house outside Stockholm on Tuesday.
It was not clear how the woman, around 20, got access to the key needed to start the train. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but the train was carrying no other passengers as it was in the early hours and no one in the house was hurt.
A train cleaner was injured after police say she stole a train and crashed it into a house in Sweden. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.
"The cleaner drove the train at high speed, considerably higher than normal on that stretch, to where the rails end and crashed into a house," said Jesper Pettersson, spokesman at Stockholm Public Transport (SL).
The train ploughed past the end of the line and vaulted over a street separating the house from the depot, crashing through a balcony and into a downstairs room in the upscale suburb of Saltsjobaden. SL and police were investigating how she had gained access to the cabin and been able to drive the train.

They didn't have to build the house that close to the tracks, it says she went past the end of the track over a road actually through the air at least over the road before she hit the house.
Thomas the Train is in mourning.
She was not being a "useful" engine. That's for sure!
Must have saw a short cut.
I somehow have to stop laughing at these posts.
Where is the world outcry about the heathens in Sweden who allow trains to be legal?
I'd love to see the insurance agent's face when that call comes in.
Reuters, you need to get better reporters. I seriously doubt if she "stole" the train. It's not like she thought it would become her's and nobody would find out...maybe hide it at home. She was probably just was messing around with the controls, got it going, and couldn't stop it. That's a little different than stealing it.
These assualt trains are a danger to houses everywhere, and the NRA,(National Railroad Assc.) is letting just anybody have a train with no backround check.
Is she just the patsy....Hmmmmmm Could it have been that the engineer was on board trying to impress her and getting his whistle "blown" when the controls were accidentally engaged, and he bailed… HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Kind of gives new meaning to the phrase, "Living on the wrong side of the tracks!"
DUH! Did the house have the "Right-of-Way"?
This stunt was a train-wreck waiting to happen....
A "cleaning lady"? Does this "cleaning lady" have a name and country of origin?
New meaning to looks like someone drove a train through this house.
Drivin' that train; High on cocaine; Casey Jones you better; Watch yo' speed!
guess she didnt learn the ''how to drive a train'' part of her cleaning course. She was probably texting on her phone during that part.
Does their constitution include the right to bare trains?
No...their Trains need to be covered..
Now,WHO leaves the keys in their train? I DON"T!
No. The trains must be properly clothed.
What a shame, because that looks like it was a really nice house. Except it was in the wrong spot. The builders should have thought of that, after all, you never know when a higher-than-a-kite, brain-addled, thrill seeking crazy cleaning lady is going to drive a train into it.
I bet when the lady wakes up she says: "Well, the last thing I remember was dusting off this control panel looking thing...."
All of the above is so funny, I can hardly add my comment: Was she young enough to wear a 'training' bra?
OK, too many posters are derailing the topic.
how can it be??? i cant believe it???? a crime committed and no gun used???? if this happened in the USA the illegal alien muslim moron would outlaw trains???????
Can you guys post anywhere without turning it into an opportunity to spout something nasty? Give it a rest.
