Thousands of anti-abortion demonstrators are marching through Washington to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court to protest the landmark decision that legalized abortion.
Crowds held signs and chanted Friday on the National Mall and surrounding streets for the March for Life.
The demonstration this year coincides with the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that created a constitutional right to abortion. Earlier this week, opponents marked the anniversary with workshops, prayers and calls for more limits on abortion rights.
Among the speakers was former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum. He says the country responded with love to the struggles of his daughter, Bella, who was born with a serious genetic condition. He said the family is better off for having Bella in their lives.

Hey, I looked and looked at that picture but I couldn't find the guy's uterus anywhere. So, he thinks he has real 'skin' in this argument....WHY?
You would rather he was like so many men, who are happy to have their way, and then pressure their girlfriend to "solve this problem" as he beats foot for the door...It takes GUTS to be a real man. A man who steps up to the plate, even if he messed up.

My niece got pregnant by a guy who wanted her to have an abortion. She refused and now has a beautiful daughter. His mother wanted my great niece in her life so she had him petition for joint custody, which he got. For a while he was paying child support. Now he has married and has a child with this woman and doesn't feel he can afford to support my great niece but still wants to see her occassionaly because his mother wants to see her. He is a joke of a father. Fellows, if you don't want a child, use protection or sustain from having sex. It's your sperm that causes the pregnancy.
I'm happy your daughter kept the baby! But to act like the guy is the sole reason she got pregnant is a little ridiculous. No offense, but I am sure she agreed to have sex with him. That decision was made by BOTH parties. If not, its called rape and you should look into pressing charges. Here is an idea. Don't want to have a kid? Don't mess around. For everything we choose to do, there is a consequence. She choose to have sex, opening up to the chance of her getting pregnant. As for the father of that child, you are right! He should man up and take responsibly for his actions. Asking her to get an abortion is not right. For a country where we fight for equal rights, the pro-abortion groups love to point fingers at men for all of their problems.

What I find so intolerable is late term abortions. Babies can live as early as six months, they don't need to be full term to live. If a baby can survive outside the womb, to me that is murder.

So, my question to all of those who are anti-choice - Would you adopt the child whose mother ended up in a corrections facility and did drugs through her entire pregnancy? - Would you adopt the child of a mentally ill woman, who has been pregnant multiple times, and does not have the skill to take care of a child? I would like to see, all the people who are against abortion, step up and adopt all of these children who come from troubled backgrounds. I have spent my life working with the mentally ill, drug addicts, criminals and other forgotten people in this society. If you are so hell bent on preventing women with the right to chose, then you need to take care of the outcome, which are thousands of unwanted children. It really appears that you care more for the unborn than you do for the unwanted babies!!!
I would like to know what amendment covers choice? DO we not have a choice in the matter? People are screaming about the Second Amendment and people are shot every day no one cares ~ a women makes a personal choice and everyone is involved. Peope scream about ending a life and will not take care of the elderly locked away in nursing homes. Babies left on the street or abused because the mother/father did not want them. Where are the people marching for those injustices? A man can rape a women and then ask for visitation rights? PLEASE who wants their kid exposed to that scum..A drunk driver snuffs out a life and get two years in prison? Who cares about that life that was taken...A fetus who has not even started to develope and everyone is in tears and trying to save a life... GO FIGURE...

ABORTION ECONOMICS 101:
If Roe v Wade were repealed the annual cost to the taxpayer is $1.3 trillion. And that's not counting the cost of building the orphanages it will take to house the unwanted children that were formerly unwanted pregnancies (see below for the total $12.4 trillion 18 year cost.) They'll need a roof. Foster Care is already overloaded.
In Mexico, the Philippines, India and Brasil abortion's illegal or strictly controlled and hoardes of abandoned kids roam the streets begging, stealing, prostituting, drug dealing. Is this what we want for America?
Unwanted pregnancies become unwanted children. You can't legislate the desire to have a child; so the unwanteds will be handed over to the state. Or they'll be shuffled around and mistreated and eventually end up in an orphanage or foster care or juvenile detention.
Criminalizing abortion is not saving lives; it's depriving unwanted children of their birthright, the primal love of devoted parents, condemning them to self-doubt and despair.
Loving parents are foundational to a strong society. Forcing women to have unwanted children is no way to get there.
The total total tab, counting what it costs to build the 360,000 orphanages required to house the 25.2 million unwanted children, is $12.4 trillion over the first 18 years. (The average orphanage that houses 70 kids will cost about $1.3 million.)
The data:

d. Annual cost per child $50,000
e. Annual budget (c*d) $1,260,000,000,000
That's right, $1.3 trillion a year, every year, without counting capital costs, crime and other social costs.
Christmas and Roe v Wade:
Being born is only a small fraction in the equation of life. What matters is the first eighteen years that come afterward, the foundation for all that follows.
Picture a puppy being dragged its cage in an animal shelter and ponder what happens to unwanted children.
There are over 250,000 children in foster care and orphanages in the United States today. California alone has 80,000. It's a myth that there are ample qualified parents waiting to adopt.
Adoptive parents are picky. They want one that's fresh and clean and perfect, even if they have to spend thousands and fly overseas to find it.
There were 1.4 million abortions in the US last year. Criminalize abortion and the resulting surge in births will grow into a population of orphans for the state to raise. Unwanted pregnancies become unwanted children.
Who will love the boy or girl when its biological parents walk away? What kind of childhood will they have? Who will teach them to ride a bike or throw a ball? What will birthdays and Christmases be like? Who will cheer for them at report card time, at sports events or the school play?
A foster child will never know what it means to come home for the holidays. Home is where family is, where your things are, where you are loved.
When a foster child sits down to a meal he or she is a boarder whose rent is paid by the state. It's a second-class scenario at best, robbing the child of self-esteem. What kind of adulthood do you think lies ahead for one who was cast-off as a child?
Do you care? Should you care? Where do you think the majority of our prison population comes from?
On Christmas Day after the gifts have been unwrapped and you sit down to feast on turkey and cranberry sauce, think about the picture of the puppy being dragged to his cage. You don't have to dwell on it. Just give it a moment.
And remember that being born is the starting point for a lifetime of consequences.
