The value of daylight-saving time has been disputed for generations. Proponents argue that it saves energy and promotes outdoor activities during summer evenings. Urban workers, retail shop owners and tourism businesses tend to favor DST.
Opponents say the actual energy savings are inconclusive and negligible due to modern energy consumption patterns. Many also argue that DST disrupts morning activities, and the complexities involved with changing clocks twice a year is socially and economically disruptive. Groups who dislike DST are evening entertainment businesses, farmers, transportation companies and organizations that work across multiple time zones.

I hate time changes, especially going from daylight saving time into standard time. It is hard getting used to the change - mostly in the evening when it seems mush later than it actually is. Also, it isn't fun getting up in the dark to go to work or start your day and then driving home in the dark, too. You feel as though you have been robbed, not being able to enjoy your "day". I'd be happy if we could just keep daylight saving time.
Daylight savings time changes do seem a tad unnecessary in today's urban culture, at least in the U.S., where nightlife still goes on no matter the time. We are a culture that does not rely very much on the sun anymore, and those who do -- such as farmers and international companies -- seem to be more inconvenienced than helped.
Idea: the next date we're supposed to have a time change, change it only 1/2 hour -- and then leave it alone for good! I'm one of those who have to get up & go to work in the dark most of the year anyway, & I work in a windowless office, so any sun I can get after work is much appreciated!
I agree! I feel like daylight savings time makes it so much harder to function. There is a sense of being robbed of time! Like this morning, I woke up and it was still dark outside! I get up rely, but it's usually at least a little lighter outside. I feel as if I don't get as much sleep even if in reality I do. However, I do like that it is light longer in the evenings because I feel like I can work later and be more productive. It's nice to be done with my day and then still have some daylight left to do more.
Where did daylight savings come from any way? Why do we have it? I feel like it is very unnecessary, especially in our day and age when there isn't much you can do to make people save energy. Most will use the electricity no matter what.
