South Africa members of the Shembe faith (Nazareth Baptist Church), a religious hybrid of Christianity and African traditions, gather for a service on the Nhlangakazi Mountain during their annual pilgrimage near Inanda, north of Durban, January 13, 2007. Shembe is the fourth successor to Isaiah Shembe, a Zulu healer who formed the church a century ago to infuse African tribalism into Christianity brought over by Western missionaries. The pilgrims will spend two weeks on the mountain praying and dancing.

I'm struck by the subtle color variation of the different white sheets, and by how solidly the single face in the foreground anchors this composition.

MIAMI GARDENS, FL - FEBRUARY 04: Prince performs during the "Pepsi Halftime Show" at Super Bowl XLI between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears on February 4, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

I was watching the Super Bowl that night and just praying that someone shot this picture. As soon as I saw Prince take the stage I knew it was going to be incredible, I just was hoping someone shot this picture because it was a perfect opportunity. Purple Rain, I love Prince.

    How could anyone do this?

U.S. Marines storm a house while on a search operation for insurgents in Ramadi, Iraq. Buildings near the Government Center were destroyed by U.S. troops to deprive insurgents of shooting positions.

Urban night fighting looks pretty frightening.

A U.S. Marine guards an Iraqi mother and children while other Marines interrogate the father. The Marines are on a search operation for insurgents on of Feb. 1 in Ramadi, Iraq.

I continue to feel more and more uncomfortable as I see pictures of situations like this come out of Iraq.

A Palestinian youth runs in front of a burning building at the al-Quds open university after it was attacked by gunmen in Gaza January 2, 2007. Fighting between Palestinian factions escalated across Gaza on Friday.

The ability of still photography to capture a heightened moment has always been interesting to me. The running man at the bottom of this picture contributes a lot of tension to the frame. I would have looked right past it if the runner wasn't there.

A young Hindu devotee takes a shower before starting his pilgrimage to the sacred Batu Caves temple during Thaipusam festival in Kuala Lumpur on January 31, 2007. Thousands of Hindus participate in the annual Hindu thanksgiving festival, in which devotees subject themselves to painful rituals in a demonstration of faith and penance, held in honour of Lord Subramaniam.

I love this photo. You can almost feel it. It doesn't even matter where this person is or what he is doing, it just looks cool.

Etwari Ravi Das, suffering from leprosy, waits for treatment inside a clinic in the north eastern Indian city of Siliguri January 29, 2007.

I was first drawn to this picture due to the expression on this persons face, it is a haunting look. After exploring the picture some more and reading the caption, I was drawn in further due to the fact that this person suffered from leprosy. I wasnt aware of the fact that leprosy was an issue in this day and time. I think this is a testament to how powerful pictures can be because they will pull us in emotionally and get a chance to inform us of issues that otherwise might have gone unnoticed.

What was the mother of this baby eating while pregnant? Woa, that's a big baby.
