A campaign sign appears in the womens rest room of Anderson Arena on the campus of Bowling Green University after a rally there by Republican vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in Bowling Green, Ohio, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008.

No matter where you go, you just can't hide from this election. I'm betting you can come up with some great captions for this off-the-trail campaign photo.

A woman protects herself from rain under an umbrella on the beach side in Nice, southern France, October 29, 2008.

I think this photo is a good example of making something out of nothing. Weather features are not easy to make visually interesting, but this photographer did a great job.

A Chinese farmer prepares to throw a bundle of rice at the 6th National Peasants Games in the city of Quanzhou on October 28, 2008. There's also tire-pushing, in which contestants roll big truck tires down a track, a tug-of-war, and pond fishing.

The thrill of victory. The agony of defeat. The tossing of the rice. I love sports.

A vendor strings marigold flower garlands while waiting for customers on the eve of the Hindu festival of Diwali in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad October 27, 2008. Flowers are offered to Hindu Goddess Laxmi on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.

Although it may take this gentleman all day to string this pile of flowers, he sure has a great view from where he is sitting.

Splinters of ice peel off from one of the sides of the Perito Moreno glacier during the southern hemisphere's winter months, near the city of El Calafate in southern Argentina, in this July 7, 2008 file photo. Dumping iron dust in the seas or placing smoke and mirrors in the sky to dim the sun could help a world struggling to curb global warming, according to backers of extreme technologies.

Although odd, it's obvious to me how smoke and mirrors made it into the proposal, but dumping iron dust into the ocean? Would that decrease the water's reflectivity? Seems as though the fish might not appreciate it.

Matilda Molina, 4, dressed as a bride, sits on a bench with Tequila, a Chihuahua dressed as a chicken, left, and Lucky, a pit mix dressed as a groom, during the 18th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade canine costume contest Sunday Oct. 26, 2008 in New York. Molina and Lucky competed together as a non-traditional couple.

Well, I guess the economy isn't too bad if people still feel like they can shell out for dog costumes.

Members of the Samaritan sect parade the Torah scroll as they take part in a pilgrimage for the holy day of the Tabernacles or Sukkot, in Mount Gerizim near the West Bank town of Nablus, October 13, 2008.

I like the way Yannis used a slow shutter speed here. I feel like Im seeing pilgrimages from years past overlayed onto the present.

A Kosovo Albanian man drives a tractor filled with corn husks next to one loaded with wood in preparation for winter in the village of Kosare, some 22 kilometres (15 miles) from Kosovo's capital Pristina, October 22, 2008.

Another edition of my semi-occasional series of unusual load pictures. It kind of looks like two porcupines meeting up.

A man stands in the artwork "Seurat, not Monet" by American artist Dan Graham and set up in the Tuileries Gardens as part of the Fiac 2008, the International Contemporary Art Fair, Thursday, Oct. 23, in Paris.

You've got a pretty good bus stop if you put a roof on it. I like what the light does on the floor.

European Central bank Governor Jean-Claude Trichet attends a joint news conference following a summit to discuss the international financial crisis at the Elysee Palace, October 4, 2008.

Presumably this is a serious event - I could speculate that he's shielding his eyes from the glare of the lights, perhaps trying to spot someone in the crowd, but really, I've no idea what he's doing or why.

Does anybody know the significance of a goat to the Spanish Legion?

Samer el Nahhal, bassist of Finnish band 'Lordi' performs on stage during the band's concert at the club 'K17' in Berlin, Germany, 10 October 2008.The band presented their new costumes and their album 'Deadache' that is due to be relaesed 24 October 2008.

Is this simply the same idea KISS had, taken further?

The head office of Dutch financial group ING is seen in Amsterdam. The company is in talks with the Dutch government about a state-backed cash injection estimated at 9 billion Euros, the Sunday Times reported.

A striking addition to the landscape, I thought.

Meirav Stardinner receives a snake massage from Ada Barak at Barak's snake spa on September 11, 2008 in Talmei Elazar, Israel. "One old lady said it was soothing, like a cold compress." Now she uses a combination of big snakes for deep massage and little ones for light massage.

Sure looks relaxing! With their soft, hairy little feet, seems like tarantulas would be a natural addition to her spa offerings.

A scene titled "Chicken Nuggets" from artist Banksy's new installation "The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill" is seen October 8, 2008 in New York City. The "pet store" features an animatronic leopard, monkey, chicken nuggets and hot dogs along with other creations.

I can imagine a vast flock of chicken nuggets roaming across the landscape only to be herded into a massive deep-fryer.

A Yemeni player serves during the Pool C match between Indonesia and Yemen in the Beach Volleyball competition on day three of the 2008 Asian Beach Games at Sanur Beach on October 20, 2008 in Bali, Indonesia.

I like how the shadow fills in what the photo crop cuts off. Nice shot.

David Chameides is collecting all the trash he generates in a year in his home in Los Angeles in October 2008. Anti-global warming zealots go to extreme measures to minimize their carbon footprints. They watch electric meters the way anorexics obsess over scales. They bike long distances to avoid driving or mass transit, recycle positively everything, eschew heating and air conditioning and avoid air travel.

While, I appreciate and admire his efforts, let's hope this guy either has a large house or doesn't generate that much trash. Things could get stinky.

A Japanese student in a school uniform walks past a luxury brand store in a Tokyo shopping district in this June 27, 2008 file photo. As Japan's economy heads towards recession and its stock market hovers around a 5-year-low, shoppers are closing their wallets, and the impact on European fashion houses has been dramatic.

I like it that this image makes you look twice.

Oct 17, 2008 - Dubai, U.A.E. - Two different styles of beach wear meet on a beach in Dubai.

All I can think about is how hot it must be to be covered from head to toe in black on the beach. Ugh.

Former Lehman Chief Executive Richard Fuld testifies at a hearing held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Capitol Hill in Washington on October 6, 2008. No one expects a fallen Master of the Universe to say sorry. But academics say an apology -- for all the litigation risk it entails -- can be the basis of revitalised confidence and trust.

This man did not look happy to be testifying. In fact I can just about see the steam coming out of his ears in this picture.

A woman rides a tricycle bearing a newly purchased couch along a main road in central Beijing October 14, 2008.

I often see photos of huge, and at times, awkward loads that people will pile on bikes in the developing world -- but I think this one takes the cake.

There are often times when I, and many of the editors, feel that photographing an art installation is sort of "cheating" because it's such a controlled environment, but this piece is very striking, and plays of the background, the clouds and the time of day perfectly in this frame.

A model displays a creation as part of Gianfranco Ferre's Spring/Summer 2009 women's collection during Milan Fashion Week September 21, 2008. REUTERS / Stefano Rellandini

This image seems so "refined." The body language of the model and the spectators play so nicely off of each other.

Belgium's Sandra Eens and Jeroen Kippers bungee jump after getting married on a platform hanging some 40 meters above the ground at a former military base in Sint-Truiden October 16, 2008.

Certainly adds new meaning to the term, 'Taking the plunge'. Do you kiss the bride before, during or after the leap?
