This image is a unique perspective none of the editors had ever seen before in nature photography by Robin Loznak, a talented photographer who I think it's safe to say has had more nature photographs (many that became "Reader's Choice" winners) in The Week in Pictures over the years than any other shooter. This image was so irresistible, it was also featured in the Year in Pictures.

Nothing against the photographer's ethics -- the waves were just that unusual to us!

Stars shine above a house on the golf course in Arosa, Switzerland, late Friday, Feb. 8, 2008. Arosa lies on 1,800 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains. This makes it an ideal place to watch stars.

This image won Readers Choice in The Week in Pictures the week of Feb. 7 - 14, 2008. It was a competitive week for this vote winter -- an impressive fire picture and a fun shot of a dog at the moment the Shuttle launched. But this pretty winter scene topped the list for readers. Henry Thomsen, 4, and Ashley Egger, 5, sled in Moorlands park during a snow day in Kenmore, Wash on Thursday, December 18 as Sarah Thomsen pushes them and Kim Egger looks on.

This is how I spent Thursday when Seattle roads were so bad (and really, our road crews so few) my boss advised me not to come into the newsroom, but to make some pictures of people getting out in such a rare, substantial snowfall for the area. It's great to get that giggled-filled reminder that I love what I do!
