Dramatic flares at Israeli air show

An Israeli Boeing AH-64 Apache longbow helicopter launches anti-missile flares during an air show at a graduation ceremony for Israeli pilots at the Hatzerim air base in the Negev desert, near the southern Israeli city of Beersheva, on Dec. 27.

Now that's some cool @!$%#! When they have another chopper shoot a missile at the other one and use those flares then they will have it all! Still quite the show.

China's main air show opened on Tuesday, coinciding with the once-in-a-decade Communist Party meeting to select the country's new leaders.

Reuters reports that this week's air show is being attended by a record 650 exhibitors including dozens of foreign companies drawn to China by the growth of its aviation sector, projected to displace the United States as the world's largest aviation market soon.

The exhibition featured prototypes of a new Chinese business aircraft and a model of a new stealth fighter that China apparently hopes to build for export. Read the full story.

My God, is this pilot crazy?? I go to Air Shows all the time, but this pilot is so low that he could lose control. Also, look at the mountains. I love military planes, but a few hundred feet in the air is acceptable.

The jet was flying in formation shortly before it crashed alongside the I-80 highway. It plowed into a field near the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center in northern Davenport, Fries said.

This is most unfortunate, a real tragedy. It's one thing when aircraft accidents happen at random times and places; they're bad enough then, with normally very few people close at hand to see, hear, and just experience the catastrophe as it unfolds. Although it's still fairly rare, air show accident …
