Rescue workers carry Atsushi Miyazaki from Japan's Association for Aid and Relief to an ambulance after he was found in a collapsed hotel in Van, eastern Turkey, on November 10. Miyazaki later died of his injuries, according to the Anatolia news agency, bringing the toll of the fresh quake to eight.
A Japanese aid worker who was in Turkey to help victims of the October 23 earthquake was one of at least eight people killed in a second quake that hit the town of Van on Wednesday evening, The Associated Press reported.
Turkey's Anatolia News Agency said Atsushi Miyazaki of the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan, died in hospital after he was dug out from the rubble of the Bayram Hotel on Thursday. Rescue workers performed CPR on Miyazaki for about 15 minutes before taking him to the hospital in serious condition.

Miyuki Konnai is carried away after being rescued.
Miyazaki's 32-year-old female colleague, Miyuki Konnai, was rescued alive from the wreckage of the same hotel late Wednesday.
Ikuko Natori, overseas operations manager of the AAR Japan, said Konnai was in stable condition.
"We spoke with her briefly, she is in a hospital at the moment," Natori told the AP by telephone from Tokyo. "She had a slight injury, but it is not life threatening."
A blog entry on the AAR Japan website said that Miyazaki and Konnai were part of a 3-person team dispatched to eastern Turkey on October 26. It said that 41 year old Miyazaki had only joined the organization in September, having previously worked for an NGO providing humanitarian aid in the Philippines.
Konnai was photographed (below) with survivors of the original earthquake on November 6, the first day of Eid al-Adha, the Muslim feast of sacrifice.
There was a heartfelt reaction to the news of Miyazaki's death from Turkish people writing on social networks. Murad Aşkın tweeted "May you rest in peace Miyazaki San. We shall never forget you." Murat Atay wrote simply "An angel died."
