    TV series inspires festival in United Kingdom

    Performance artists Kitsch & Sync Collective entertain visitors to the Number Six Festival, Sept. 15, in Porthmadog, United Kingdom. The classic Italianate village of Portmeirion in North Wales is staging the first ever No. 6 Festival, named after the famous 1960's cult TV series 'The Prisoner' which was filmed in the village. The three-day festival is a kaleidoscope of entertainment with music, art and performances ranging from poetry to pop and classical music.

    Tokyo robot revue drawing crowds to 'Fighting Females' cabaret show

    Reuters reports — In a restaurant down an alley in one of Tokyo's best-known red light districts, four massive female robots wink and wave as they lumber to the beat of traditional Japanese drums and a Lady Gaga dance tune. 

    Each is controlled by two bikini-clad women, who perch in a high seat attached to the robot's stomach and control the facial features and legs using joysticks attached to the seats for the hour-long "Fighting Females" performance. Read the full story.

    Life, death of King celebrated during Elvis Week in Memphis

    Elvis Presley faithful from around the world flock to Memphis, Tenn.  to visit Graceland, the home of the "King" who died 35 years ago Wednesday. A candlelight vigil is held every Aug. 15 to marks his death and is the high point of Elvis Week, a celebration of his life and career.

    This year, fans got a surprise welcome from the King's former wife and daughter, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley.

    Fans held up lit candles, illuminating their faces in orange light as they stood in the street outside the gates of Graceland, Elvis' longtime home and his burial place.
        
    "You should see this from our point of view. It's amazing," Priscilla Presley said, standing alongside Lisa Marie. "The candles are lit. It's truly a sight to behold."

    Lollapalooza attendees attempt to shelter themselves from the rain after being evacuated from the music festival when the National Weather Service issued a severe storm warning for Chicago on Saturday, Aug. 4.

    Lollapalooza evacuated because of severe storms in Chicago

    Evacuation announcements were broadcast over speakers, posted on signs and tweeted on official Twitter account.

    "ATTENTION: Serious weather is about to hit Grant Park. ALL festival goers must evacuate IMMEDIATELY. Head to our 3 evacuation locations NOW," the official Lollapalooza Twitter account tweeted about the same time.

    Thunder and lightning accompanied the rains that poured down shortly after everyone was evacuated. The skies finally cleared around 5:30 p.m. and officials worked with the city to reopen Grant Park for Lollapalooza.

    The music festival, Przystanek Woodstock (Polish for Woodstock bus station), officially kicked off Thursday in Kostrzyn, Poland near the Polish-German border. The festival which runs from Aug. 2 - 4 has free entrance and claims to be the largest open air festival in Europe.

     Rarely do we get a behind-the-scenes look at one of Annie Leibovitz's photo shoots. Even though these images were taken a few months ago, and have now been released for publicity purposes, I thought that other photographers might appreciate a peek at what it takes to pull off a big shoot with top celebrities.
