Roy and Susan both live on Inchtavannaich Island on Loch Lomond and regularly take their horses to the mainland for exercise by letting the horse swim across the water. Loch Lomond is the largest freshwater loch in Scotland with about thirty islands.

    Keith Bedford / Reuters

Jillian Eugenios reports at TODAY.com that Porchon-Lynch has been practicing yoga since she was 8 years old:

Porchon-Lynch teaches yoga four days a week and also keeps busy ballroom dancing and guiding wine tours in New York State. And she certainly knows how to overcome a challenge. At 87, she had hip surgery but a month later she took to the dance floor, starting lessons.

I believe that we can always reach just a little bit further," said Porchon-Lynch. "I’m inspired to bring yoga into others’ lives along with helping people unearth new talents.

The previous record-holder for oldest yoga teacher was Bernice Bates, 91, of Florida, who was given the title last year.

Pole-dancing grandma defies norms in China

    Carlos Barria / Reuters

Sun Fengqin (R), 60, participates in a pole-dancing class in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on April 27. In China, where older women are expected to lead a quiet life tending to their grandchildren, retired grandmother Sun Fengqin's hobby is unusual - she pole dances. Swings, spins and sultry moves are all in the repertoire of the long-haired 60-year-old, who took on pole dancing in admiration of what she saw as a sexy sport despite its image in China as something associated with strip clubs. Pole dancing has over the last few years evolved into a popular pastime and a way of staying in shape, with devotees promoting it as a legitimate form of dance and acrobatics.

Polish women emulate sports stars with cryotherapy-fueled workout

Sam Warburton of Wales wins the lineout ball during the RBS 6 Nations match between England and Wales at Twickenham Stadium on February 25, 2012 in London, England. The Welsh went on to win by 19 points to 12.

At a sports center in Spala, a town 60 miles southwest of Warsaw, a group of women step out from a 10-square-foot sealed chamber amid a cloud of ice-vapor. They are trying cryotherapy, a workout aid used by a growing number of international sports stars that entails standing in temperatures as low as -256 degrees Fahrenheit (-160 degrees Celsius).

According to Welsh rugby star Sam Warburton, cryotherapy is like an 'evil sauna'. The first time he stepped inside one of the oversized fridges in Spala last year, he recalled, one of his teammates freaked out and began banging on the door to get out.

But the Wales team's unusual training methods seem to have paid off. Since they took up cryotherapy as part of their training regimen, they have powered into the World Cup semi-finals — their best performance since 1987 — and to the top of the standings in the Six Nations championship.

    • Watch a video of the Welsh team testing out their new mobile cryotherapy unit

"Cryotherapy reduces inflammation" explains Adam Beard, the team's head of physical performance. "It dampens the nervous system, so it gives you that painless feel, and it allows you to flush toxins away from the working muscles pretty quickly, because obviously you're in extreme temperatures and the blood wants to move away from the limbs to regulate the core temperature," he told Agence France Presse.

All pics great EXCEPT for the rifle in the mud photo. It looks as if the young man is more worried about getting his clean, delicate hands dirty than keeping the muzzle of his rfle out of the mud. A Marine DI would have him drinking the mud. Hopefully he stays with the Navy-probably a pilot.

Anti-government protesters stretch in a street as part of their daily exercises after spending the night in front of the Egyptian Parliament in Cairo on Feb. 10. Around 2,000 protesters waved huge flags outside the parliament, several blocks from Tahrir Square, where they moved two days earlier in the movement's first expansion out of the square.

Gary Atlas,58, prepares to run his six mile route along the beach at Coney Island in New York January 18, 2011. According to Atlas, who started his run as a means of escape during his mother's illness, he has run his daily six mile route bare-chested and swam the often icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean along the Brooklyn waterfront for 1,214 days straight .

Thousands participate in mass yoga session at the 21st International Kite Festival in India
