    Crowd of 5,000 goes 'Gangnam Style' during flashmob in Rome

    Flashmob 'Soul Train' line honors Don Cornelius in New York's Times Square

    Jon Quick said 'Soul Train' inspired him to become a professional DJ.

    He wore an afro wig and held up a speaker blaring disco music on Saturday as dancers bounced along Broadway near 46th Street.

    No pants? No problem. Subway riders in a number of cities around the globe drop trou

    Some riders wait for the subway in their underwear as they take part in the 2012 'No Pants Subway Ride', Jan. 8. Started by Improv Everywhere, the goal is for riders to get on the subway train dressed in normal winter clothes (without pants) and keep a straight face.

    From the New York Daily News:

    To maintain the surreal atmosphere, the pantsless commuters were instructed to chat, read and listen to music like they normally would have if clothed.

The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails.The term is generally not applied to events organized by public relations firms, protests, and publicity stunts.
