A delicate fog looms over Colombian crops

A horse grazes in a pasture in early morning fog caused by frost-producing overnight temperatures in Chia, on the outskirts of Bogota, Colombia, on Jan. 9. In Colombia's highlands, crops are prone to freeze damage in the first few months of the year when temperatures are high during the day but drop below zero at night.

Forecasters have warned that the UK could experience the coldest day of the year so far today, with temperatures dropping as low as 7 F ( -14C), bringing ice, harsh frosts and freezing fog.  About 150 flights have already been cancelled at London’s Heathrow Airport due to fog, and heavy snow is expected in some parts of the country.

Freezing fog creates spiderwebs of frost in the UK

    By Carissa Ray

The frozen fog draping the statue of Lord Alfred Tennyson creates a surreal scene. There's also an interesting jutaposition between the frosty webs and the melted traffic light from the explosion in Mexico in the previous post.

Frost clings to the statue of Lord Alfred Tennyson as freezing fog surrounds the tower of Lincoln Cathedral as plummetting temperatures continue to grip the UK on Dec. 20, in Lincoln, United Kingdom. Heavy snow is bringing further disruption to many parts of the UK causing the Met Office to issue severe weather warnings for much of Britain. Travellers continue to suffer through delays and cancelations of flights at many airports due to the effects of the weather conditions.
