We see a lot of pictures of politicians and diplomats meeting their foreign counterparts, and I'm occasionally amused by the effusiveness of the greetings exchanged.
William Hague's party are said to have promised to run a "pro-American regime" before they came to power last year, reflecting Britain's ongoing fixation with its 'special relationship' with the US. It looks like Hillary Clinton has long forgotten her self-confessed "crush" on Hague's predecessor as British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband. I suppose that's just the way diplomacy works.
