Don't kick the can - there's a cat trapped inside!

    By Carissa Ray

Like this animal control officer, I also thought he was dealing with an opossum rather than a kitten when I first saw these images. If the cat weren't soaking wet and apparently unhappy about it's situation, it might even be cute.

Poor Kitten --- I emphasize that's a BABY! Yeah, it's wet, scared, has teeth and claws, but would respond much bettter if held by something other than its TAIL. EGAD.

20-year-old leukemia patient weds his sweetheart after being given only months to live

    By Carissa Ray

One of our producers, Meredith Birkett, came across these images in a recent edit and we realized that while this picture story moved to us just after the holidays, it had not yet been published anywhere on our site. The photographer, Chris Bergin, did a lovely job conveying the joy, and the exhaustion, of this young man's big day. View several of the images and a link to Jesse and his brides' story below.

Winter storm causes weather emergency in northern Indiana

The South Bend Tribune reports: Mayor declares winter weather emergency
SOUTH BEND — Mayor Stephen Luecke has declared a winter weather emergency for the city of South Bend through 8 a.m. Sunday.

At a press conference at 11 a.m. today, Luecke, along with police, fire and street department officials, requested that people stay off the streets during this time to allow snow-removal and emergency workers to do their jobs.

"We've had an extraordinary amount of snow," Luecke said. Even if you're able to get your vehicle out now, he added, you may not be able to get back in later because you might be plowed in.

"Stay home," Luecke said. "Enjoy your family."

ddddc, I hate to say it but yes. Politicians are all about keeping their jobs and nothing about really working for the people who elected them. It's all about the money. It should be one term and out on every political job. And everybody has to serve.
