    China anticipates an auspicious year

    The Lunar New Year begins on January 23 and marks the start of the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese zodiac.

    The Associated Press reports today on an expected "dragon baby boom", as many people in China, Taiwan and other Asian countries believe that babies born in the auspicious Year of the Dragon are gifted with prodigious quantities of luck and strength.

The Chinese Lunar New Year also known as the Spring Festival, which is based on the Lunisolar Chinese calendar, is celebrated from the first day of the first month of the lunar year and ends with Lantern Festival on the Fifteenth day. See more on the celebrations here.

    Biggest human migration in world as Chinese travel for Lunar New Year

    The statistics are staggering, from the Associated Press: About 230 million people — more than the entire population of Brazil — are expected to take part in the world's biggest annual human migration. For many, it's the only chance they get to visit home all year.
