Fans and members of the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers wait for power to return in the Superdome during an outage in the second half of the NFL Super Bowl XLVII football game.

Electric surge almost gives 49ers the momentum to win Super Bowl

    The Associated Press reports:

From blowout to blackout to shoot out, Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens had just enough power to survive one of the most electric Super Bowls ever.

The outage flipped the momentum to the San Francisco 49ers, but the Ravens used a last-gasp defensive stand to hold on Sunday night 34 – 31.

That is so much bull@!$%#... The lights (outage) did not give anyone team the advantage. They both benefited from the outage! Just like both teams benefited from all the bad holding calls (there were none). The Niner's all season long, pissed away their first half, only to come back in the second ha …

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III twists his knees as he reaches for the loose ball after a low snap during the second half of the NFL wild card playoff football game against the Seattle Seahawks in Landover, Md., Jan. 6.

Seahawks rally to 24-14 win over Redskins, RGIII injures knee late in game

One of the most renowned sports physicians has been concerned about the Redskins’ decision to use quarterback Robert Griffin III while he recovered from a Grade One LCL sprain, suffered four weeks ago. Today, with Griffin limping increasingly throughout a wild-card game against the Seahawks, the player's right knee appeared to finally give out while Griffin was trying to get his hands on a bad shotgun snap.

Seahawks get soaked by Dolphins -- and sprinklers -- in Miami

On a cloudless afternoon, the sprinklers came on between plays and covered most of the field Sunday, drawing a cheer from the crowd and causing a brief delay. The sprinklers were quickly turned off, and players toweled off before the action resumed.

Seattle beats Green Bay in controversial, confusing end to game

    Ted S. Warren / AP

Officials try to sort out the final play of an NFL football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks as players and coaches swarm the field on Monday night.

AP reports: The Seattle Seahawks completed an improbable — and controversial — Hail Mary pass on the last play of the game to top the Packers 14-12. Seattle's Golden Tate and Green Bay safety M.D. Jennings both appeared to have the ball thrown by Russell Wilson as they crashed to the turf. The officials called the 24-yard strike a touchdown, and the play stood after video review.

Confusion reigned at the end as both teams left the field after time expired on the play but then had to be called back out for the successful extra-point try. Read the full story.

Arizona Cardinals defeat the Philadelphia Eagles

    PFT’s Michael David Smith reports:

The Arizona Cardinals made a strong statement that they’re a real contender on Sunday, welcoming the Eagles to town and then sending them packing with a one-sided beatdown in which Michael Vick got hit so hard and so often it was surprising he stayed in the game.

Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb — the man who was traded out of Philly to make room for Vick — had the biggest game of his NFL career in beating his former team, 27-6. Not necessarily the biggest statistically (though his numbers, 17-of-24 for 222 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, were great), but the most significant demonstration to date that he really could be a good starter for a good NFL team.
